WIP vol.2 (Chest plate)Yo!WIP vol.2 (Chest plate)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I made a chest plate body and some shoes today.
Because this is going to be a quite long WIP, I'm only going to post chest plate WIP tonight.
Shoes are coming up tomorrow.
Oh lol, this chest plate almost drove me nuts.
First time making this kind of stuff.
And second time making a cosplay out of wonderflex!
Oh well, I bet you all gonna laugh.
But wanna know how I made it?
I taped myself with wonderflex, heated myself in front of a mirror with a hot air blower and ran in a bathtub full of cold water
I think it took me about 10 hours to cut, shape and paint it.
Here ya go, a bunch of WIP photos for everyone. I hope you can get some tips!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me
Oh some lovely patterns are the first thing to do.
Warm it up and shape it a bit.
More shaping and taping.
Best weight in the world, a bottle of beer.
Oh trying out some ornaments and stuff. Also made some collar testing.
Lock system. A total of 8 locks in the chest plate armor

Oerba Yun Fang Progress!Hey, Tranquility here! I promised to post progress, so here it is. Sorry that it doesn't look like much yet, I still have a lot to do! Adding to this journal will help keep me motivated.Oerba Yun Fang Progress!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
My fabric! It needs to be ironed, haha. The blue is silk dupioni that I was lucky to find pretty cheap and the white is a shinier poly shantung from JoAnns. I liked them because I wanted some texture. I got this fabric a long time ago, but I've been procrastinating on the sari because making the trim is kinda a pain. Must work!
Unfinished necklace and bangles, my completed armband, and the buckles for my belt and boot covers.
Sunday Special ;D WIG HEAD TUTORIAL!Yo!Sunday Special ;D WIG HEAD TUTORIAL!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Okay. It's Sunday. But I've promised to provide you with some new tutorial today also! *grin*
SO! HOW 'BOUT A WIG HEAD TUTORIAL ;D ESPECIALLY FOR YOU MY BIG HEADED FRIENDS!
Actually... I just hate all the wig heads for sale. My head size is 62cm. So you can believe how well those 55cm wig heads fit me.
I even have some problems with all the wigs! I always have to cut off all the adjustable size wraps! ;__; And even then they are too small for me!
Well, my solution for the problem is this!
With only 10 euros! Yeah, around 15 dollars you can make your OWN wig head.
Which is exactly the same shape as your own head.
So you can actually style your wig only with this! No need to put it on and cut trough a mirror anymore! ^^
We all have a different face. Eyes, nose, lips. They are all in different places!
That's why I really recommend to make your own wig head. To get the best results in wig styling!~
Here ya go!
First! You need a packet of straws, a packet of cling film and one who
A Word on WeatheringA lot of people have been asking me how I did the weathering on my armor. The weathering was done using the sponge/rag technique. First, I would take black acrylic and dab it with a sponge and rub it all over the armor, section by section, covering every square inch. Then, after letting it sit for a moment, I would rub it off with a rag. If I wanted to remove more, I would wet the rag. Then I would repeat the process with brown acrylic. Then, after all said and done, the streaks and edges were done with a silver leafing pen.A Word on Weathering9 months ago in Personal More Like This
A word on getting "that look". The point of weathering is that the armor does not look brand spanking new. You shouldn't weather your armor with a specific pattern in mind (unless you are airbrushing and are very skilled). The point of dirt and wear and tear is that it is supposed to be random, so don't fret if the weathering deviates from what you envisioned. But, you should take into account of things like gravity, where the bottom might be more dirtier than the t

Sword and dagger of Rai - Lamento TutorialSwiish!Sword and dagger of Rai - Lamento Tutorial2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Tonight I'm going to continue my daily prop tutorials with some basic sword and dagger making.
What do we need:
-Cardboard (thick one, around 3mm-4mm)
-Black fake leather (half meter)
-Some paper balls which you get from a crafts store
-Normal paper glue and hot glue
-One wooden stick (1cmx1cmx1m)
-Dremel or similar machine
-Cotton wool fabric
-Citadel paints, black, golden and silver.
And a few hours of free time!
Our mission is to make these two props, a sword and a dagger!
(right on the photo) Google Lamento - Rai if you wanna know more about the original.
We will start with drawing the patterns on a paper or straight on the cardboard sheet:
Then we can continue with cutting 'em out:

Disclaimer: A lot of you know me in the cosplay community, and some of you might think that my words may represent the community or organization im involved in. These thoughts are my own based from my own observation. Blame anyone else and ill just laugh at your expense. Thanks.</i>
Bear with me for adding another thought regarding the cosplay scene, i cant help it if certain issues or stories end up quite thought provoking.
Stories of cosplayers being harassed by some spectators are the common buzz in the community recently, and it had me thinking, what provoked these people to commit such actions that are considered unappropriate by the cosplayers themselves?
There are already tips and suggestions focused towards the audience on how to treat cosplayers. Now in this blog, id like

Hizaki Dress: How was made.I bet a lot of people want to know how I made my Hizaki cosplay, so here's some progress photosHizaki Dress: How was made.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I started off with the bodice. My fabric of choice for this: italian velvet (it's a upholstery fabric).
Here's the front.
And the back.
Before make and attach the sleeves, I started to make the skirt. My fabric of choice: shantung jacquard.
For the frills I used the same italian velvet.
Make some straps first.
Make the frills by hand
Testing the fit between the frills to attach them later.
Such a heavy skirt needs a crinoline to support all that weight, so I made one.
Oh my! It can stand on its own!
Time to make and attach the sleeves.
If you want to work with heavy fabrics as the velvet I used, you'll need strong and sharp scissors x_x
Details of the fabric for the sub-sleeves(?)
Painting roses, because I couldn't find the color I wanted. This reminds me "Alice in Wonderland" by Disney, when the cards are painting red the white roses xD

Just be excellent to each other, ok? I'm going to have a rant now, because I feel the need to say something and get it off my chest.Just be excellent to each other, ok?2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Right. Here's the thing. On Facebook I follow Bryan Stars' page, and I've noticed that there seems to be a lot of… back-stabbing going on in the comments. What I mean by that is that on many posts, people go and write that they don't like that picture (or whatever else it is) because they deem it as being too scene/emo/goth or any other of the various off-shoots of alternative subculture. What then tends to happen is a massive slagging off match between people who class themselves in certain categories, either aimed at other commenters they want to argue with, or at Bryan himself, saying things like "you're not ………. (fill in with appropriate subculture)………., so you shouldn't be posting this".
And this is what has been getting to me. I wouldn't really know what to class myself as being, because I'm quite a mix. Some days I'll be dressed more "emo" and others more c
Reguarding The New DmC: We'll be okay.So... I've been downloading Devil May Cry OSTs And while listening to "I'll be your home" I realized something- About my Rants and Raves towards the new DmC:Reguarding The New DmC: We'll be okay.11 months ago in Personal More Like This
There's Nothing we can do. Nothing
But thats okay- Because they can't simply come in and take away the Dante, the emotions, the love, the hate, the frustration of being stuck on Vergils last battle and finally screaming "TAKE THAT YOU WHORE!!!!" at the screen at the end of the game!!!! No. They can't.. they can't take what they've already given us.
This new game is much like a cold: All we have to do is lay back, relax and it'll go away.
I can't wait for it to come out- perhaps if not many people enjoy it they may realize how many are outraged.
I complain not. Its a good thing I'm not a Devil...
Because I'm bawling. Crying. Sobbing. All and any derivitives for the tears inside me. To be a nerd and quote the song I'm sobbing to: "The tears inside me calm me down"
Thinking about that reminds me of DMC3's last few cutscenes...
Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your piecesThis tutorial is based on how to use Smooth-on's Oomoo- and Smooth-cast series materials for cosplay purposes. There is little special too about using fiberglass instead of smooth-cast. Hope you enjoy!Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your pieces9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Ok. Lets get started!
"I need five identically same looking parts like in that center of the picture for my cosplay but making them one by one would take LOTS of time. What to do?"
If you have the right materials then the answer is simple: "Make one sharp prototype of that piece then mold it and cast it."
Here are the materials you need:
- Modelling paste for making the prototype (or what ever material you like. It won't affect to the final product)
- Smooth-On's Oomoo 25 or 30 for making the mold (mold max 20-40 works too but it' need more skill to use. So i recommend Oomoo)
- Smooth-On's Smoothcast series for casting (i recommend smooth-cast 320 because it is easy to paint with spray paint)
(Smooth-On got lot of resellers in few countries. Here in Finland is Silcom.fi who sells their p

I lined the dress with the same rib knit fabric and I connected the hood to the dress. The hood is lined with Kona Cotton Peach fabric. The peach looking arrow detailing on the hood was ironed on with heat n' bond. I connected the peach bow on the middle of where the hood starts. Th

A silhouette is the image of a person, an object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single colour, usually black, its edges matching the outline of the subject.
"When an object's silhouette is difficult to make out, we have a tough time keeping track of what we're seeing. It's why so many comics and drawings use the visual shorthand out outlining figures and objects. The shades and values of an object are secondary to the basic shape when it comes to recognition. As such, effectively managing silhouettes is a vital tool for visual narratives." - Aaron Diaz

* Draw one piece of fanart every day. Can be as simple or as complicated as you like.
*Fanart can be of anything in books, movies, video games, manga, anime, television and comic books but each day has to be dedicated to something different, not the same book, movie, video game etc.

Miralce Of Sound - Sovngarde SongFrom the mists of the mountains a deafening callMiralce Of Sound - Sovngarde Song2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Bellows down over the plains
On a host of battle-worn ears it does fall
Pushing out through the thunder and rain
These men of the north they have suffered too long
The anger it swells in their veins
Of the spirited roars of lost warriors' songs
Distant echoes are all that remain
And my voice is my violence
Clear the sky's frozen tears
And no more we'll be silent
With this Sovngarde song in our ears
And we stand tall
Sons of the snow
We will not fall
Under these blows
For our hearts they are hardy
Our spirits are strong
And our voices are lifted into
This Sovngarde song
Conquer the anger and ravenous rage!
Make it a part of your power
Pummeling down let your bloodlust engage!
Under your force they will cower
Feeling the fury so pure and so bright
Breaking the bonds of surrender
Under the moon for our home we will fight
And we will die to defend her
And my voice is my violence
Clear the sky's frozen tears
And no more we'll be silent

I've apparently got to say 5 things about me and then move on to answer the questions. Okay then.
1. I'm a very heavy sleeper. My flatmates thought I was dead once (and then they woke me up and I shouted at them eh heh).
2. I love peppermint tea. I can't go a day without it. I tend to get through a box of 40 in a week. If I happen to run out then I will go and buy another pack immediately- even if it's pouring with rain (it usually is). Also, don't put salt in my tea. Your life is not worth it.
3. My friends say I have an accent like a cider farmer, so whenever I head to my parent's house (who live in the countryside) it's always that I'm off to help with the orchard. (The FiM cider episode was brilliant for this reason alone)
4. I tend to buy games on the day of release and then never play them (I'm looking at you Skyrim, ME3, Rage and Battlefield 3). I also hate myself for this because I certainly can't afford it
5. I've never lived awa
