Which minky color works best for ______ (insert MLP character here)?
This journal is an attempt to answer that question. There are more than 50 shades of minky out there, and as a plushie maker, I realize that it can be difficult to know which color will work best for the particular pony you're working on. This is made even more frustrating by the fact that many of the images of the minky do not show the true color!
I recently ordered a ton of swatches from fabric.com, and I'm continuing to collect swatches from various websites, in an attempt to get most of the minky colors. Because I have the actual fabric with me, I can compare it to the characters' colors to see which fits best, to ensure that you can make a plushie that is as show-accurate as possib

Do not ever order fabric from Fabric.comAs my last journal entry stated, I've been having issues with my most recent order from Fabric.com. I know many other plushie makers are also experiencing problems with them. I would encourage everyone to avoid purchasing from them and spread the word that they are no longer a good source for minky. I placed and order for four yards of fabric and a swatch on August 26th. Their website states that orders will be shipped within two business days of purcahse. Nearly two weeks later on September 7th, I received an email saying one of the colors I purchased was out of stock and that those two yards would be canceled. They say that there is a 7-10 day wait for a refund if an order is canceled. I think this is ridiculous when I did not cancel the order myself and when I paid through paypal and they could easily refund the cost with the click of a few buttons. Ever since I posted Wolf Link and Midna I've been getting an influx of messages asking me to teach, reveal my secrets, take people under my wing, and so on. The sad thing is I can't spend all that much time one on one with everybody asking me to teach them. So I've decided to put together this massive block of text, relating some of my personal experience in plush making and listing off all my resources at the bottom. Looking for Some Suggestions for Future PlushiesSo apparently my graphics card is on the fritz and overheats and turns off my computer when I play any vaguely graphics intense games for more than an hour or so. I really should be thinking about getting a new computer anyway, not just a new graphics card, because I've had this thing for forever. So we finally welcome back season 3 of MLP! I'm very excited for this season to unfold, and I hope that all of you are avoiding all the spoilers and commercials like you should be!
Next week, my first episode of season 3 airs, "Too Many Pinkie Pies." I had a blast working on this episode with my amazing board partner Dave. I have never gotten to do a full-on Pinkie Pie episode, so this was definitely a fun one for me.
Looking forward to seeing more fan content, I'm always amazed at all the talent out there!

I've done several experiments since asking this question, and have come to settle on the following settings to produce the best embroidery:
Stabilizer: Heavyweight cut-away for the very best result (I used Pellon), or 2 layers of medium-weight tear-away (I've tried this for both Pellon and Sulky). Use a water-soluble stabilizer on top of Minky to keep the nap down so the pile will not show through.
Needle: Standard sharp needle, even on Minky. Some recommended ballpoint needles, but the result turned out a bit more sketchy than I'd like.
Embroidery File: 7stitches/mm density, 5 units of fixed pull compensation for pattern fills, and 12 units of variable pull compensation for satin (zig-zag) stitches.
Hooping: Hoop backing stabilizer, and adhere fabric on top. I tried hooping Minky, but the middle kept shifting due to the stretchy nature of the fabric.

Recently, there's been a link circulating on deviantART that automatically deactivates your account. Somehow, the site was hacked into, and now if you visit ~gary-niger's profile and type in your username and password when it "logs you out", you're pretty much screwed.
The link itself does you no harm whatsoever, and you can browse the profile all you want, but when the artificial login screen appears, do not type in your personal information. This gives them access to your account, which will be deactivated, and it's simply bad news altogether.

Two years ago, this awesome person :iconfyre-flye:, among many others, decided it was time for an AMAZING new cartoon series to hit the air, one that would revolutionize the cartoon industry, one that would make us laugh, cry, and feel like a kid again. I want to tell you guys something "very serious" that happened to me at school. It's not funny, guys. It's f*cking hilarious.
I was hanging out with my friends at school 2 weeks ago. We were talking about "babies" and "pregnant moms."IDK why the hell they were talking about this. (I was the last one that got there.)
I was listening to the conversation for a couple minutes, even making some crappy jokes. Then, I just decided to tuck my arms in my sweater pocket and make it look like a boner. I stuck it out and said "I'M BREAKING WATER!!!!!!!" instead of "MY WATER BROKE!"
My friends were laughing at me and they were talking about how it's "impossible to break water."
A whole day later, I did the boner thing in front of my 6th grade friend and my other friends were calling me a butt pirate.
