Someone requested some more information on this piece so:

This was made in mid-late 2005 and sold at the Texas Ren Fest. And this was the first harness of armor in which I did per my own design. (Before I had watched & helped my friend William make a suit for a customer in Arizona and picked up what I could from that)

The leather used was 10-12oz and was wetmolded from flat leather to the curves you see and most of the armor has two bands of border tooling. I actually made the helmet first, and it was my first helmet and I managed to do it without any guidance or ever seeing a helmet being made. The mask actually snaps off.

All the studs you see each have 2 prongs, and you must stab the leather with an exacto knife or some similar knife twice each time for the prongs to go through and then you must bend them over so it took a while. Later on though I got a hand press which did it for me which made life easier.

Any other questions just ask.

This mask is part of a series that I made as gifts for the members of the band 'Steam Powered Giraffe'. The designs are inspired by the makeup of each performer, as well as original artwork by :userbunnybennett: who plays the character Rabbit in the band.

This mask is for Sam Luke whose character is a bronze bot named Hatchworth. This one is a little different in that Sam is a vegan and leather wasn't an option! I ended up experimenting with craft foam (the same stuff I use to make mock-ups of the leather ones) until I figured out a way to make a psuedo-carved/tooled mask that mimics leatherwork. It's not quiiiite as 3D, but I'm really happy with how it turned out!

A few weekends ago I actually had the opportunity to present the masks in person to the band members at the Spring in Sepia concert! They were really well received, which is always exciting to hear, especially from artist to artist. It truly makes me happy to be able to share a little bit of what I love to create as a small thank you for all the amazing work they share with us. Eventually I will be making everyone in the band a mask of their own, but I was only able to finish these first three masks in time for the concert. More to come!

Here's a better pic of the Medieval Loki Armor

Custom Leather Fantasy Armor by Prince Armory

Consists of Helmet, Cuirass, Pauldrons, Full Arms, Full Legs, Tassets, Sabatons & Gauntlets, Cape, and Garment Skirting.

Hardened leather construction with brass hardware and some fabric bits. The horns on the helmet are water buffalo. It has some snake and wolf themes pertaining to the original Loki mythology/lore.  I’ll be doing some additions to the cape and making a magical staff prop and more down the road.

It is called Medieval Loki because I am doing a series called the Medieval Legends where I take popular modern and historic icons, superheroes and villains, and I approach the costume design from the standpoint of “What if this character was an armored knight in a Fantasy Medieval Universe?” Loki is the third incarnation after Medieval Batman and Medieval Aquaman. Medieval Joker is up next. Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Iron Man, Spawn, Deadpool, Green Lantern and more are also in the works : )  Joker is up next.

And there are a number of additions I'll be doing to this set in time.

I have three personal headdresses - Teva the wolf, Ashland the cougar, and Zenobia the lioness. I’m deciding to sell Ashland because she was part of my life in a time when I needed her, but that time has passed now and I think it’s acceptable for her to move on. The only minor problem is that since I cannot sell cougar parts within the State of Oregon, I’ll have to have my assistant up in Washington send her off for me, so shipping will take a little longer than usual.

If you are interested, I’ll be selling Ashland for $850.00 shipped. She was the first piece of true taxidermy I ever created, so she is not perfect, but I did use all professional materials and an expertly-tanned pelt. As a basis for comparison, commissioned cougar headdresses start at about $1,800.00 and takes about 6 - 8 months to complete. This is an opportunity to buy a taxidermy-style cougar headdress without the wait.  I will only sell her to you if you are located in a state where possession of cougar parts is legal. Ashland means a lot to me, but I know that I will likely never wear her again. She deserves to be in a home that will not only make use of her, but will do with great respect and care.

At one point, her eyes lit up to glow in the dark, but baby Blackjack gnawed the wire that connected the LEDs to their power source, so I removed the whole element. It would be easy to set it up again if you want to dedicate some time to it. It’s just not something I plan to do myself any time soon. As far as I know, this is the only headdress ever made with the option to have light-up eyes. So that’s a plus.

At any rate, I can obviously only sell this cat to people located in US states which allow possession of cougar parts. Please check all local laws prior to contacting me about purchasing her.
