As some of you people know, I am a fan of Kill La Kill and have been riffing on the "uniforms" of the rebel group Nudist Beach with crossover characters.
As you can see from the recruiting poster, there is a basic uniform design but you can customize it - as I have - for the various characters I have drawn.
Even the 4 Devas have their very own version of a Nudist Beach uniform so there really aren't any limits except that you can't technically be wearing clothes - you can only wear accessories such as hats, belts, straps, s

I have been a fan of comic books for years and two of my favorite characters, one Marvel and one DC, are always getting the short end of the stick.
Power Girl has had 2 series, She Hulk had at least 3, and both were cancelled because they weren't considered popular enough.
I seriously think that the editors had no idea how create the comics for their supposed target audience.
They wrote books for a mainly female audience - FAILED ATTEMPT
Or horny fanboys - FAILED ATTEMPT
Then even tried to make them full-blown dramatic superheroes like their male counterparts - DOUBLE FAIL BECAUSE THEY AREN"T THEM
(Power Girl/Superman, She-Hulk/Hulk if you don't know your comic book characters)
Know what audience really appreciated these ladies?
Comic book fans who were tired of formulaic, predictable, massive world-changing story lines and heroes who have to make gut-wrenching decisions and miraculous saves.
These are people who wanted a fun

What is the best (and worst) April Fools day joke that can happen to an artist?
Seeing your art on tv being looked at by Chris Hardwick and Seth Green and it happening on April 1st so anyone you tell will think it is a joke!
It happened to me and even I didn't believe it until I saw it myself.
Last night one of my watchers started asking me about how it felt to have my art on Comedy Central.
Naturally I thought it was a joke... until a few more people started mentioning they saw it on tv too.
I still didn't believe it, but now I was curious what show it was on.
It was literally the March 31st show of At Midnight (airing after midnight so literally on April 1st) hosted by Chris Hardwick and one of the guests was Seth Green. Naturally the episode had a

My last artwork I did for him was a commissioned piece which my favourite Eddsworld fan art:

The Three problems with how we learn art: pt.3I've been thinking about how and why we learn to draw for a few years now. I started self-analazing my own drawing and character design thought process when I began writing my first art instruction book, "Creating Characters with Personality". It was harder than I thought to verbalize how I've learned and how I process drawing. This has led me to start looking back at my artistic life and how I learned art. What made me learn the most? What drove me to draw and stick with it? What led to others I knew as a child to stop drawing? I think I'm ready to present some of those thoughts here on DA and hear what you think. This is part 2 of three in a series. I'm not sure where this is leading, but step one is my establishing an online art instruction school called Taught ByA PRO (http://www.taughtbyapro.com) that will (in phase one) concenThe Three problems with how we learn art: pt.32 years ago in Personal More Like This

Being shown something in plain view, our brains just process it as "something".
But when we are looking at something that is either censored, out of view, or concealed, our brains are boggled with the possibilities of what is being hidden - the imagination takes over and it can be "anything"!
That is why naughty images which are censored seem naughtier.
The off-screen monster which we can't see seems scarier.
The Christmas present which is wrapped seems more special.
With that being said...
Does that means if an image is offensive to someone, even though nothing is being shown, they are thinking more dirtier thoughts than others?
I have to admit that an image of lightly concealed female nude - using clothing or body positioning - can seem a little more erotic to me than a flat out photo of a naked woman.
So... does that mean this image of a redhea

Yes, we're back on the gun-debate-thing. And this time the pro-gun crowd are pissing me off because they've set in motion a chain of events that will stifle the potentially fabulous ability to transfer what you create on your computer into the real world.
The man behind it harps on about liberty being his motivation for doing it.
Liberty has to be tempered with responsibility, otherwise you just have anarchy. Using new technology to build a gun doesn't make you a champion for freedom, it makes you an attention seeking moron who gives the powers-that-be REASON to restrict it. They will now do everything the can to prevent the proliferation of the technology. They

* Even before his birth, the future leader of North Korea was triggering miracles. Official biographers say his birth in a cabin on the slopes of Baekdu Mountain in February 1942 was foretold by a swallow and heralded by a double rainbow. When he was born, a new star appeared in the night sky.
* The first time he picked up a golf club, in 1994, Kim reportedly shot a 38-under par round on North Korea's only golf course, including 11 holes-in-one. He then decided to retire from the sport for ever.
* Kim has the ability to alter the weather simply through the power of thought.
* The fledgling leader was a genius as an infant, with official North Korean biographies stating that he had learned to walk at just 3 weeks and was talking at 8 weeks.
* As a junior high school pupil in Pyongyang, he corrected and chasti

Paramount has shut down pre-production on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot over "script problems".
Translation; Paramount realised that if they continued down the path Bay was going, fans would probably burn their studios to the ground.
With luck (and a dollop of common sense) the project will be shelved altogether and the IP left fallow until competent directors/producers are brought on board.
I'm going to pretend my little campaign helped with this

If so, I really hope they go the whole hog and make Batman old.
If it were my project, I'd write it so Batman had been at the crime fighting game for decades prior to the alien-in-tights showing up. With Superman around, what use is there for The Batman? The authorities have always been gunning for him, but the public had an uneasy tolerance. Now everyone see him as a dangerous liability.
Of course, Batman is the toughest, most cunning man on the planet. If you could just take him out, it would have been done by now. So Superman is asked to deal with him.
The whole story would be based around the conflict of ideals: both support the concept of justice, but while Superman has faith in the system, Batman sees it as totally impotent and has taken on the responsibility of supporting it on his own shoulders.
And Batman would win.
Batman ALWAYS wins.
A Very Important UpdateI haven't posted here on DA in a while, so this might be new to a lot of you, but if you've been following some of the stuff happening over on tumblr it won't be unexpected. For the past several weeks I've been getting steadily worse both mentally and physically. I've been depressed before, but I've never been as bad as I've been recently. I've lashed out at people, been getting angrier and grumpier, been finding it harder and harder to listen to people giving me positive feedback, and have even started rapidly losing a lot of weight.A Very Important Update3 years ago in Personal More Like This
My enjoyment for drawing has been dropping, and many of you have probably noticed that I've been taking more and more time off lately. For every few comics I post, I tend to spend another week recuperating. But within the past 2 weeks it's spiked so bad that I seriously have to consider what's more important: my health or drawing.
So for the time being I am shutting down. I'll still be working on brentalfloss and updating those here, and the most current
Kony 2012I've gotten a lot of requests to talk about this, which coincidentally happened right along side my two political cartoons taking off like wild fire. Dunno if it was an accident or bad timing, but right now it seems like everyone wants me to talk about Kony... which I honestly don't know why because I'm not a journalist and everyone else is making such a big deal about it I don't know what else I could offer to the discussion other than "yup, this is going on, check out the links."Kony 20123 years ago in Personal More Like This

Who is Kony?
The LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) is a religious militant group which operates in several countries including Uganda, Sudan, and the Central African Republic. Formed in 1987 they gained prominence and attention for their extremist atrocities committed against civilians and ch

I actually do support this idea to go for a new production with a studio. I was getting worried that they would runt he character into the ground and I'm rather pleased they retired the character and will do a new show, it adds variety and makes something different. While we'll all miss seeing the weekly video shows of the NC screaming for 20 minutes, I totally support Doug's decision to do something new and regardless, he left a huge impact on internet culture that will never be reversed.
