I know you want me gone
I know whenever my mouth opens you cringe
I know you think I’m stupid
I know you wish I would die
I know people hate me

I know I don’t get you
I know you don’t get me
I know you wish we really never met
And I’m sorry...

of your mouth turn up slightly - smiling
at some old memory or private joke
and i, quietly looking down,

but always, something shakes you to awareness
and your eyes focus, looking around
to draw your paper closer. and i
break a little more in knowing
you cannot be happy for more than a moment,
eternally stuck in your far-away universe.
maybe you'll come down

if all the world's birds were singing,
it still would not compare
to the symphonies of your kiss;
and this makes me sad!
through wild and happy fields
i've ran, only to discover:
tears can be captured,
but love is always free.

MasksEach of us wears a different maskMasks7 months ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
For daily use, and every task.
Knowing that, with the right face
We might fit in around the place.
Are they a real part of who we are?
Merely an aspect to help us get far.
Does the truth of the mask cover the lie
Make you feel good, or prompt you to cry.
They say that a mirror reflects in a different way
Dependant on the viewer to prompt what to say
But this simple saying hides the most obvious fact
That your own mirror image reflects your desperate act.
Its not always clear who is hurt most
The strangers, the friends, or you; the host.
Is this charade worth all the pain
When it’s not your true self that stands to gain.
Only we know whether it is through fear
That prompts us to make these false visages appear
But once they are there for all to see
Do you only become that which you appear to be?

A transition to new love CIELXREADER [part 8]A transition to new love CIELXREADER [part 8]2 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
It was a few weeks after the fight between Claude and Sebastian. Things at the manor had calmed down, there was no sign of anything new to come. Peaceful days had been all that was in sight. Sebastian, however, was extra cautious for Ciel. The entirety of his days were committed to him.
"____, I need to see you." Sebastian took your hand. "It's about the young master." Anything related to your new betrothed was worth hearing. You followed him into your guest room. The room that you had ignored. You'd been in Ciel's room every night.
"Ciel is in grave danger...I've done a decent job of keeping things hidden from him, yet, I needed your help. I understand that a demon should not be asking a mortal, a young mortal for help. But by the sake of my contract, whatever means necessary to protect my master, that action will be taken."
"I understand." You were unsure of what was going on, but you were all ears.
"Alois Trancy is planning an attack. Claude Faustus is another demon who is bound

Humans Are Like RagdollsMaybe humans are like ragdolls.Humans Are Like Ragdolls4 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
Some of us are manufactured,
With stitches that are a bit off.
And we get put back on the shelf.
While others are made perfectly,
Included with bows and pretty dresses.
But eventually we all get loose strings,
And we become such tattered, worn out things.
We all eventually pull at these loose ends
Until we all unravel.
And some can be sewn back together,
While others are broken forever.
CourageBeing courageous is a big risk. Speaking out your opinion is courageous.Courage2 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Especially if it goes against what many people say.
It's courage to speak it anyway. No matter what people say, or threaten.
I've decided that I'm going to take the stand.
God will back me up no matter what you will say about me, or what you believe.
Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendigo, I will make the right choice and stand for what is right.
My mouth cannot remain silent.
My tounge cannot remain quiet.
So my mouth, my tounge, and my soul will speak the truth of God and life.
And if i'm wrong God will correct me, no shame in making mistakes.
But anyhow I make my stand

Accept your Candle, Weep for the StarsA light I see, far off in the distance. It's a star, I told myself.Accept your Candle, Weep for the Stars3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
No other thought surpassed it, I want to reach it.
I struggle in the darkness, slowly heading for it, not knowing, not thinking.
I know this is what I want. I want the star.
It gets brighter, I can feel its warm touch, though I'm far from it.
Joy overwhelms my soul, I'm so close, so close to
my star. It's my star and nothing else matters.
I reach with my fingers, to touch it.
A candle. A lowly candle, my thoughts shattered.
This is not what I wanted. It's not my star.
I blink, and blink again, I see clearly. Up above.
There are hundreds, no millions of stars.
Why haven't I seen them? Why did I only notice that candle?
All of them, just there?
I reach for the sky, but they start to fade.
Why do they fade, but the candle still burns?
My candle. I get it now. It's my candle, I can't change that.
I accept that I will receive nothing else.
But I weep, I'll never have that star.
Or the other million that was within my grasp.

The Moon's Curse 2Many Many Years Later......The Moon's Curse 25 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
12-year-old Emily Kinney sat at the breakfast table, balloons and party streamers all around her. Today was her 12th birthday. Her mother and father sat across the table giving her sparkling packages, that seemed too pretty to be birthday gifts.
"I'm guessing this box went through a shower of glitter didn't it?" Emily asked her parents, joking of course as she took the present from their hands.
"I wanted this one to be special!" Her mom exclaimed. "It used to be my grandmother's, it has been passed down through our family for generations!"
Emily tried to shake the glitter off her hands, but instead, she just decided to open the birthday gift first.
Emily tore open the box, to find a small wooden box, engraved on it were the initals "E.K." and it was carved with swirls, stars and a delicate moon. She opened the box eagerly, to find a beautiful cresent moonstone necklace. It shone with a mischevious light, almost eerie. Emily picked up the necklace carefully,
You'll Never DieHear me read it!You'll Never Die2 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
They say that if a writer falls in love with you then you never really die.
Instead your body is laid out in its funerial shrouds and moulds are made. Soft impressions of you to be pressed onto the blank faces of future loves.
Every time I write of taking comfort in a safe place in a storm, it will be your forearm. Every half-made smile will be on your lips, and every touch will be constructed from the residue beneath your fingernails.
When I metaphise of trees' blood, the leaves that give the energy so that a willow can provide shade for those in need, it will be your blood, it will be your light drenched kisses.
Every tear on every face will taste of the sweat that you put into keeping me happy. Every soaring song of love will be played through your windpipe, your trachea my instrument of choice.
For every time that a hero has the strength to walk on, I will use your feet. I will weld them to my own and walk a mile. Wal
