i go to war with myself -
words i do not want sit on the tip
of my tongue, so i bite the whole
thing off - crimson droplets fall
from the sky, and i start bleeding
rain - dead babies, their heartbeats
slipping through the cracks in my
floorboards - kettles abandoning
pots and then finding that neither
can function properly - white sheets,
pillowcases, walls and white faces -
a rabid cat clawing at the inside of
my temple, let me out - krill in the
bellies of whales, their hearts like
empty lockets - suffocating in the
silver lining - secrets giggling like
children in my mind, a game of hide

a lamb frolicks around the body of a
lion and i reap something i never
even sowed in the first place

Owning a camera does not make you a photographerOwning a camera does not make you a photographer, the same way owning a pen does not make you an author.Owning a camera does not make you a photographer1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I think what justifies being able to call yourself a photographer is the ability to take a good photo.
Anyone can take a photo, but not everyone can take a good photo.
Almost everyone owns a camera, I'm sure the majority of you even have one on your cell phone. And what does it take to use the camera and take a photo? Simply the ability to click the shutter button. Everyone's got sliding filaments capable of creating a muscle contraction allowing you to apply force onto a shutter button to click it and effectively take a photo. Anyone can take a photo. Does the ability to click a button make you an artist? No.
As I mentioned before, I think what justifies being able to call yourself a photographer is the ability to take a good photo. It's the ability to know the best angle, composition, lighting, temperature, depth of fie

I'm talking to you, pervertsI think it's finally time I address one of the things I hate the most about deviantART, perverts.I'm talking to you, perverts8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Actually, to be fair, it's not just limited to deviantART, but rather the internet as a whole, where if you vaguely resemble a female, these guys will be on you like a magnet.
I've been on deviantART ever since I was 14 and I, like many of my friends on here, have had my fair share of internet perverts. I won't get into legalities, but I've seen and heard many absurd things. I've had men blatantly ask me for photos of my tits- and that's only the beginning.
Now, I do not speak on behalf of my entire gender, I am speaking only for myself. I am not your average dumb bitch hungry for a shallow compliment and cheap attention.
For any internet perverts that might be reading this, let me tell you a few things about myself.I attend one of the top research universities in the entire world.
At this prestigious university, I am double majoring in chemistry and biology.
I am very good at what I do.
How did you get so good at photography? How did you get so good at photography? How did you get so good at photography?5 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Over the past three years of my devious existence, Ive gotten asked this question quite a few times. So, Im finally going to take the time to answer this question properly.
The best way you can learn to take good photos is by practice!
I cant stress this enough.
A good photographer has a good eye, and by a good eye, I mean he has the ability to:
Look at something and realize how much photographing potential it has.
For example, a pencil on the floor probably wouldnt make a good photograph, but a path in an autumn forest would.Looking at whatever hes photographing and knowing how to shoot it (the angle, the composition, ect.)And being able to use his post-processing materials correctly to make the photo look its best.
Considering that, I believe the best way to learn how to take good photos is by practicing and developing your eye through trial and error.
For me, photography is made
Need faces? We've already had "Need references?" and "Need textures?", time for something else. This actually is about references again, but about these more specified ones. Emotions. How many times have you wondered why is that the faces you draw look as empty as dead? Depicting moods can be a very hard task. Try sketching yourself (yes, a mirror would be a nice thing to have in this case), pull faces at diffrent angles, change light. And take a look at these below. Help out?Hey guys,Help out?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I don't usually do things like this, but I really need your help. I'm Monika, a 17 year old girl from Australia.
5 years ago, I got sick. I was diagnosed with Chonic Lyme Disease 3 years later, at the end of 2012. Having a diagnosis, I thought "Great! I'll finally be able to get better." But it didn't exactly go like that. I had a bad reaction to the antibiotics, which nearly caused my death.
Since then, we have tried a lot of different things, but nothing is really working.
As you can imagine, the medication and treatments and medical bills are piling up, and my parents are struggling financially.
Of course, I feel like it's all my fault, and I'm trying this in an attempt to help them continue to pay for my medication, and help me get over this horrible disease.
Any donation would mean the absolute world to me, and could bring me one step closer to recovering.
Even just sharing the link and getting this fundraiser noticed
