I posted a WIP of this a few days ago such was my excitement of finding some smooth 'Bristol Board' A0 paper in downtown Shanghai, and how delighted I was with the progress of my 'Eye' drawing!! Well some late nights have enabled me to finish the piece. I have spent almost as long trying to decide how the final 'scan' should look - should I just upload a similar scan to the WIP, with the eye at an angle, perhaps with a couple of pencils to show scale - or should I do a full-on straight 'scan' as per my normal uploads. Decided to upload 2 versions, and leave it up to you to decide :):)

Anyway, enough waffle a Size A2'ish Female Eye approx. 65cm X 45cm, in graphite, using a range of pencils from 4H through to 8B. c20-30 hours work. My first, but maybe not my last Eye :)

Just found time over a very hectic trip back to the UK to fit in a quick and 'simple' drawing. Not original but a pencil sketch of a beautiful and fantastic photograph by nasht-01 [link] entitled O_O (you can see why).

I did ask for permission several times without reply, but noticed permission has been given before for someone else to draw the photo - so i am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be ok this time also :)

A3 Bristol Board using 8B through to 4H pencils and a light blending stump for some of the features - I had trouble getting my camera to pick up some of the subtle shading and I had to take it in a dark room, which caused a little shadowing - but still happy(ish) with the result.

Let me know what you think :)

As promised - I will occasionally upload some exclusive WIP pictures to the Watchers Group.
This particular drawing is taking me forever, the first time I have tried to draw something so large just in Pencil - and it maybe the last time! After a short conversation with the fantastic photographer Lee Jeffries, he gave me permission to draw one of his wonderful photographs, I see this as such an honour that I thought I needed to make it something special :D The drawing is 100cm X 60 cm and I have already worn out several pencils. I think I may be able to finish it by next week, but just thought I would allow you a sneak preview :)

Let me know what you think :)

Here is a WIP of my third eye drawing. The size is 20cm x 20cm and I had to use a new paper, with more texture. Usually I do not post WIPs before I finish the drawing, but a lot of people asked me to upload the WIPs, so here you go;) Here the finished work: flaval.deviantart.com/art/Eye-…

From what I understand about the reference is that the photo was actually taken in Losarang, Indonesia. However it reminded me so much of the Cormorant fisherman in Guilin, China - I added the background to make it look more Chinese that Indonesian (as I also live in China it felt more fitting :)

The largest and most time consuming piece I have ever undertaken; 65cm X 50cm on my newly found A0 Smooth'ish paper - thats a lot of paper to cover in pencil - which is why it probably took 40 hours to complete using mainly HB,2B and 8B pencils, sharpened eraser and blending stumps.

The reference used for this piece was by a great photographer Yoga Pratame, you can see more of his work and about him here [link]

So I finally finished this piece which I started about 6 months ago heh! I nearly didn't want to as I would do some bits totally differently now, which is why I never normally go back to old drawings.

It's a small picture about 4x5" so the pic you see is about actual size.

I do a lot of portraits with not much eye detail, so thought it would be useful to learn a bit more about the eye structure, which will help future work.

I got permission last year from Kanilorak to use her photo here as a reference, so big thanks to her!
