Spring time in Austin, Texas

The bluebonnet, a name common to several North American species of Lupinus, is the state flower of Texas. They typically grow about 0.3 m (1 ft) tall. The name is possibly derived from the shape of the petals of the flower and their resemblance to the bonnets worn by pioneer women to shield themselves from the sun. It may instead be derived from the Scottish term Bluebonnet, for the traditional blue coloured version of the Tam o'shanter hat.

Urban legend
It is a persistent urban legend that it is illegal to pick bluebonnets in Texas, possibly because the bluebonnet is Texas' state flower. In fact, it is perfectly legal to pick them.

When I went skiing, I decided that it was best to also take pictures while going on alone. I saw this spot and decided that I should take a picture of it. I love the snow so this kind of view is rather relaxing for me.

The Dewdoink

These creatures were genetically spliced and bred by farmers down south specifically for human consumption. initially intended for the farmers families during drought seasons but they later realized the income potential if they sold and exported the meat.

A mixture between a dewdong/manatee and your average domesticated pot bellied pig, the Dewdoink is a massive tank of an animal; capable of providing a normal American family with enough bacon & sausage for two & a half months on a daily basis.

They live in expansive habitats on the nearby bayous and marshes of farms off the Gulf of Mexico. they spend most of their time sleeping, lumbering around, and grazing on the sea grass that grows out of the sand beds.

Here, we are viewing a rather portly stud around 10 years of age. Males usually grow to be about 20 feet long while the females tend to average about 10.
The largest one ever recorded was a male at 25.7 feet and tipped the scales at a whopping 1,879.2 lbs.

Here's my entry for dA's Splice contest. i decided to enter last night but didn't know where to start. then a little voice in my head shouted "Bacon fish!"...and thus the Dewdoink was born.

I tried experimenting with other styles here. scale, atmosphere, tone, blur, & perspective. it was a LOT of fun to do.

I love this guy.

Humans on the whole tend to be so self reliant, so dependent upon the things that we have and the things we make, that we become things ourselves. We ignore the path of the divine in favor of artifice. It is my dream that we will one day wake up and be amazed by the incredible gift of Creation that so many of us take for granted.

We as humans embody the power to accomplish our dreams in life more than we probably realize. This tree symbolizes just how bright an individual can shine if he or she merely dreams.

My last entry for the Wacom Dreams contest.
