TURN AWAY IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT.
I MEAN IT.
OKAY, FINE, DON'T BLAME ME IF SOMETHING IS SPOILED.
To those of you who chose to interpret the ending differently or saw it as ambiguous, the Word of God(s) has come to say "This is what it was, is, and forever shall be."
But I think the majority of us were on the same page with what that final scene meant and how wonderful (and validating to many people's lives) it was. And for us I say: THREE CHEERS!
Because of a couple comments I've seen around (the web, my comics, this journal) that seem to take some issue with the ending, saying they either just didn't like the politica
Need help for the background?many people have asked for help with the backgrounds.Need help for the background?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
as a request is a bit vague! it's not like the human body or an animal..
the background is .. is .. the fucking universe!
cities, mountains, seas, forests, are a combination
of elements ALWAYS different :iconexploding-headplz:
I have not received help for these things..
I learned watching pictures and drawings in the last 2 years!
you have to watch thoooousands of landscapes and store them in your
"mental-database" to be able to invent new personal backgrounds.
it works with the perspective and the composition too!
observe and learn from the experience of others.
a sort of osmosis.
if you need pictures or inspiration I recommend this site
I love it..it's absurd.. sometimes I become depressed because
is too epic.. :iconrazycryplz:
but then I react and I try to improve!:iconlazymacho2plz:
then..if you need more specific help I can try to do
some reference sheet :icony
Square Enix - I applied a couple of years ago. Here's a little personal story for my art friends.Square Enix - I applied a couple of years ago.3 months ago in Personal More Like This
About 3 years ago now I applied on a whim for a position to join the Square Enix Visual Works team in Japan. I expected not to hear anything back. I applied with a nice letter, a link to my folio and a 'top secret' link to copious amounts of NDA work.
I was blown away to get a personal response about 2 or 3 days later from one of the Art Directors on the team.
It was very blunt and very straight forward. He told me that I had a very unique style and that my artwork was great, He loved the heavy, solid feel and saturated colors but he had reservations about how far I could push it towards realtime cinematic work. The exact words he used to describe it was " Imagine an offline rendered character that we see today, we need to see that, modelled and textured in a stylised, fantastical final fantasy way but for use in realtime applications." He went further on to say "The stylisation is in design choices, not materials, which are to be very
Contest! - Now Closed / WINNERSHi Guys, it's Contest Time!Contest! - Now Closed / WINNERS1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You may have noticed with the jewellery I have made over the past year or so that I add little stories and things to them, in this contest I'd love these stories to inspire you to draw, write or create anything based on these stories that I have come up with!
You're free to elaborate on these stories, add to them and draw inspiration from them, you're totally free here but you have a better chance of winning by sticking as close to your chosen story as possible c:
For example, if you like the sound of a character, you can draw that person or if you like a certain story and want to write more about it then that would be perfect!

No Death Star for you.I didn't know this until now, but the White House is obliged to respond to to a petition with over 25,000 signatures. This meant they HAD to dignify the request of 30,000+ US citizens that the US construct a full sized, functional Death Star with an answer. No Death Star for you.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm not quite sure what percentage of those 30,000+ citizens realise that using a planet-destroying laser to take out people on the planet on which you live is an ever-so-slightly flawed agenda.....

Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 62 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu

Artist Alley, more business than pleasure? Before I get into this I want to apologize for sounding preachy, but a growing pet peeve of mine over the years as I converse with peers at Artist Alleys is an increase of fanart that's not actually by fans.Artist Alley, more business than pleasure?1 month ago in Personal More Like This
What I mean are all these illustrators flocking to the scene that for the most part, just spit out work of popular subject matter for the sake of sales.
Now I'm not naive, many artists sign up at Artist Alley are clearly there for the income and that's totally cool but come on guys. At their core, comic/anime conventions should be about gathering with others to celebrate geeky shit you're passionate about. It's about sharing your fandoms with others, right? Ideally.
So when I see a booth that is mostly composed of say... League of Legends lady pinups I'd be like "Oh cool, this person plays League too! I should totally geek out with them" but after a quick exchange of words it turns out they don't actually play. Or they did, like once but don't really like it. They're in it f
Experiment Part 1: Training Your EyeSo my buddy karuvan is trying to learn how to draw properly. He's been on a roll as far as progressing. But he's stuck at a standstill. This is an experiment that I've done with him and that he's working on in order to train his eye. I decided to share the conversation and experiment with you guys for you all to apply to your study habits and advancement in drawing and art.Experiment Part 1: Training Your Eye2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Karuvan: I randomly drew over my old pic. Ain't gonna do it over, was just curious on how much I could have done better.
Robaato: Quick question... like... who's work at this point do you really want yours to be close to? I'm tryna gauge what level you're trying to achieve.
K: lol... Joel is becoming a huge influence.
R: Ok. I have a test for you.
R: I want you to replicate this picture exactly as it is to the best of your ability:

Here's the message I left him, he didn't retwitt it:
Legal lessonsRecently one of my rash public call-outs have been found by the wrong person and I have been accused for libel, trademark violation, and additional accusations that I am not allowed to disclose.Legal lessons8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Do not worry though. While I backed down a bit, I carefully looked carefully at the supposed breached contract in question (which I thankfully have kept a copy for over a year) I believe things are in my favor and defended myself. However, I will have to give some credit - they pulled a very good scare tactic as I was in no financial position to afford to get into any kind of trouble.
Could I have avoided the situation I just got into? I probably could. I'm only so old with so much life experience.
In the future, after the legal issues I've seen my other artist peers get into...
When doing professional work, always watch out for what your rights to the art made for a given project is, and especially be careful about any terms for payment. IF a contract is vague and says something about 'payment
Reasons why the new DA logo is not plagiarizedLately, I've been seeing claims pop up everywhere about how the new DeviantArt logo is simply a ripoff of an existing logo for another company. So I'm posting a short opinion journal on why it is not based off of some of my personal experience.Reasons why the new DA logo is not plagiarized3 weeks ago in Deviant Events More Like This
To be perfectly honest, this is, to me a culturally ignorant suggestion given the obvious origins of the http://platzkart.ru/ logo. I have a feeling I may catch some flak for saying this, but would everybody stop looking for reasons to object to new changes? Please understand that the platzkart logo is its own creation.
I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood, and a huge portion of my friends have a cultural background from Eurasia. I spent a lot of time becoming familiar with other languages because of this. The first noticeable thing you can see is that platzkart.ru is not platzkart.com or platzkart.co.uk. It's the top level domain for Russia, a country that uses a different alphabetic system than most western countries: Cyrillic. Cyrilli
US Government denies existance of Mermaids>>>>http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-18692830US Government denies existance of Mermaids2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Really? I mean; really?
The US National Ocean Service had to make a statement that Mermaids do not in fact exist, after they were bombarded by enquiries regarding them in the wake of a programme aired by the Discovery Channel.
"Mermaids: The Body Found" was a work of fiction but was mistaken by a number of people to be a documentary.
I'm guessing they're the same people for whom warnings are printed on Harry Potter broomsticks, reading "Caution: Does not actually fly".......

If you're an artist looking for commissions...A couple of friends were talking about these two places. They were generally skeptical, and I was skeptical of these places too, though for different reasons. Give this tumblr a shot and see what kind of art people need: http://theartistsmarketplace.tumblr.com/tagged/commission
And a similar but unaffiliated forum if you prefer forums over blogs: http://artistsmarket.boardhost.com/index.php
There may be other sites geared for work suited to people who mostly do art for fun, but hey... give these sites a shot and see what happens.
I know one post on the tumblr blog got ~seven artists contacting them. Prepare for competition!

If you have a moment, have a look! I've shared one about the myth of concept art on my art blog, but i didn't want to leave out the rest of it. Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc (1412—1431) is the ultimate iconic rebellious teenager. In nineteen years she lived a fuller and more exciting life, effecting the future histories of the two most powerful nations on Earth, than most can even dream of, and then died a martyr’s death for her cause and beliefs, for which she was declared a saint 500 years later. Her story has been told in many novels, movies and comic books. She was the girl who God gave a mission to drive the occupying English out of northern France. So fervid was her demand for action that she was made an advisor to the French high command and led them to victory after victory in the cause of F

I have an idea and I need ARTISTSSo... last night I got an idea. (while showering because showers are where I get my inspiration.)I have an idea and I need ARTISTS2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was thinking of having an art class! Wait~ Before you stop me, it wont be me teaching -obviously because I am not good enough to be a teacher- it'll be artists who decide to help me out.
What I was thinking wass..... like... gosh.. this is hard to explain but it's a good idea.
What I was thinking was that I have a few friends, or just, deviants that are willing to help do something like... a Join.Me. or a livestream, but they're teaching you -the audience- how to draw.
The only thing is I want the teachers to be able to talk, (and you-the audience-to hear them) and with Join.me. you can't hear the persons voice.
And I would like it to be like this~
Start out with me and I say "Hello, fellow Deviants this is art class 1 and today our teacher will be *Gives username* Enjoy" then it switches out to whatever deviant is teaching gives a short introduction. (They don't have to show their f
