Sasori's Past episode#319. SO CONFUSED!+REFERENCES Amazing episode IN SOME MANY WAYS!!!! I don't understand why but personally, I haven't found it a filler episode at all! They are talking about an akatsuki member's past. I wish we could see someday another episode about WHY he turned into a human puppet and killed 3rd kazekage!Sasori's Past episode#319. SO CONFUSED!+REFERENCES1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I'm SO glad that Sasori flash back has been drawn and colored SO GOOD (the characters looked so good and some background scenes looked like a true masterpiece) if we compare it with the non-flash back scenes in the same episode about Chiyo vs. Kankuro fight. I loved Sasori's workshop btw (although it looks so different from the one of the old shippuden episodes)
Ok, I have seen the episode subbed in 2 languages: in english and my native language. Both versions said just the opposite and the subs translations from the japanese audio looked so confusing and lame to me, so please I hope you understand why I'm still confused:
Clothing Reference SitesHey there,Clothing Reference Sites3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Are there any good sites out there that feature traditional and casual fashion of all sorts? I've been looking for some clothing reference.
For the longest time I've just been picking on Google Images and such for some samples, but I don't usually luck out or find what I want when it comes to it.
I'm just trying to find good sites that reference clothing for women and men, sporty, club, goth, school etc. anything and everything. Are there sites out there that specialize in this kind of stuff?
Most of the time I've had to mix and match myself, and I guess I have some pretty bad fashion sense or it gets too... well.. plain or average.
I have some clothing books I bought from Japan, but they're not really about fashion, just particular articles of clothing, again, another mix and match getup that I'm usually terrible at.
If anyone has found anything that features what I'm looking for, please share.

Do you know how to sketch human figures but do you want to refine your anatomy skills? Or do you not know anatomy at all and you are tired to trust your imagination? Did you notice you create disproportions in your drawings?
If you are aspiring artists and you already have your own style, you might as well believe you have no need of a guide, but you are wrong. Before exaggerating human proportions and begin to have your own style, you first have to know the basics.
This little guide is the result of an accurate research and 5 years of high school of art, and it's created for all those who want to learn something new or just make a useful review.
For those who have already studied art, my suggestion is to go to step 6 or trying to repeat all steps in Digital format.
First of all, if you want to learn faster you should draw using traditi
PE: Importance of AnatomyThe importance of anatomy.PE: Importance of Anatomy2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Understanding anatomy is crucial to many aspects of your art.
You'll notice that anatomy is essential for drawing. It becomes difficult to accurately draw a complex pose, or even a simple one, if you don't understand what's under all that skin or fur, or even bark. Knowing how everything fits together is important.
Once you notice where that certain muscle is, shading and form become much more accurate and more natural. Knowing why the nose and eyes fall where they do make it much easier to draw from memory, and nail that natural look you were going for.
Learning the anatomy of the subject you're going to draw is quite important, and will definitely help you on several levels.
It's also easier to drawing sequences of movement. One will know what connects to what, and how they move. What is possible, and what isn't. (Range of motion)
Drawing people and other animals can be intimidating. Once you have a solid foundation, it's much easier

Animution TipsI feel like making an animution tutorial, so everyone can animute!Animution Tips3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But I'm lazy. So you can have some small tips in journal form instead.
Tip One: Frames
'amg ur animution is so smoof wai can't i animute lyk u??'
Which animation looks better? 1 or 2?
Well why don't people animate like 1 then?
Frames! Add as many frames as damned well possible! Surely it's obvious what the difference is?
Don't make a cycle with 8 frames
Make a cycle with 16!
Does a bit of your animation look choppy? Add some inbetween frames!
Onionskinning, I do it all the time. (What's onionskinning? This!)
The reason one animation looks smoother than another is always down to the number of frames.
The framerate I like to use is 0.07 seconds.
That's 12.5 in Flash, 70ms in GIMP and 7 in Fireworks.
You should always stick to one framerate throughout your whole animation.
Nothing going on in your animatio

Quick bit of help here, because I'm not sure if everyone knows the best way to handle this if you want to record your progress while drawing in Photoshop, Manga Studio, Painter, whatever.
IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWSYou may have tried some of the screen recorders out there like CamStudio, FRAPS, or some free ones out there. You may have noticed, or had become frustrated with, the fact that many of these programs cause a significantly huge hit on your system's performance. When you try drawing in Photoshop, your tablet response comes to a screeching halt. Then you find a program that records without impacting your drawing performance -- only to find that the resulting video recorded at about 1 frame every 3 seconds. Then you tried FRAPS, then found out that 4 minutes of video resulted in a 3.2GB file. All of these are less than ideal.
A while back, I searched all over the net for a program that encoded video from my screen

It is now added to my 'Making Comics' section which I hope will provide useful tips and suggestions to comic artists who want to improve on their craft!

10 Tips to Improve your Digital ArtA while ago I posted some tips on how to improve your art. While that article was rather general, this one is an addition to it, focusing on digital drawing and painting – so make sure to read both.10 Tips to Improve your Digital Art1 month ago in Art Features More Like This
It's made for beginners, so it's just really basic stuff. I hope it's helpful!
1. Get a tablet
Of course there are artists who create beautiful pictures with a mouse, but trust me, drawing with a graphics tablet is more natural and a lot easier once you're used to it.
Tablets have one big advantage over mouses: Pen pressure. Depending on how hard you press the line gets thicker and darker or thinner and lighter, similar to a real pen on real paper. I'd recommend getting a small, cheap Wacom tablet to start out.
Also make sure your tablet always has the newest drivers installed! You can download them on the Wacom website.

Over the years I have produced a range of tutorials on artistic use of the computer. Most of them concerns rather general concepts and can hopefully give something regardless of which program you are using or even be of some interest for traditional, non-digital artists. Some examples of my art can be found in the gallery.
That said, to get the most out of these you should know that I mainly use the open-source image manipulation program GIMP. I also work a lot with the painter program MyPaint. These are both very powerful programs capable of great artistic expression. Being open-source programs, they are both legally free to download and use without any cost. They exist for many platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows, so they are worth trying out if you haven't already.
The tutorials listed below tend are (ver

Oh no! You did these big, sparkly eyes... vibrant colors, blushing, sparkles... yet for some reason it's nowhere as cute as the "kawaii art" you see, and you can't pinpoint the reason why...?
Well, considering I have this problem, here's the way to counter against it (I guess.)
Believe it or not, the eyes might not need 100+ sparkles in them for a decent cute look~
Also, try to put some rather symmetric shapes in the exact right spots of the eye.
Also, eyes do not always have to be "bigger is cuter", and not longer than wider.
Try making eyes that are a bit wider than they are long, or just perfectly round.
Also, look at the face of maybe, a human baby, and try to exaggerate the right features to give it the "pure, almost-real-but-not-quite" anime face.

"You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
What mood is that?
You are well-aware of the importance of this project, in fact you can't wait to get to it! Too bad you promised your friends to go for a drink, and then there's that movie. Also, your productivity is at its strongest at Midnight, first Tuesday after the Full Moon, starting earlier would be a waste of time. Make sure you are well-rested! After all, is there a better way to prepare yourself for a productive tomorrow than an enjoyable today?
Your diagnosis: Procrastination positive.

Character Design: An introductionCharacter Design: An introduction2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Arvalis-2012 by arvalis
What does 'Character Design' mean?
The character design is the process which comes after the characterisation and consists in defining the character through his/her physical appearance.
We need to consider a character as a little fictional creature, human or not, that aims to please its creator and the public as well.
While the basic characterization of this fictional creature (his tastes, his fears, his behaviors) may take a little mental effort, as it is a sort of list of emotions, facts and feelings that come and go in the life of a character, the process of visual realization of this creature may not be as simple. That's why many writers and characters creators prefer to rely on experienced hands.
Also many of the mental aspects of the character are not possible to gain by using 'static' visual medium. For 'static' I mean all the illustrations and drawings unable to tell a

If you have additional tips or if you find mistakes in this guide please let me know, thank you.
(please excuse my bad english.)
1. Drawing and Filming:
Drawing and Lightsource:
Set up the place where you draw comfortable, the light should come from top(preferred) or left side of the drawing if you are right-handed. That way the area you are drawing on is not covered by the shadow of your hand. The arm of the drawing hand should show in the direction of the lightsource to make a shadow only under your arm. Shadows can cause huge brightness flickering in the time lapse.
I fix the single sheet of paper or canvas of my drawing on the table or easel or wherever to prevent the drawing from jumping around in the time lapse video. Try to make the video smooth.
Daylight as the only lightsource can cause flickering in the timelapse video.
PE: The Impact of Color1. - WHAT IS COLOR?PE: The Impact of Color2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Color is the aspect of things that is caused by differing qualities of light being reflected or emitted by them, as received by the human eye and processed by the human brain. It is a function of light and biology, not an exact science, no two people can see it exactly the same.
The human eye and brain together translate light into color. Light receptors within the eye transmit messages to the brain, which produces the familiar sensations of color. Newton observed that color is not inherent in objects. Rather, the surface of an object reflects some colors and absorbs all the others. We perceive only the reflected colors. Thus, red is not "in" an apple. The surface of the apple is reflecting the wavelengths we see as red and absorbing all the rest. An object appears white when it reflects all wavelengths and black when it absorbs them all.
"Colors are the deeds of light, its deeds and sufferings."
(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
