Sasori's Past episode#319. SO CONFUSED!+REFERENCES Amazing episode IN SOME MANY WAYS!!!! I don't understand why but personally, I haven't found it a filler episode at all! They are talking about an akatsuki member's past. I wish we could see someday another episode about WHY he turned into a human puppet and killed 3rd kazekage!Sasori's Past episode#319. I'm SO glad that Sasori flash back has been drawn and colored SO GOOD (the characters looked so good and some background scenes looked like a true masterpiece) if we compare it with the non-flash back scenes in the same episode about Chiyo vs. Kankuro fight. I loved Sasori's workshop btw (although it looks so different from the one of the old shippuden episodes)
Ok, I have seen the episode subbed in 2 languages: in english and my native language. Both versions said just the opposite and the subs translations from the japanese audio looked so confusing and lame to me, so please I hope you understand why I'm still confused:

Hello! It's C-91 here and, after people asking me tips on how to make flowers with Apophysis, I decided to write this introduction guide for the Fractal Week. There might be more in future.
Live with it: crafting flowers with Apophysis isn't the most original thing ever, but at least we can try to approach to the technique in another way and try to make them different from the multitude of results that can be found here on DeviantArt.
First of all, check the two blooms tutorials by lindelokse, which are the starting point for this technique:
Before we start...
Just so you know, 2D flowers are generally more versatile and suitable for crazy experiments than 3D ones. You can use more variations and plugins on 2D flowers without messing the shape up (and they will still be as spectacular as 3D flowers).
Need help with your colouring? If you have a hard time finding colours that work together, or need inspiration. I found a colour scheme generator!Need help with your colouring?2 months ago in Personal More Like This
The site generates a colour scheme with colours that compliment or work well together. And from there you can edit them to be darker, brighter, softer, cooler, etc..
This is particularly helpful if you're planning a large piece, or painting. If you are experienced you know that choosing your colours before hand is important for the overall impact of your piece. This is even more important for traditional work, because you cannot edit the colours once they are on the paper/canvas.
The site is Coolors.ca

Here is my first ever article (one that's legit and proof-read several times that it's giving me a headache - and btw I suck at writing essays and such when I was in high-school, leave me be! XXD ^^) that talks about the importance of having a fundamental and visual understanding of how the human anatomy works for comics artists like myself. It is now added to my 'Making Comics' section which I hope will provide useful tips and suggestions to comic artists who want to improve on their craft!

'Life Drawing 5' by algaegoblin
Do you know how to sketch human figures but do you want to refine your anatomy skills? Or do you not know anatomy at all and you are tired to trust your imagination? Did you notice you create disproportions in your drawings?
If you are aspiring artists and you already have your own style, you might as well believe you have no need of a guide, but you are wrong. Before exaggerating human proportions and begin to have your own style, you first have to know the basics.
This little guide is the result of an accurate research and 5 years of high school of art, and it's created for all those who want to learn something new or just make a useful review.
For those who have already studied art, my suggestion is to go to step 6 or trying to repeat all steps in Digital format.
First of all, if you want to learn faster you should draw using traditi

Quick bit of help here, because I'm not sure if everyone knows the best way to handle this if you want to record your progress while drawing in Photoshop, Manga Studio, Painter, whatever.
IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWSYou may have tried some of the screen recorders out there like CamStudio, FRAPS, or some free ones out there. You may have noticed, or had become frustrated with, the fact that many of these programs cause a significantly huge hit on your system's performance. When you try drawing in Photoshop, your tablet response comes to a screeching halt. Then you find a program that records without impacting your drawing performance -- only to find that the resulting video recorded at about 1 frame every 3 seconds. Then you tried FRAPS, then found out that 4 minutes of video resulted in a 3.2GB file. All of these are less than ideal.
A while back, I searched all over the net for a program that encoded video from my screen

Syn's Dithering TutorialWhat is dithering?Syn's Dithering Tutorial2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Dithering is a pixel art process used to blend blocks of colour together or help apply a texture to a pixelled surface. Within emoticons it is most commonly used when making pixelled backgrounds, however it can be used in a number of other areas, e.g. massive emote bases, pixel objects etc. In this tutorial, we will focus on how 2 colours can be blended with dithering.
To break dithering down into simple terms, it is achieved by simply taking the colours from the two blocks of colour and placing individual pixels of each on the opposite side. This creates a region where the two colours merge together to create a more blended colour transition instead of a clear line between the two.
Dithering can seem like a complex process, but it's really not. Once you get the basic idea and technique, it's just all about practice and over time you'll learn how to apply it to a number of different situations. There are many dithering styles which can be

Become a better artistTo improve and become really good at art. Isn't that what all of us, artists, secretly wish for? That we, one day, become as good as the idols we've looked up to.Become a better artist2 years ago in Art Features More Like This

In the journal here, I listed some tips and tricks that helped me getting to the point where I am now. I thought I'd share them with you. And maybe you can add to the list. I'm always willing to learn.
Give up on being a mangaka -- or hold more realistic expectations
Admit it. Most of us here started drawing manga because we liked the style at a certain point. How awesome would it be to one day become a pro in that field. A real manga artist (or mangaka, like they say in Japan)! The truth is... becoming a mangaka isn't that easy. It it were, many more people would be one. First of all, mangaka's live in Japan. That's the only country with a manga industry big enough to actually ha
Tutorials and techniquesQuite a lot of people keep asking me for tutorials and to be honest I see no point in creating yet another strip on how to paint skin/clothes/light/carrots/whatever. There are so many of them out there that it would be simply a waste of time to sit and basically copy what's already been told.Tutorials and techniques4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Instead, I've decided to make a compilation of different tutorials and charts that I personally use to learn how to paint.
The most important thing you need to learn even before starting to read a tutorial is that all walk-throughs are meant for you to understand how things work. My point is that after reading and later practicing a tutorial called 'how to paint a glass duck' you should be able to paint not only a glass duck but also anything else made of glass. You should concentrate on understanding the rules and patterns instead of trying to copy what you see on the image. Otherwise you'll end up knowing how to paint only a few things from only one perspective and one lightning pattern.

PE: Importance of AnatomyThe importance of anatomy.PE: Importance of Anatomy3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Understanding anatomy is crucial to many aspects of your art.
You'll notice that anatomy is essential for drawing. It becomes difficult to accurately draw a complex pose, or even a simple one, if you don't understand what's under all that skin or fur, or even bark. Knowing how everything fits together is important.
Once you notice where that certain muscle is, shading and form become much more accurate and more natural. Knowing why the nose and eyes fall where they do make it much easier to draw from memory, and nail that natural look you were going for.
Learning the anatomy of the subject you're going to draw is quite important, and will definitely help you on several levels.
It's also easier to drawing sequences of movement. One will know what connects to what, and how they move. What is possible, and what isn't. (Range of motion)
Drawing people and other animals can be intimidating. Once you have a solid foundation, it's much easier

We've completed a tl;dr version for those of you who do not enjoy reading a gigundo amount of text!Character Creation, the TL,DR Version!4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Just like with the official CC journal, this one is still optional to read, we're just making it a little easier on folks that aren't used to reading text walls. Don't worry, we got your back!
Remember, this is just a guide. Take it all with a grain of salt. You do not have to follow this by any means, we all have our own way for creating characters, this is primarily meant to help out those that are struggling with helpful hints!
Are you driven to get the story started and finished?
Look deep into the recesses of your mind and ask yourself this. Before you can start a character for a group like this, ask yourself if you're driven to complete the story from cover to cover.

Screen Recording Program? Update: Help found!Screen Recording Program?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Thank you everyone for your help. I really appreciate it!
I found a super great help from M4dArtist, who gave me a super detailed instruction that answered all of my possible questions. Couldn't dream for more hahah.
I will go ahead trying out what she gave me there. Hopefully I'll have some vids to show you guys soon!
As many people have shown interest in seeing speedpainting/timelapse videos from me, I think I will try it out.
However I am not so sure which screen recording program I should use.
I want something that's easy to use, but on the other hand also have editing options, have no watermark and such.
I downloaded CamStudio installer, but it asked me to install many extra things that I obviously don't want to install. I just want to install the damn program. orz
So if you can give me a source to download safe installers, I'd highly ap

Step by Step : My Pixel BasicsStep by Step : My Pixel Basics3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I've had people from time to time ask me how I pixel, and I've never really been sure how to explain. It hasn't been until the past few years that i've really thought too much about what I was doing beyond experimenting and learning new things. I think I've rounded out some basic guidelines I usually follow and a friend wanted some advice so I decided to attempt some sort of explanation
Below are some step by step images and commentary. Please note that there is no one right way to create a piece of art. This Step by Step is meant only to impart some understanding of how I do things . In Pixel art alone there are many many 'styles'. I encourage anyone reading to look up more than one tutorial and seek critique if trying to learn their own pixel style.
Please excuse any spelling mistakes, and take note that I use Photoshop 7.0, but the same principals sh
