Seniority Announcements - January 2013Seniority Announcements - January 20134 months ago in deviantART Blog More Like This
This article marks the latest additions to the dizzy height of Senior members in our community. With just over 1000 deviants holding the highly saught after ` -- it's clearly a moment that deserves recognition.
:faq29:
So what does it take to become a Senior? That's a question many have asked and have never really been able to get a straight answer on. Some have gained Seniority as a thank you for their time spent as a Volunteer, or to recognise their contribution to a particular project or collaborative action. Some have gained Seniority because of their community spirit, providing help and assistance to many other deviants and taking time out to promote the work of others in the community.
Some people have received Seniority because of their artistic endevours, having a positive influence on their peers by sharing resources, providing constructive criticism and by being a voice that stands out above the many other

Movember is quickly coming to a close and the shave-off events are eagerly awaited by our Mo'Bros who have suffered through all sorts of mo-mishaps over the last 28 days. For those of you that have participated, I thank you and ask you to make the last two days really count and reach out to your friends and families for those last minute donations.
For the rest of you, I am making this final push on behalf of all of the deviantART Sta.sh teams to request that you reach into your pockets and make a donation, regardless of how big or small, to the Movember effort. I realize how hard this may be considering you're likely broke after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but should you find a dollar or two - we would greatly appreciate your donation
The amount isn’t important, every little bit helps Movember continue its funding of world-class programs. If you want to know more about what you’ll be helping to fund, you can visit

Hello everyone! I am Jude Christoper Roxas from the Philippines.
I am a person who loves colors (i hope that my gallery is evident enough to support that one). I am one of the many who values my friends and family so much. I love making friends, even to strangers too!
However, aside from the cheerful stuffs that i draw and show to the public, to those who know me so much, i am such a moody and deep person. I love to think, i love to be alone sometimes and i

Gallery Makeover ProjectHello everyoneGallery Makeover Project3 months ago in Community Relations More Like This
Recently my team and I worked tirelessly on a project to help improve the gallery descriptions and thumbnail examples. While that project was indeed tedious with almost 4,000 categories in our system, it was also educational. What I learned from sorting through thousands and thousands of categories was that we have a lot of redundancy and a lot of categories that seem to have been created on a whim that are now simply homes for junk.
Over the years, the desire to appease niche communities and people who just wanted a specific area has led to some categories that go up to 4 levels deep, and it's really no wonder it's so confusing for people to figure out where to submit their artwork.
The conclusion I've come to is simplicity. While I'm not about to rip apart everything and make 6 stand alone categories, I do believe that there is a lot we can do to simplify the category tree. That includes some of the following:
1. Merging categories that ma

Hi Amber! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm an enthusiastic, multitasking, motivational, always try to inspire kind of person! I was born and raised in Southern California, I'm an identical twin, and I've been an artist all my life (or at least since I could remember).
How did you discover deviantART?
A friend of mine back on IRC had mentioned something to me about an art website that I might be interested in. Curious and excited I came

1. Happy Holidays and Merry New Year
As the old year begins to fade into the sunset, it is customary to reflect on the passing year and make plans for the upcoming one. Some do this in the form of resolutions, some people make action plans, some people just swing into the new year the same way they swung out of the old oneWhatever way you intend to welcome in 2013, I hope you're surrounded by love and that you do it safely!
I've been reflecting on the year and like many, with some focus on the unimaginable events of the last few weeks. Specifically, the shooting in Newtown. I know that it's "human nature" to want to find

I read a very interesting article this week debating Photography Vs Literature and which one of the two tells us more. Of course there is always the element that a picture could be accompanied by words but neither aspect is enough to tell a whole story. But as the article says, Photography has become a universal constant in the world today and is accessible to nearly everybody. Yet many still believe that only pure narration can truly tell a story. What are your thoughts? As Photographers we can choose to limit what we tell or show with a photograph, we can even mislead. Can we convey more with words? Or more with an image? You could describe a person with words but never truly give an accurate picture of who they are visually without a photograph...

I never had to ask for it or apply. I was personally invited the first time, and I was asked to keep it up each time my contract ran out. It's a paid position, and I can work from home (i.e. wherever and whenever suits me), both pretty rare traits of internships.Okay, just kidding. Those are pretty nice, but they weren't really the best parts. The best part is what I get to do and for whom!

PE: dA help - in English or Other LanguagesOn a big site like deviantART you're no doubt going to come across something you have a question about or just don't quite understand. There are many channels you can use to find the answers to various types of questions - such as the +faq, the *welcome tour, the deviantART Tutorials category and the :#help: chatroom. Traditional Tuesdays #41Hi, and welcome to the 41st edition of Traditional Tuesdays. This week, like all of the other weeks, I'll be featuring fifteen works of art from the Traditional Gallery. Any more than that might and you might loss interest or it could cause your monitor to fail in an explosion of awesomeness. I would feel guilty if that were to happen, so I'm keeping it at fifteen! The Traditional gallery is a vast storeroom of work that covers many mediums and genres. I've tried to show a diverse array of artwork, but I don't have room for them all. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!Traditional Tuesdays #418 months ago in Art Features More Like This
