R.I.P. PockyIt's really hard for me to tell you this but Pocky passed away about 12 hours ago, at 1 pm Friday Oct 25th. I lost my balance in the colony cage and accidentally step on him who was behind me. He didn't die instantly. I thought he wouldn't. He could still fly and when I put him on my hand he had started panting. When I brought him inside my house, he had a fit then died.R.I.P. Pocky2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I can't stop crying now. I feel so horrible and hate myself. I miss him so much I can't stop crying and calling his name. It's so hard to accept his death. I can still feel him everywhere. Everything in my house reminds me of him. I can't sleep on my bed because I usually snuggled with him there before we went to sleep. I can't believe he had to go away like this. I feel so guilty no matter what I try to think of, no matter what my husband said. I can't even cry as harder as I want because he will be mad.
I don't know if Pocky knew his time would be up soon. But this month he wanted to cuddle more with me. He usually a

How to Make 2D Tile sets for games Part 1 + MoreHey everyone! How to Make 2D Tile sets for games Part 1 + More2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I just uploaded a new tutorial, the first in the series, all about making 2D tiles and tile sets for games!
Things covered in this episode:
- The anatomy of a basic tileset
- Setting up and using Photoshop's grid system for making tiles
- Using Photoshop's Offset filter to make tiles seamless
- Adapting a tiling texture into a tileset
- Some results of a finished basic tileset
- Thoughts and some opinions!
- I forgot to master the audio. Sorry if I sound just a tad muffly!
Also recently uploaded by Tyler Edlin, this video about perspective drawing where I also have a segment about how to make perspective grids in Photoshop!
By the way, have you been paying attention to my tumblr? I post stuff like this more often there, as I only see my DA journal as a means to communicate about mo
Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 63 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu

“Have you heard of Patreon?”
“Why doesn’t your site have a Donate button?”
Put simply, I have this (evidently archaic) opinion that; if you want to make money, you have to do the work first. I don’t like the idea of taking money off people unless they get something for it immediately, not [insert timeframe here] down the line. It feels like a scam. That’s why I produce all those cheap digital comics: to finance my larger projects (and which is why I get pissed off when I find them being distributed freely online, because it slows everything down).
Even for large projects, like video-games that only have a niche audience and which big publishers won’t ever assist: I don’t see crowd funding as a particularly good way to go about getting production capital. I prefer the early release approach, such as that Mojang took with Minecraft.

Hot Topic DA Art Theft...Maybe?Changed User AgreementsHot Topic DA Art Theft...Maybe?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You know what I hate about companies? The fact that they can, effectively, take their user agreements and update them without your consent. Thus changing the rules to something you’ve already signed long long ago. I signed up for DA 10 years ago but I’ve never once been asked to agree to the frequently new Terms of Service Agreements they keep updating.
Recently it’s been called to our attention that now DA can license your work, even fanart, off to other companies for a profit. DA gets licensing money, the product makers get money off the merch they sell... but the artist gets nothing. Worse yet, DA doesn’t even need to ask you for permission to do so.
This recently came to our attention in a big way when DA user :iconrismo: discovered that his Adventure Time fanart was being sold on Hot Topic without his knowledge. http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/Adventure+Time+In+The+Rain+T-Shirt-10171581.jsp

Drawing Tips for the Realist and Truth BombsOkay friends, I thought it was time to share a few more drawing tips as well as drop some bombs of truth. Now, I may get some angry responses, but please know that I don't do this to crush anyone's dreams, but to instead help some see the reality of some situations and not to forget what's really important.Drawing Tips for the Realist and Truth Bombs1 year ago in Personal More Like This
TRUTH BOMB#1: The odds are against you making a living as a professional artist
Explanation: Think of how many comic books there are....a lot right? Now think about how many comic artists there are on just DeviantArt, let alone around the world. The number of comic books seems a lot smaller, doesn't it? That doesn't mean to stop trying if that TRULY is your dream. However, keep in mind that industry is just like any other job...while you may enjoy drawing or art in general, that can definitely get negated when you are drawing stuff that you have no interest in drawing. So let's say you want to be a comic book artist, you aren't going to be put on Superman or Batman. Not

Kay (aka damphyr) is DeviantArt’s go-to expert on everything “Pokémon.” She also occupies the adventurous position of being one of DeviantArt's main enforcers of standards and practices. We thank her for being a guardian of artistic erotica and especially, for being able to answer every question we get asked about Pokémon and just about anything else for that matter. Supreme Keeper of all pop culture knowledge, Kay must be protected in case of global disaster.

Is it really that hard?Sometimes, I wonder about people. Is it really that hard?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have been posting my artwork on other sites in hopes to expand my audience.
And recently, I've been getting these strange questions.
"Where do you find this awesome art?"
"Who was the person who made this?"
Seriously, people, is it really that hard to even believe that the person who posted the image is actually capable of such talent? Is it hard to think that someone is actually capable of being at least competent in painting, drawing, or anything related to that.
I realize there are places where people will in fact steal art and then post it up on other galleries, art theft basically. But I'm not one of those people. Thankfully.
So, in this world of art thieves, has it really come to the point where, a person looking at one of these images can't not even fathom that the person who posted it isn't capable of drawing said image? Has it really come to that?
I know I have changed my signature to my Japanese nicknam
Preaching the TribulationGuys, I have been stopped by old men wanting to give out the new revisal of the New Testament and such. And I've heard the soap box preachers screaming through their microphones about how I'm gonna go to Hell for carrying an iPod.Preaching the Tribulation3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But this is the first time I have ever been stopped by one of the guys talking about the End Times. And yes I was stopped for an hour long conversation about the differences between the Jewish belief of the End Times vs. the Christian belief of the End Times.
And while yes, all that's written in the Talmud you Christians kinda knocked off to create the Revelations, I was still laughing my head off inside while talking to this guy because he and many Evangelicals are believing THE END IS NIGH!
Well, I sat and I listened and still, despite the fact I've read the Book of Revelations (BTW great horror book written over a thousand years ago by a guy who was actually narking on the Roman government than really relating the End Times such.

Quote by Lauren E. Simonutti
“ The misfirings of my beloved/despised mind that conspire to convince me to destroy all have rendered me housebound and led to a solitary life. A creature of past, proof, memory and imaginary friends, I am aware enough to know the things I see and hear are not real, but that does not mean I do not still see and hear them.”
For a very long time Lauren Simonutti's haunting photographs were a spectral presence amongst
