The Steadfast Tin SoldierThe midnight hour struck, the old grandfather clock chiming 12 times melodically. Little Hans Andersen was upstairs sleeping after a long day of playing with friends and his beloved tin soldiers. No two were alike in the pack of 25 tin soldiers and his imagination soared to a real battlefield as he played
At each chime of the clock, all the toys in Hans' playroom came to life, the little dolls giggling and the toy cars rolling on the floor. One by one the little tin soldiers hopped out of their case in an orderly fashion, except for one tin soldier, who stumbled slightly
His name was Brian Haner, and he only had one leg. The old toymaker had run out of tin to mould his leg and left him like that. But he gave so much detail into Brian to make him as life-like as possible. He was painted with sun-kissed skin, a charming smile and soft chocolate-eyes that twinkled in the right light
The tin soldiers slowly hopped down the table and made their way down to the floor, Brian falling slightl

“Johnny?” I asked to the small bassist on the phone. “Where the fuck are you?”
“We’re coming Zack. We got stuck in the traffic but we’re almost there. Give us 5 minutes okay?” Johnny told me.
“Traffic?” I asked. “Are you fucking kidding me? You live like three streets away and I didn’t saw any traffic while coming here.”
Silence fell on the other end and I just waited for Johnny to say something but when I heard Lacey’s voice, everything took its place in my head.
“Oh my God!” I said. I couldn’t believe it. “You two are late ‘cause you were having sex again!”
Johnny only sighed and I started laughing hysterically.
“Are you fucking kidding me? Really?” I said still laughing.
“You’ll understand when we come here.” He said sighing. “We just turned in Matt’s street so we’re almo
This Night's Almost Over -synacky-Brian Haner-Sanders couldn’t keep the growing smirk off his face as he saw Jimmy Sullivan getting flustered as he spoke to Johnny’s parents, the tall music teacher’s face blushing a bright red as he complimented Johnny’s overall performance over the year. Jimmy and Johnny had been sleeping together for a year and a bit, and it was painfully obvious how awkward Jimmy was about meeting his boyfriend’s mother and father at a parents evening, seeing as what he was doing with their son was just a little bit illegal. Brian, however, was having the time of his life, seeing as only about 5 of his overall 100 students in the grade were actually going to show up and talk to him, thanks to their parents deciding drama wasn’t a good enough subject to talk about. Brian stopped caring about a second after he was told. He just wanted to watch Jimmy flail. This Night's Almost Over -synacky-3 years ago in General Fiction More Like This

Brian sighs, opening up another beer, reaching for the television remote, flicking through the channels. He stops momentarily on the 'late night' channels, before deciding he's not in the mood, and keeps flicking. He almost chokes on his beer when 'BREAKING NEWS' flashes up onto his screen. A white haired reporter is sat in the corner of the screen, the image of the local zoo showing next to him, quickly flicking to video footage of a panther, prowling around the grounds, green eyes glinting.

Even though it hurts like hell, I know Jimmy will treat you right. I won't stand in your way and wish you both nothing but happiness. The happiness I know that I could never give you.
Zacky Baker awoke in tears, yet again. It had been a terrible, exhausting weekend for him. He'd tried numerous times to talk to his boyfriend, Brian Haner, Jr., leaving too many tearful messages to count. Biting his lip, he grabbed his cell phone from his nightstand, hoping that there'd be some kind of a message from Brian, but his hopes were immediately dashed when the text message he had waiting wasn't from Brian, but from Jimmy Sullivan, the cause of all of his problems.
Zacky hadn't spoken to Jimmy since Friday when he'd lashed out at him, but that was just fine with him. He blamed Jimmy for Brian leaving him, but he also blamed himself for pushing the person he loved the most in the world into a situati

Brian launched himself at the teen, nearly knocking him off of his feet as he wrapped his arms around his shoulders. Suddenly, Brian didn't really mind surprises. In fact he loved surprises, so long as they were Zacky. He hugged Zacky, and Zacky hugged him back so tightly he thought his ribs were going to crack, but he didn't even mind; it had been two months and eleven days since they'd seen each other, and it had been far too long.
Brian nuzzled his face into Zacky's neck, breathing in his scent, and then he suddenly realised that he hadn't known a thing about this house; he'd been working to try and get some crappy little apartment, and Zacky had bought h

Zacky Baker stared at his reflection in disgust. He couldn't understand why someone as gorgeous and smart as Brian Haner would be with him
Zacky and Brian had met through Jimmy, setting them up on a blind date on a lonely Friday night and things instantly clicked. As soon as the tall man knew the spark happened he started dancing slightly while watching the pair from a tree with binoculars dangling from his neck
Zacky sighed as he stared at the mirror, his fingers drumming the porcelain sink quietly. Four years after the start of their relationship and the old bird of self-consciousness is back chirping nastily in his ear. He always thought how repulsive he was compared to everyone else, his ex drilling the hateful words inside his mind and always making Zacky doubt himself

12 long years had past. 12 years of laughter, tears, fights, make ups, school, dating random's, homework and just plain fun but still Brian and Zacky were joined at the hip. They had never left each other's side ever. Even when they fought one or the other would end up at one house at their window, normally at one in the morning before they were let into the house. Then they would hug it out and maybe order pizza if it were a weekend of just chill in the bedroom until both ended up asleep curled up together to keep warm. But all of this had only made the boys grow closer together and they were inseparable. They ended up at each other's houses after school and ended up sleeping at each other's houses more often then they went to school it seemed.
It was now their last year at high school. Both boys had no plans on really trying however, music their one main passion over anything else which saw the grades they had at school slipping. Their parents complained, tried to keep them apart but

It was his boyfriend of three years’ thirty-first birthday. For days upon weeks, Zacky had whined about his age; the wrinkles around his mouth that only he could see, the crow’s feet that bunched adorably around his eyes each time he laughed.
“You’re stunning for an old man,” Brian said simply.
Zacky giggled, all sprawled across his boyfriend’s lap in their living room.
“So what’s my surprise, Prince Charming?” he asked.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you, darling.”
“Nope!” He patted Zacky’s head.
Zacky sighed and fell onto Brian’s side with a mutter of “bloop.” As he buried his face in Brian’s warm neck, he sensed the elder’s gaze flick down to his butt as it always did.
“Whore,” he laughed.

"Two," he continues his countdown, green eyes fixed to his watch, which adorns his pale right wrist.

Tanned arms wrap around his waist, making him jump slightly, before he realises who it is and settles into the embrace.

Zacky smiles, gaze never leaving the hill as the soft glow gets brighter.
Brian follows Zacky's never wavering gaze to the thousands of lit up, shabby boxes on the hillside about a mile away. Brian gasps.

A couple months later...
It was Valentine's Day and Brian wanted to throw himself out in front of a fast-moving freight train. It had been two months since he'd seen or spoken to Zacky. He'd read the texts that his ex-boyfriend still occasionally sent him, but he never responded. It hurt too badly to. Zacky had been the boy he'd had all of his firsts with - first crush, first date, first dance, first kiss, first sexual experience, both top and bottom, and first heartbreak. Brian had made it a point to just move on with his life and leave everything in Huntington Beach behind him. Sure, he missed his hometown, but the beaches of Florida weren't too bad of a substitute. Truth be told, things seemed to be much harder for his little sister to deal with. He really couldn't blame her, she and Matt had been together pretty much since the 4th grade.

"Chairs in please everyone" droned on the substitute teacher that the first grade boys and girls had that morning. The bell for lunch had just rung, its electronic sound shaking the walls of the old primary school. All the kids ran out with their lunches and hats, a compulsory thing to have on their heads during the summer months or else they had to sit in the shade. This was a rule their principal and put in place and had been re-enforced by the teachers and they were very serious about it.
All the kids were making their way to their usual spots, the older kids taking over the things that the little kids should be playing with and the little kids finding other things to do with their vast imaginations. They ran straight up to the big tree near the playground, sadly for the first graders it was the only safe thing for them to do without looking like the preps, who generally played in the sandbox or ran around in circles pretending to be airplanes.
One of the first graders, Zacky baker,
