That rains so lightly upon
The cold, glittering snow
Before that star is gone
Shelter from the cold night
Until the brilliant dawn
The return of the soothing light
Of which we've grown so fond
Too often, the more distant stars
Go, in our ignorance, forgotten
They're away from us, so very far
But from them, are our lives begotten
The Music of the Spheres
Is audible to attentive ears
Listen to that magnificent symphony
That of the vast, dark eternity
Burning Orb of Luminescent Glory
Eclipse the whole of the human story
Lashing out with tongues of fire
Trivialize all human passion and desire
Stars are within us
As we are but a small part
Of the Forever All;
The Wonderful Universe

Clouding doubt in my mind that was once clear.

Making my mind become un-spun.

No lights, no earth, no sound.
Free floating, but not flight.
No solid, no gravity, no ground.
No up, no left, no down.
An endless space with no walls.
No locks, no rooms, no halls.
Must be in the deepest part.
No running, no lagging, no stalls.
Yes, I must be in space after all.
But the emptiest part.
I stay floating.
Neither one way nor the other going.
Trying in my deciding of what to do.
Simply breathing. Still not showing.
Contemplating every decision, outcome, need for knowing.
And then there was you.
You floated with me, clung together, tender tightness.
We sat together in the familiar silence.
Mystified with each other’s presence.
But this just waiting, stalling, not flying or falling.
No voices, no hearing, no motivation, no calling.
Wasn't doing either of us any justice.
Fed up, blindly, undecidedly, I leapt out of the dark.
From my safe known unknown to a new part.
Perhaps for the better, perhaps for the worse.
A new start, new pl

They’ll never know
And we won’t hold it against them.
It’s not like they owe
It to us to make us feel like men
And women that are destined for greater things.
They have a higher purpose and calling.
It is they who have a bigger say in the world we live in.
Yes our lives may be predictable and boring.
But we have all in some way earned our positions.
In this life there are followers and then there are leaders,
And it’s the leaders that make those cut throat decisions.
Just like in school, you have the underachievers and the divas.
They have abilities and talents that are deemed useful
And it doesn’t matter whether they are dishonest or truthful.
Because we will still look and depend on them regardless
And the routines we enact everyday are ordinary and far less
Interesting, glamorous or meaningful.
That’s why we need them to be on a pedestal.
They can never know what its like,
To be so close to the lime light.

Drowning Out The World
I find myself in the sounds-
I release my secrets in the lyrics
Inner peace is found-
The melodies calm my spirit
But when silence falls
The walls in my head break down
I'm consumed by stinging thoughts
And every regret cries out
Reality and time stop
The serenity within – goes silent
And then my mind floods
My past memories become violent
I get this sensation-
That I'm just too damaged
A truthful realization-
There's nothing left of me to salvage
Music is just a distraction-
To blind myself from the carnage
I remain lost in the destruction-
Where darkness has the advantage
The remnants of rhyme hinder-
The memories and I resist to coexist
As I let the essence of fear become louder-
I can't defy this quiet pestilence
I don't want to be a part of the silence
But it keeps pulling me back
It's erasing the meanings of every promis
Stars You breathed in the robust idea of being aloneStars3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
in the milky way with nothing on your back
but the silk cloth of skin
and you exhaled the heroic sovereignty of saving
the poor polluted starlight,
cradling sweet nothings about how those
luminous explosions in the sky were
the iridescent threads and ribbons
that kept our planets gently knit together.
You told me the galaxy was filled
with incandescent jewels
things like topaz encrusted souls
and cosmic layers of adoration made of
bright celestial spirits.
You had whispered your final
words with the quiet sublteness
of a moon just passing by,
saying or rather deciding that
"Stars are just diamonds with a lightbulbs intentions."
Golden Ink and Going BackI thought I was in love with that four-year old red-haired boyGolden Ink and Going Back3 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Shining in a silver knight costume with a black dragon sewn on
Because I was in the pink Sleeping Beauty Dress
I was a good Belle, too
(Back when I hadn't picked up a book
Except for the blue one with the golden pages
Brimming with witches and fairies and magic)
I wanted to be a princess, back then
They were the ones who always found love, at the end
I wanted to be Wendy, too
Because she wore a blue nightgown and learned to fly
Now, I'd rather be Peter Pan, honestly
Because he managed to swerve this whole ordeal of growing up
(And maybe a little because of the flying)
Now, I just want to go back
Back when the only kissing I thought about
Was in The Princess and the Frog
And the only houses I had to be weary of
Were houses made of candy
Back when the only disappointment
Was when my parents were too tired to read me a bedtime story
Or when I found out that the real Little Mermaid

A World of WordsThis written word strung together,A World of Words3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Played off in a cacophony of beauty,
Dancing around in a field of verses.
Visible to all with eyes in their heads,
Or ears sensitive and perked,
But only known to those who watch.
Those chosen few who sit in silence,
Listening to a mute orchestra,
Or watching an invisible ballet.
The truth behind what is visible,
Is seen and created by their worn minds,
Lips upturned with furrowed brows.
Broken hands feeling no pain when creating,
Their minds, hearts and souls filling the page,
In a cacophony of beauty, spilling across the world.

What is this thing
That's come over me
You're here inside,
Around the dead
Bringing sweet life
Flying high on Golden Wings.
Your bleeding heart
Pour onto me
I'll take away
If you ache,
Sing it to me-
I'll hear your song
I'll start to bleed
Til the sun falls out of the sky,
I'll take your hand,
Heart and your Life

Clarisse McClellan, you are beautiful
A white dress fluttering around the pale
Legs that dance to an unheard melody
Face vivid like the night moon
Clarisse McClellan, your eyes are like mirrors
I see my reflections in them as you watch me
And I wonder who I really am
And who you are to me
Clarisse McClellan, you are a wood-sprite
You know what it means when
Dandelions leave a yellow glow under your chin
You are in love, it means, with whom?
Clarisse McClellan, you know that rain
Tastes like wine, when you open your mouth to it
And that dandelions bloom in the yards in autumn
And you dance, and walk, and stay up all night just to watch the sun rise
Clarisse McClellan, you asked questions of life
Did not want the given answers poured
Into your head with a funnel at classes
You wanted to seek the truth and share it with me
Clarisse McClellan, you were quick
But not enough to escape the raging machine
You hated how fast and nosily they moved
And died, still disliking it,

But to find beauty in our flawed one.
Because It makes me feel like a god,
I can create mountains,
And then destroy them.
I don't like this world,
So I create my own.
Because I want to prove emotions exist,
I want to make people scream, cry, throw things, all because of my words.
On the off chance I can create something just a little more than words on a page.
Because no one really listens,
When I talk.
Because I'm in love with the sound the keys make when you type,
And the way the pencil moves over paper.
Because I want people to care about my characters,
The way I care about theirs.
Because I can't live forever,
But I can create something that will.
Because I want to change the world.

The Words I Didn't Mean
Your last steps seemed to echo
While I watched you walk away
You're leaving me in our love's shadow
And all I can feel is a piece of me break away
The shock starts to sink in
Every pore is conquered
A fissure begins within
I'm torn asunder
Liquid memories drip from my face
My heart will always remember this kind of pain
The love that was shown on this day will remain in vain
I didn't know how much passion could weigh
Or the damage it could do when it betrays
Fused with the words that I never even wanted to say
Compassionless by nature / A lonesome torture
Unloved by liars / Sought by manipulators
Breathing in shards / Tearing out hearts
Caught off-guard / Soul is scarred
The regrets won't let me breathe
The thick tears protect me from what I don't want to see
This fresh wound over my chest is where your place used to be
Pathetically rooted by my knees
I reach for you through the debris
Even though there's no one who can salvage me

Suffocated and alone,
You don't know where I'm buried but you don't seem to mind; I'm sure the thought never even crossed your mind..
As time goes on I began to cry, my tear sprout a single rose above my head.
But you stomp on it, crushing it and killing it; without quite realising what you did.
You've stopped the growth of a bed of rose and killed them all instead.
And now I lie there, no tears left to shed; my heart can't take it anymore, you've left me for dead.
...Suffocated and alone...
But you don't seem to mind; I'm sure the thought never even crossed your mind..

you prima ballerina,
you queen of chrome,
you photo assassin,
you perfect click,
you who gave birth to Johann Zahn,
or his brainchild atleast:
the camera obscura - you know what that is?
Or at you at a loss for words?
Like the OED is -
when it sees you in THAT picture,
and you look THAT good.
I really must say:
this picture was taken -
on a dreary day?
Of course the other explanation - less likely -
will surely cross your mind:
The creator worked on a certain countenance
amid a brutal bout of ping pong
or was she inspired by an English breakfast?
You know - a slice of bacon, a sausage and two eggs?
Naturally, we can still blame the lens
or claim the polaroid marksman was -
a fair bit dense?
or perhaps hint at the lighting being all wrong
or pretend I had huffed a rather potent bong?
or maybe try to down this picture -
with a dash of sepia?
or call up the nearest photoshop addict -
to work his magic here
