The Panda Princess - NejiTen Day*~The Panda Princess~*
Lady Tsunade stared at them with bloodshot amber eyes, seeming absolutely exhausted even though it was barely ten in the morning. "I know that one of you is a jounin and the other two are chuunin, but..." She hesitated, fiddling with the files in front of her, making sure all edges aligned perfectly with each other as well as the sides of the desk before she looked up again. "I'm giving you a D-rank mission today."
Tenten fought back an impulse to twitch. D-rank? She searched her memory, flipping through her team's last few missions in an attempt to remember if any of them had done anything unforgivably horrible. Lee, of course, had been Lee: wildly loud and enthusiastic and himself; Gai, as always, an older version of Lee (or perhaps Lee was, instead, a younger version of Gai?); Neji his unflappable self: strong, silent, with that one vein in his forehead occasionally protruding from suppressed irritation
NejiTen Request Drabble: Kiss and Make UpTitle: Kiss and Make UpNejiTen Request Drabble: Kiss and Make Up2 years ago in Humor More Like This
Summary: First kisses are usually thought of as romantic, but that doesn't mean they always have to be. Takes place when Neji and Tenten are both six and at the Academy.
“Now isn’t there something you want to say?” Iruka prompted, gently nudging Tenten forward.
The six year old folded her arms and shot a glare at the small boy only a few feet away from her. Neji was glaring back, his white eyes now further emphasized by a large black mark directly under his right one. Tenten didn’t even bother hiding a smug grin at her handy work.
“No.” Tenten said promptly, stomping her foot slightly as Iruka sighed deeply. The other teacher, a new woman she didn’t know well, mirrored Iruka’s body language as she stood by Neji.
“Come on, Tenten, you don’t want to hurt your classmates, do you? I know you’re mad…” the woman started only for Tenten to narrow her eye’s further and point

My utmost apologies for troubling you, but it appears you've been assigned a difficult mission. I am taking this time to remind you of our training. I have all of my faith in the fact you'll succeed, but you tend to let your guard down on your right side. Make sure to be aware of that. It wouldn't be beneficial to the team if something were to happen. Please excuse me, though, for speaking so forwardly. We all await your return.

I'm on my way back to Konoha as I write this. Your reminder about my dropped guard really helped on the mission. We were able to complete the mission sooner than we expected. I really appreciate the time you put into sparring with me. Thank you. I also want to say how much your note meant to me as well. We'll be back in a month—give or take the weather. Wishing to be home...

The Four Winds of Konoha CH.1CHAPTER 1 : The Winds of ChangeThe Four Winds of Konoha CH.13 years ago in Romance More Like This
The war had ended, and despite all that had changed, when the shinobi that fought in it returned to their homes, life continued on as it had before the war. Sure, there was a lot to clean up, villages to rebuild, peace treaties left to sign, a new Hokage to be promoted, and shinobi to be recalled from formerly enemy, now ally, territories. But otherwise, life went on.
"Still the feeling of change is inescapable," Tenten mused as she munched on a crisp celery stick in her hand; part of the lunch she was eating while sitting at the base of the large oak tree that grew in one corner of hers and Nejis training field. The one that had the heart with the T, ampersand and N carved into it. The very same heart that for the longest of time Neji had mistakenly believed read "TEN" when in fact it was their initials that were carved into the wood. Of course this was before the two of them had started dating and the long time crush had seemed

A whisper at the very back of her mind teased Tenten - poking, taunting, probing. It made her absolutely certain she'd forgotten something, something very important...
...And all the more frustrated when she couldn't grasp the elusive memory to identify it.
Lifting her fingers to brush at the stitches along her hairline, Tenten shouldered her bag with her opposite hand. She looked up at the person standing in the doorway of her hospital room, patiently waiting for her to finish. "Ready to go," she said cheerfully. "Thanks for coming by to pick me up."
"Hn." Hyuuga Neji stepped back to allow her past, then fell into step with her as they made their way down the relatively quiet hall. "Anywhere you need to go before home?"
"No, I don't think so. Lady Tsunade gave me all the medication I need when I signed the release papers, and I'm just looking forward to going home." Her steps faltered momentarily, and she frowned as she remembered. "Well - my

Sometime well after midnight, the downpour ceased and the sky cleared over the capital of the Land of Rain. Hyuuga Neji lay in bed in the modest inn, flat on his back, white eyes open without a hint of tiredness as he watched the shifting patterns of moonlight across the ceiling. The weight of his increasing responsibilities -- both those imposed by himself and those others desired to impose -- felt like a giant hand on his chest, pushing him down, down, until he was sure he'd dissolve into the earth, never to be seen again.
ANBU. Liason between the main and branch portions of his family. His "duty" to marry and advance the strength of the clan.
Very few times in his life had Neji ever experienced the urge to scream -- none of which he especially wanted to remember. He preferred to think of himself as a rational, calm, and above all self-controlled person. But right then he felt like screaming. At the top of his lungs. And once he starte

It wasn’t often Tenten kept Neji waiting. She was nearly as punctual as he was himself. Being late was not something tolerated. So when Neji found himself sitting on her sofa waiting for his teammate and friend to emerge from her bedroom, the Hyuuga prodigy had to ask why.
“Nothing. I’ll be out in just a minute,” the girl responded in a sweet voice.
“Hn.” Tenten laughed at Neji’s expected tone. He was ready for their daily training and wanted to get started.
But first the girl had to finish painting her nails for her date that evening.
She had been outright shocked when a civilian boy had approached her the previous day with the timid request for a dinner date the following night. Unsure of her answer, Tenten had reluctantly agreed. It wasn’t like she had any other plans. And since it was an… unusual event for her, she had decided to dress up a little; which included painting her finger and toe nai
Birthday Presents NejiTen"So Neji" The young white eyed man looked over at his female teammate, stretched out on the grass beside him. "Yes Tenten?" He hated saying that phrase, because her reply usually got him into trouble. She smirked at him, not a good sign.
"Anything you want for your birthday?" Neji was surprised to see it was an innocent question like that.
"There's nothing in particular that I want. Don't worry yourself with it." He said apathetically, closing his eyes, signaling that he wished to meditate. Usually Tenten accepted that this was the end of the conversation, but today she was particularly stubborn. Getting up, the kunoichi sat right in front of Neji, staring at him until he finally opened his eyes as if to say 'what?'.
"There has to be something you want, it's your 18th birthday!" Tenten said, looking right into his pupiless eye

“That’s not it, Neji!” Tenten shouted, frustrated. “You’re supposed to put your pinkie on the black key, and keep your point finger on the third white one!” she instructed, pointing to each key as she mentioned them.
She exhaled then, before glaring at him. Who knew how hard it would be to teach the prodigy how to play the piano?
And here she was, scolding him, but the Hyuga was unusually quiet. That was good. But what annoyed her most was that he even seemed to be enjoying it!
“What is wrong with you?” she asked. “You sick?” she placed a hand on his forehead, genuinely worried that he may have come up with something that would cause him to act like this. At the moment of contact, however, it was she who withdrew her hand. Not from any signs of sickness from the Hyuga, but from the own heat she f
Cliches NejiTenI've always hated Romeo and Juliet. I mean how do you meet someone and instantly decide that they're the person that you would die to be with in heaven?Cliches NejiTen3 years ago in Romance More Like This
The famous 'star crossed lovers' only spoke to each other four times before they committed joint suicide. All the meetings (except for the fourth and there wasn't that much talking involved in that one) were very brief, and not particularly profound. Hell, they only spoke twice before pledging their undying love (give me a break) and decided to throw it all away to get married. Romeo was 16 and Juliet was 14, barely old enough to even procreate, and certainly not old enough to have a romance for the ages.
Romeo only cared about Juliet because she was pretty, the priest even told him off for his fickle emotion that could go from Rosaline to Juliet without even batting an eye.
My rant aside, you can clearly see my disdain for Romeo and Juliet and the whole concept of 'love at first sight'.
Yet the instant I saw him, heard the words come

Tenten sighed as she walked home that night, shedding off her bulky, heaving white shirt and just leaving herself in a black, half-tank top she dawned underneath it. Today had been, by far, one of the worst ones of her life. None of her teammates were around, they were all busy that day, And as for everyone else? They didn't have time either, can you believe that? And on today of all days, the day she wanted to forget everything and just do something that she would have to completely focus on. Today is the very day of the anniversary of her parents' death, during the Kyuubi attack on the village, sixteen years ago. This day also being known as a certain Uzumaki's birthday, but she didn't burden that as such. She knew it wasn't Naruto's fault, and she didn't view it as that at all. She was only a year old, and now the only thing she had left of them was three pictures. One taken of her, herself, and her father on the day she was born, a pictur

Sun streaked through the open window. It hit the foot of the bed just enough to warm it, but not enough to actually wake the occupants. Despite the early hour, though, one of them was already laying with eyes open.
"Hmmm." Tenten sighed. She snuggled down into the blankets wanting to fall back asleep but finding it impossible.
The arms wrapped around her midsection tightened with the slight movements she had made. Neji's thumb began running smooth circles against her skin as he also began to wake. It was something he always did when the two shinobi lay in a bed together. Tenten knew it was an unconscious habit, but she liked to think he did it to her on purpose.
These types of missions were her favorites. It gave her one-on-one time with Neji that could rarely be found on other more dangerous jobs or even back home in Konoha. Plus the cover of being husband and wife came with the perk of sharing a bed.
She'd never admit it out loud t
Don't Look Back NejitenTeam Guy raced down the halls of the small fortress. Lee and Guy raced ahead with Tenten and Neji not to far behind. Neji had his Byakugan activated and was scanning the hallways for any signs of life. Due to some amount of foresight on the part of the designer of the strong hold the sides of the hallways were lined with led, allowing the white eyed jonin to only see the path they were on.
Tenten heard the familiar sound of a sword being drawn and stopped, looking for the source. Neji realized a moment later, but by then it was too late, the trap had closed. Lee and Guy were far ahead, looking back in time to see Neji and Tenten sectioned off from them by a large metal panel.
The kunoichi of the team saw the same thing happen on her end, leaving Neji
Tanabata NejiTenLegend tells of two lovers, separated by the waters of the Heavenly River, only allowed to meet on one day of the year. Tanabata had always been Tenten's favorite time of the year, the kimonos, festivities and colorful decorations that covered Konoha. It was a beautiful time of the year, and every year Team Gai went to the festival together, Tenten surprising giggles at Lee and Gai challenging passersby to beat them in whatever carnival game they were around, and Neji, well Tenten knew he was slightly amused as well.
This year however the kunoichi sat alone in her apartment, some hot chocolate in hand as she dedicated the day to cleaning her entire weapons stock. Every weapon she owned, and there were a lot of them, were placed on the floor of her apartment as she went through them one by one.

Neji and Tenten were married on a Sunday in March, the sun bright in the sky. They were only 23, but ninjas didn't tend to live into there thirties so no one said anything. Neji actually smiled, a real true smile, when Tenten glided down the aisle, flushed with happiness. They kissed at the alter, danced at the reception, and were waved off to their honeymoon by happy friends and family.
It seemed to be perfect, and for that one day it was. The following day however, proved to be the worst day of Neji's life.
They knew it was coming, and knew that it would have to be done before the pair set off to the Land of Waves for their two week getaway, but Neji had never imagined it would be so horrible. It was the day Tenten received the curse mark.
Dressed in all white the pair sat stoically together as the Elders prepared for the marking ceremony. Tenten gave Neji's hand a little squeeze as if to tell him it was alright, as if he was th

So he's dead now. So they say.
It's night time.
She's crying silently into her sleeve, and she can't sleep because whenever she closes her eyes she sees him, his forehead and eyes blank. All she can feel is overwhelming despair, like a gaping abyss in front of her, a blank hole where her future should be, and there's just this ache in her chest, a dull pain that hurts so much she's doubled over.
It's still not real. She still can't believe it.
She wants to punch something.
… She misses him already.
(I should've been there.)
She can't help feeling like she will see Neji walking around, strong and silent, and he'll smirk-smile at her and everything will be alright.
(I should've been the one who died, protecting him.)
