Coffee is a very personal part of a person’s life. Having a “way you take your coffee” is as much an indication of the crossing over into adulthood as a first broken heart. Even when psychically rudderless and adrift, awaking to morning in one of those blank margins of one’s life, there is always the next start, a new start—in that first cup of coffee. Coffee is the one nonjudgemental friend who never betrays.
“Coffee makes us severe and grave and philosophical.”

"We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us." - Winston Churchill
The general theme this week is focusing on Architecture and in particular how to drum a bit more enthusiasm for noticing what's around us and capturing it successfully on camera. Architecture is profoundly unavoidable whether we like it or not! It's there in everyday life through work, socialising, living, politics and everything in between. The Architecture Gallery here on deviantART is vast and contains a great range of inspiring artworks.
Spotlight Deviant LeMatos
Here for just nine months LeMatos has already made an impact on the Architecture Community having been spotted and suggested for this feature by AnaNaszynska the Architecture Community Volunteer!

Project Educate: Expressing and EmotingEssentially, these are mostly the same thing with a few minor differences which are explained below. But before we move onto that, there's an important message to share when it comes to categorising your work. To get the best out of the photography galleries it's vitally important that you categorise your work properly. That' why these weeks exist in some respects, to help educate you through that. With regards to Daily Deviations - Community Volunteers will not give features to pieces of work that are mis-categorised. They might assist you by moving your work or explaining where it should go, but seeing a deliberate miscat is a bit off-putting when it comes to choosing pieces to showcase. Take some time to have a look through your gallery (I'm going to do the same!) and figure out if everything is in the right place. If you're struggling, just ask. We're here to help. What we won't do is rearrange your whole gallery for you. We will however, work with you to try and straighten thingsProject Educate: Expressing and Emoting3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This

Photography Troubleshooting: Snap to ProThis week we bring you another issue of Troubleshooting for Photographers, to hopefully give you some tips and explanations behind how to make your Photography look that little bit more professional. Aeirmid noted that while there are a lot of folks in the photomanipulation community who enjoy taking photographs, there is also a great desire for people to learn a bit more about how to make them look more professional.Photography Troubleshooting: Snap to Pro3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Firstly combining the elements of many of the articles that have already been written in this series (see the bottom of this article for links) will assist anybody in gearing their photographs up to look more professional. However IsacGoulart summed it up quite neatly with this rather epic quote...
“Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph."
Getting your work up to some sort of standard is always tricky. Especially if you are setting the standar
Project Educate: Classic Portrait PhotographyClassic Portraits are Photographs of people in traditional pose. These are often formal, refined and restrained in style. As you will see within the Gallery they often involve a plain and simple background which is a popular feature of Classic Portraiture. One of the most notable things within the Classic Portrait Photography Gallery is that there are a lot of art nudes. This actually occurs across the board with People & Portraits and I cannot stress enough - that if your work features nudity, it belongs within the artistic nude gallery!Project Educate: Classic Portrait Photography3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Conversion to black and white with concentration on bringing out tones and shadows creates that timeless classic look and is often favoured by the elite artists that submit to the People & Portraits - Classic Gallery.

People + Portraits: Capturing WeddingsThe Weddings category within the People & Portraits Photography gallery is often misused and misunderstood. It's not for capturing those generic wedding shots of shoes, cakes, decorations and rings. The idea is that there needs to be a person or people captured in the shot to make it portraiture photography. There also (and i know it's mind blowing) needs to be a wedding theme going on! Simply cropping in close on hands or shoes or a part of a dress isn't enough to get it into the gallery. If the gallery were simply 'Weddings' then it would be different of course. You should consider the use of the Photojournalism - Weddings Gallery too and if your shots are journalistic in style they need to be pushed towards that gallery.People + Portraits: Capturing Weddings3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Fiddle with your settings to ensure you capture the bright white of the wedding dress (as this is the common colour anyway). A lot of cameras will over compensate if you've got this large white area in your view finder and expose the dress as being

Photobooths! Whose been to a wedding in the past year or so and found one of these delightful creations sitting there, often in place of a Wedding photographer? Petapixel has written about a photobooth that only activates when one or more people touch. It's a cute concept, you can read more about it here. But I've come across Photographers who are now running photo-booths in the place of doing Wedding Photography, because it's easier money. What are your thoughts? Is it a quick concept soon to be over with? The latest 'fashion'? Or is it something that might seriously threaten the idea of Wedding Photography as we know it?

The Photography Galleries: Why and How to SuggestSo many of my watchers and other members of the community suggest fantastic pieces for Daily Deviations every week. But I need more. I need to be more specific about my rules now too, so that you understand what I do and do not look for. But above all that, it's time to get You more exposure. Think you have an awesome photograph in your gallery? Why not consider self suggesting right now. I actively encourage it. If you send me your own work I will greet you with pompoms and latex free balloons. Srsly. Photography Troubleshooting: Understanding ISOHeader created by TouchedDPhotography Troubleshooting: Understanding ISO3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
TheGalleryOfEve asked recently about SLR settings and in particular, a troubleshooting article focusing on ISO. So here it is! Hopefully this article will help you to understand ISO better, whether a beginner or not.
What Is ISO?
ISO within traditional photography, was an indication of how sensitive a film was to light. Within digital photography it measures the sensitivity of the image sensor. Basically, the lower the number then the less your camera is sensitive to light. Higher ISO numbers are generally used in dark situations to get faster shutter speeds but this can often mean that your shots are noisier. ISO 100 is the most widely used and gives crisp shots with little to no grain. Shooting in automatic means that the camera will select the appropriate ISO for the situations that you are facing, and work out the rest for you to reduce noise as much possible. But it's when you start getting more technical and

Photography Troubleshooting: Tripod or not?In a recent issue of Photography Weekly we talked about tripods and whether or not it's worth using one and what alternatives there are. I think it was safely concluded that using a tripod is better than not at all - but there are certain situations when you can do something else or when a tripod isn't necessary. Sometimes it's really hard to pick out the moments when it might be needed. Quite often you could end up out walking for miles carrying a tripod that weighs the same as a small elephant - and you don't even use it. So what are some useful tips?Photography Troubleshooting: Tripod or not?3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Firstly, find a tripod that DOESN'T weigh the same as a small elephant. I may be exaggerating slightly, but honestly there are tripods out there that weigh more than they need to. If you need a heavy duty tripod, you probably know exactly what you're supposed to be doing with it and don't need to read this a
