I will eventually post stuff here on DA, but I felt the format of my blog lent itself better to an overview of the process, and to acknowledge some of the others involved. So I decided to begin with that out of consideration to the talented people I feel privileged to have worked with!
Feel free to have a look: http://steveburg.blogspot.com/
There is an "Art of" book, which I just got - and it's quite nice! But it contains only a fraction of the art generated for the project by myself and the other artists on the team.
I worked with a small group here in the US that included Steven Messing, David Levy, Ben Procter, Carlos Huante, Neville Page & Daniel Simon. And there are other artists who worked over in the UK when the film went into full production. So you can imagine quite a lot of artwork was generated!

[Tutorial] Sculpting in Blender 2.6x for Poser/DAZSkiriki asked for this. I've been putting it off because it's very involved, but it is a good workflow to know if you're doing Poser/DAZ props and outfits on a budget. Blender is free and, while it has notable shortcomings in terms of painting across contiguous nonidentical UVs (which is why it doesn't compete with Zbrush and 3dCoat in those areas), it is great for base meshing and many kinds of sculpting.[Tutorial] Sculpting in Blender 2.6x for Poser/DAZ3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Some preliminary controls in Blender:
Scroll Mouse Wheel: Zoom in and out.
Hold Mouse Wheel/Drag: Rotate view dynamically.
Shift/Hold Mouse Wheel/Drag: Move view horizontally/vertically.
Numpad keys: different orthographic views; 5 switches orthographic/perspective.
Tab: Switch modes. You can see the Mode dropdown just below the 3d window. It will say Object mode when you start up Blender.
Right Click: Select an object.
G: grab an object to move it.
Right-click after G: Let go of moved object, letting it snap back to its original

This piece started with my love of this dA sticker:
So good and so simple. Pixel hearts: solid! Inspired by the phrase, I went to my sketchbook to figure out how I would execute this piece in my own style. After filling up page after page with a Chisel Tip and a large Paint Marker, I just wasn't finding what I was visualizing in my mind.
It got messy for sure, but that’s cool because perfection often wears the mask of chaos. In the tumult of ink and page killers, I decided to change tools. The big, chunky marks I was making were not fine enough and not sophisticated enou

Movie Talk: Pacific Rim ReviewAh, yeah, Guillermo Del Toro. To me, his name was always connected to Pan's Labyrinth, being the first Del Toro-movie i ever watched and which was indeed pretty impressive. It was later then when i realised that he also caused Hellboy and other things that would seem unlikely at first but – whatever; this guy got my interest after all and thus it was just a matter of fact that my ears would go all alert when there was news about Pacific Rim. (but before i start the babbling: why even talk about that at all? Well, because i simply love movies. And cinema. And i just watched it. And because i enjoy sharing thoughts. Duh.)Movie Talk: Pacific Rim Review2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, what's the story.
Somewhen in the near future giant alien creatures emerge from a breach within the depths of the pacific and overrun the coasts. Thus, humanity adapts to the new danger and creates giant robots called Jäger, driven by two humane pilots to fight these critters. The story is introduced by ex-pilot Raleigh Becket off screen and even though the au

Online EnduranceSome little ball of faecal matter posted a comment on my profile, proudly announcing “Tom Preston finally left DA”, no doubt in an effort to stir something up.Online Endurance4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Now, I don’t know a huge amount about Tom Preston (AKA Andrew Dobson), I’m just aware of the sketchy details: he drew fetish stuff, he tried to deny it, he posted some incendiary journal entries and some people claim his art is no good.
Excluding the denial part, that sounds eerily familiar to my online shtick. The only difference seems to be in our approach to faceless internet hate. Where TP appears to have taken it very, very personally, thus fanning the flames, I treated mine for what it was: faceless.
That’s the first thing you should always remember when reading through comments about your work: everybody is a phantom. An avatar with a silly name. Their comments could be good, their comments could be bad, but ultimately, unless you’re certain the individual behind them has some in
R.I.P TaliaJoy (Tribute)I just learned this morning that a talented young Youtube guru "taliajoy18" has passed away from cancer at the young age of 13. Help us out with our doggy bill...So our dog had a bit of an emergency earlier today. We came home and he started yelping and crying for 20 minutes until we got him to calm down.Help us out with our doggy bill...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
We had to call in an emergency vet service, which came by, took a look at him. Overall, nothing is broken, but we're keeping an eye on him in case it's something else. In the end, he's given some pain medication and he's alright overall. The vet bill took about $400 from us. It's more inconvenient than anything considering at the moment, we need the money for our property taxes coming up in November. So ANY help would be great.
Right now, Daggy is taking some commissions spots as I don't have any time for them right now and won't for awhile. You can visit her and note for rates if interested. It would be much appreciated.

I am sad to report that I have been greifed nearly ten times. My farm animals have been repeatedly slaughtered, my home ruined over and over again, my chests smashed, and my hard earned items taken. I tried to ride out the continual wave of vandalism and theft, but after one particularly horrific attack I am very sorry to say I lost my patience. In creative mode I removed all traces of my farm, freed the animals I still had left, and moved to Jeff’s hotel.
Sadly, that too was attacked. Though thanks to you, my dear Denizens, I did not see the damage because you had repaired it. This is a burden you should not have to bare, and I am sorry I have not been able to protect you from this.
I could give you excuses here, telling you why I’ve not been better, like how I wasn’t ready to take on the job of running a server, or how I don’t know Command Block code, but the reality is that I have simply tried to ignore
Nothing to see, here. There are only a handful of names on my “block” list. You have to have been a monumental prick in order to earn yourself a place on it. I don’t hide negative comments about my work nor do I block people that write them. It’d make the world a very boring place if you edit it to show nothing but praise. I monitor content on DA via “browse” as it changes regularly and has work that the community thinks to be high quality. It’s generally where I spot artists whose material I want to see more of. Over the past few days, though, after posting a response to DA inexplicably choosing the letter “Z” to be their logo, people mentioned that the “Super Pretentious” cartoon had surpassed DA’s own “Boldly” journal on the “What’s Hot” list. Thinking that to be funny as hell, I switched to “What’s Hot” t

I consider technical drawings to be an art form, art raised to an exacting level of precision, and Scott is a master of the craft.
In Aerospace Projects Review issue Volume 2, Number 2, available here Scott offers a beautifully illustrated 56-page article on Project Orion. This is one of the most definitive articles on the subject, covering the large designs, 20 meters and diameter and larger. The 4,000 ton nuclear pulse propulsion orbital battleship design for the USAF is shown in never-before-published detail. Scott was able to interview one of the surviving members of the original Ge

Over the years I have produced a range of tutorials on artistic use of the computer. Most of them concerns rather general concepts and can hopefully give something regardless of which program you are using or even be of some interest for traditional, non-digital artists. Some examples of my art can be found in the gallery.
That said, to get the most out of these you should know that I mainly use the open-source image manipulation program GIMP. I also work a lot with the painter program MyPaint. These are both very powerful programs capable of great artistic expression. Being open-source programs, they are both legally free to download and use without any cost. They exist for many platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows, so they are worth trying out if you haven't already.
The tutorials listed below tend are (ver

Prices also apply if you want a Comic/Anime/OC character not related to MLP
1-You have to explain how you want your pony/human/anthro.
Pose, expression and that kind of stuff. If you ask for something with a lot of clothes or details, that will rise the price of the vector.
2-I'm allowing NSFW stuff (But restricted) Prices apply the same way as the normal commissions. For more info, leave me a note.
3-You have to send me a note with the subject COMMISSION.
Things that need to be in your note:
A) An explanation of how you want your character(s)
B) If you want an OC, please send me a base to check the colours and form of your character.
4-I always have open slots. But if you ask for a commission and I have other ones before yours, please be patient n_n
5-If I get various commissions, I will close them until I finish,

What You See in Art versus What Inspires ArtI'm going to take a moment to make a short rant about a pet peeve of mine that continues to proliferate in almost everything I do on deviant art. What You See in Art versus What Inspires Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There is a difference between what a piece of art REMINDS you of and what it, in fact, is. I am tired of people stating that a design I create most decidedly had to draw from some influence and when I said it didn't they continue to press there point by pushing evidence down my throat. I am more than happy to have a discussion on my influences in my artwork. In fact I'll be the first to tell you what inspires me and what things made me want to do what on a design. I think sharing that process helps everyone become a better artist, but it has made me more and more bitter when people decide to dictate to me what clearly inspired me despite anything I say.
Artist draw inspiration from all sorts of things. The final art may evoke certain thoughts or remind you of certain things. Those two concepts are no
