CONTEST WINNERS + Honorable Mentions!First off, thank you to everyone who participated! I never thought this contest would be so much fun, nor did I ever think this many people would enter.CONTEST WINNERS + Honorable Mentions!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Needless to say, I can tell you right now that there wasn’t a single entry (except for one person who entered someone else’s art...) that didn’t deserve to win. I really wish we had the resources to give everyone here a prize, the execution of these was AMAZING!
Below are the winners as well as a handful of people who we thought did an amazing job but we just didn’t have enough prizes.
Please note: if you did not see your entry on this journal, that does NOT mean we didn’t like your entry or didn’t think it deserved a mention. I just wanted to post some particularly successful ones - there are many, many others who had AMAZING entries that we all LOVED but we didn’t mention everyone here because of space and what not.
PLEASE don’t make us feel bad about not picking your entry!
MinecraftI just got Minecraft and holy hell is it addictive. I've played around with the iPhone app before (building stuff with infinite blocks with no enemies to fear), but I wasn't prepared for how addictive the full version of the game actually is.Minecraft4 years ago in Personal More Like This
To my credit, I had a little help before starting the game by using a seed which spawned me in the middle of a NPC village, thus giving me shelter and resources to survive my first few treacherous nights. But after a few days had passed and I got used to the controls and crafting, I ventured out and built my own little hut and started digging away.
The first few nights were exceptionally scary, even though I was in a nice safe house. But gradually I learned that Creepers are less creepy to me now than they are simply annoying, and I find myself being more creeped out by those ominous Ender Men.
After digging a very inefficient hole near my house and gather up more resources (cobblestone) than I could handle, I decided to venture out and build a bi
The Hobbit: An Unexpected JourneySaw The Hobbit last night. It was very good... if a bit long. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for seeing all the little details interconnecting The Hobbit to Lord of the Rings and all that, but for the average watcher... eh... it kinda dragged. I overheard several people saying they fell asleep during the film, and I noticed more than once a number of people fidgeting and looking at their watches. Still, it's a damn fine movie and It's a shame we have to wait so long for the next two films. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Having The Hobbit being written during the beginning of Lord of the Rings is pretty smart. You could effectively watch the 3 Hobbit movies and then immediately move right into the 3 Lord of the Rings movies. Kudos to Jackson for that, it'll be great to marathon run the two trilogies back to back.
This movie was, like the book, much lighter and funnier than The Lord of the Rings and I was surprised at how much from the books they actually kept. They

Noah and The Winter Solider DiscussionNoahNoah and The Winter Solider Discussion1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I’ve already mentioned that I enjoyed Noah in a previous journal, but after talking with friends and family and reading reviews online I feel inclined to bring it up again. See, Noah is under a HUGE assault like no other movie in recent years has been. On one side Christians are lambasting it for deviating too much from the sanitized version of Noah’s Ark they’re familiar with and “removing god” from the storyline (I’ll get back to why that’s ridiculous in a minute), while atheists are lambasting it as more of the same “Christianity propaganda” they’ve worked so hard to avoid. The bottom line being that BOTH sides are refusing to see the movie due to their ideological beliefs.
And that’s just sad.
Noah is not a perfect film, but it’s still one that I think everyone should watch, both religious and non. Noah is, at it’s core, an interpretation of the classic story by an amazing film mak
INDIEGOGO ENDED!! Phase one is over!EDIT: 11/18/2014INDIEGOGO ENDED!! Phase one is over!11 months ago in Personal More Like This
So, as I said of tumblr, I want to thank everyone for their support! We collected almost 10000 through Indiegogo donation! I know it's far from what the goal is but don't worry! We are planing phase two of the campaign! We will not stop just because we didn't reach our goal out of a first try! We will fight until we finally get there!
To everyone who donated and shared the campaign: Thank you! Your support is what helped us get even this far, we really couldn't have done without you! ;u; As I said above, we will continue to fight until our goal is reached so we aren't stopping just yet!
I will update everyone once phase two starts and I will most likely reopen Special Order (and add new ideas for it). If I still owe you those, don't worry! I quite busy with the School Festival (which was a total success! The
NerdcrafteriaI'm a nerdfighter and if you don't know what a nerdfighter is you can watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyQi79aYfxUNerdcrafteria2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But one of the coolest things about nerdfighteria is that we have our own minecraft server called... wait for it: Nerdcrafteria!
Nerdcrafteria is one of the most awesome Minecraft servers I have ever participated in. The server is broken up into several different worlds. The Main World, The Nether, Minington, and Gladitorial. All of the worlds have borders around them preventing players from roaming too far and making the strain on the server too much to handle, but all of the worlds are also massive enough that you likely won't notice.
The Various Worlds
The main world is where towns and cities exist. You cannot break blocks here except on town plots that you purchase with the server's equivalent to money = Llamas. This helps prevent griefers from destroying all your hard work and gives you a place to call home. If you don't have enough

More Greek mythology in Portal?Just a minor edit to this: This is actually appliable only to the Portal 1 series I was just amazed that greek mythology CAN be applied to the first game just as it was obviously applied to Portal 2.More Greek mythology in Portal?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
After answering a comment on DevArt I realized that Rattmann's and Chell's story is much like the story of Ariadne and Theseus. Doug being Ariadne and Chell Theseus who is suppose to kill the Minotaur, aka, GLaDOS.
His scribblings in the Portal 1 game were unicolor (red) - much like the most paintings depict Ariadne's thread to be red-colored. Also, the whole Aperture building is like a maze and at some point you have to rely on his drawings (the thread) to find the right way through.
All this leads to the Minotaur - the ultimate boss, GLaDOS.
Ariadne also fell in love with Theseus on first sight - much like Rattmann had endeared Chell as his only hope even though he barely knew her.
Ariadne had eloped with Theseus (just like Rattmann was supp

Still working on my Ebony Armor every day.
Now, I'm back from my 2 weeks off and I can only work in that armor in the evenings
Anyway, I wanted to create a small booklet for you with a step by step guide
of the build of the Ebony Armor with included patterns.
For people out there who want to do the same armor.
I hope, this turns out well.
Never done a whole tutorial by myself before.
And if you like to commission me with something, dagger, sword, armor, don't hesitate to ask me
Here's my Ebony Armor collection so far…

When we started this movie five years ago, I thought it would be a blast, because everything was wide open. In a world without cars, jobs, secret formulas, villains, etc. we would be able to do anything we wanted. It didn't take long for reality to sink in - this was going to be a lot tougher than we thought. Staring into this limitless world that we would build according to our rules, we were suddenly coming to grip with just how wide open this world really was. Like when you've finished all your chores and you finally find time to do a drawing - you run to your table, open your drawing pad (or your computer, if you're more modern than me) and stare into a blank page. And if you're like me, it's not very long before you are wishing you had just a few bounda
Skyrim Mod List -Updated with LINKS-So last time I wrote about Skyrim Mods, I asked for people’s suggestions on what mods to use. I thought it might be fun to list a bunch of the mods I have and provide links to where you can download them all. I’m fairly certain that all the mods I have listed here are also available on Steam if that happens to be your method of playing Skyrim.Skyrim Mod List -Updated with LINKS-2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Guard Dialogue Overhaul http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23390/?
Updates the Guard dialogue to be much more diverse and has them comment more specifically on your accomplishments in the game rather than repeating the same dialogue over and over again.
Flyable Broomsticks http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19069
Adds a crafting recipe and a levitation spell that makes brooms flyable. Be a witch!
Adds footprints for when you run in snow or ash. Makes animals and dragons leave prints as well. Good for hunter immersion.
Amazing Spiderman 2 Live Tweet CompilationI finally got to watch Amazing Spiderman 2 on DVD. Bad news is that it was so boring and full of tripe that I got bored with it. The good news is that I decided to live-tweet my experience watching it. I’ve compiled the event into this journal below, but you should be warned: there are spoilers. Though to be fair... the spoiler is from a comic written back in the 1970's so it really shouldn't be a "shock" or anything. -Watching Amazing Spider-Man 2 for the first time. It's... Pretty bad so far and I'm only 20 mins in...
-Can we have ONE defining character trait for Peter? He seems to keep flip flopping between snarky badass and whiny angsty teen.
-"Subtle" is not a word I would use to describe this movie. It's like they think you're an idiot and can't comprehend simple storytelling.
-You can tell Jamie Foxx a nerd cuz he's clumsy and awkward and has big glasses and a pocket protector. This 2014 or 1954?
-How did you go from doing a documentary of Ray Charles to this?
Collection: MushroomsCollection: Mushrooms9 months ago in Art Features More Like This
No other plant looks, feels or tastes like a mushroom. They can bloom after a rainstorm and fill up a meadow in the woods that was empty the day before. They are a delight in the eye of the epicurean, but though tiny and fragile, strike terror in the hearts of non–woodsmen like me. Identified properly, they are a marvelous salad. Misidentified, they can mean sudden death. Such tiny, pretty forest dwellers, but with power over even a starving man. Such is a mushroom.
“I am… a mushroom; On whom the dew of heaven drops now and then.”

"Scars can come in handy. I have one myself above my left knee that is a perfect map of the London Underground."—Prof. Albus Dumbledore
Early life becomes an exploration of invisible parameters, circles beyond circles, as one pushes out to test the boundaries of safety. There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map

Dunno how many of you have heard this, but apparently the remains of King Richard the 3rd have been found and dug up in a car park in England. The DNA testing confirms that it was the notorious "evil" King who was killed during a battle and his corpse and remains put up on display and buried unceremoniously without a coffin near a church.
If you'd like to know more you can see an article about it here: http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/03/world/europe/richard-iii-search-announcement/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
Sony is teasing something big to be announced at the end of February and everyone is naturally speculating that it's probably the announcement of the PS4. If this is true, it'll definitely be a shock to me since Sony never announces new consoles or hardware before E3. Only Nintendo seems to relish in announcing things with a blatant disregard of conventionality, so it would be very unique of Sony to do the same and announce a new console WELL before E3. Of c
Etrian Odyssey 4: Legends of the TitanOne of the things I love about the 3DS is the abundance of demos. They prompt me to try games I normally would never have looked at. Case in point: the demo for Etrian Odyssey 4 convinced me to give it a chance and try it, and it's proved to be quite addictive and well worth the risk.Etrian Odyssey 4: Legends of the Titan2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In many respects Etrian Odyssey is an old fashioned dungeon crawling adventure. Your party of explorers traverse the usual staple of mazes, fighting off monsters, gaining experience, leveling up, etc. Thankfully there are just enough modern day tweaks to the gameplay to shake things up.
You start by naming a guild of explorers and recruiting new members. These new members are more "icons" of their professions than actual characters. You can have up to 5 members in a party, but you can recruit many more than that and rotate characters in and out of your party whenever you're in town. Every time you gain a new experience level you also acquire a skill point, which you can funnel into the extensive skill tre

I'm doing Cover # 3 for the official Adventure Time comics! Words can't describe how excited and flattered I am to have this opportunity! When I was first offered the job, I had to take a break from my desk to DANCE. Working on official comics for one of my favorite cartoons has always been a dream of mine. I'm thrilled to be working alongside with webcomic royalty like Ryan North and Emily Carrol, and the other amazingly talented creators on board. <3
Here's a little teaser! I'm told the final colors for this cover may be tweaked slightly in the final. Shannon Watters (editor of Boom! comics) requested a more girl-centric cover, so as you can guess I really had a field day with it.
I may be doing more work for the comics in the future, but I'm not sure I can comment on that just yet. Stay tuned, an
