A Collaboration between MARX77 & DeevElliott
What must any of us do before we can understand what we read in the Book of Life? When is one ready to write upon its pages his or her own contributions?
Life is no passive gathering of information. It is not a spectator sport. Only in participation is one truly alive. In order to express feelings or opinions about anything in life, one must have a personal experience of it. Only personal experience conveys the qualification and the right to speak, to write or to create art as explanation and explication of any topic of discussion and debate.

Of Angels and Demons Vol. 1
“Hush, my friends. Let me tell you of those gods whose lore has left our lands, of the long–dead songs of angels and demons; let your hearts brave the ill–luck of broken vows and breathe the influx of borrowed spells. Walk with me on the winds of a victory of kings, and tell me now: whose flock will be crushed under the blow of defeat? Will you bathe in the white solace of the banners of salvation, or burn in the fiery fire of the warriors of damnation?”

A Warning in Another’s Eyes
Stop and Stare
Staring is not the same as intently gazing into another person’s eyes as a manner of communication.
That can be a quite pleasurable experience. Staring into another’ eyes too often presages the delivery of a warning or very bad news. The fixed stare is the facial equivalent of a flashing amber light, indicating you should proceed but only with great caution. Keep that in mind as you peruse t

Something is in the Basement by david-sladek
It's October and the sacred 31 days of Halloween are upon us-time to get your gore on! The chill is in the air, the leaves are on the ground, and Halloween candy has been out since Labor Day. So while you’re waiting in the Starbucks line for an overpriced double pumpkin spice whatever, pass the time with this year’s scary movies reviews!
Insidious (Series 2010–2013)
Hmmm... (Little Edit).... what is it with all those tits- and lady-crotch-shots with those pseudo-intellectual titles like "A dream of your lost desire" or "Loneliness of your heart" that spam DA? Giving it those "artistic" names does not turn a cheap tits- or vagina-shot into an artwork automatically. I am so annoyed, not so much with seeing female parts again and again *yawn* but with the fact that so many people try to sell sex with the "arts" label.Hmmm... (Little Edit)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Looks like I should create a penis-cloesup with the title "Bringer of life" or "The mighty snake of forgiveness" or something like that. I wonder if it would be deleted?
EDIT May 27th:
Now look what I just got!
PE: Anthropomorphic Costumes and FursuitsFursuits & CostumesPE: Anthropomorphic Costumes and Fursuits2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
What are "fursuits" you ask? Fursuits are animal costumes made from various materials. They range from simple tails and ears to full costumes cooled by battery-powered fans. Fursuits can be worn for personal enjoyment, conventions, work or charity.
The standard fursuit is a full body costume that consists of a head, forepaws (hands), hindpaws (feet) and a body with an attached tail. In some cases, the tail is connected via a belt to the wearer and hangs out through a hole in the back of the body. Many suits include special padding or undersuits to give the character its desired shape (this is especially present in larger characters or those of a particular gender). Owners can spend less than one-hundred to many thousands of dollars on one fursuit, depending on complexity and materials used. More advanced fursuit features include jaws which move when the user speaks, and moving tails. Furry fans make their own using online tutorials o

7 TIPS FOR THE 21-YEAR-OLD ME by Bobby Chiu
When I was a student in college working on my skills as a character designer, I’d had periods where I would sit at my desk working as hard as I could but having little to show for my efforts at the end of the day. I remember sitting there surrounded by blank pieces of paper, trying to come up with an amazing style that nobody had ever seen before. I would do one drawing and not be satisfied, so I would lay a new piece of paper over it, re-draw it with slight changes to features here and there. This would still not be good enough so I would put another piece of paper over my revision, make more minor adjustments trying to perfect this new style I was searching for.
I did this for weeks on end, tweaking and polishing over and over, working hard every day. But in the end, did I come up with a brand new style, something amazing that

Dia de los Muertos
“Day of the Dead” is not the “Latin American Halloween.” On Dia de los Muertos, Mexican families visit the spirits of their dead in the cemeteries where they rest. They bring food and other gifts as part of a happy celebration of departed loved ones. Halloween originated with the fear of the sprits of the dead visiting the living so food was offered as bribery for the spirits to do no harm. It was a scary once–a–year intersection of the world of the living with the world of the dead. Day of the Dead continues to be a celebration as antidote to mourning the passing over of loved ones. It is about the ind

(yes, the lamest journal entry ever)
Anyway, I wish you all the best for 2013, my dear watchers and other deviants!
I wish you strong health and lot of love - family love, friend love... simply be in touch with those you love and who love you and stay healthy, because it is the most important thing.
I have to say I am devastated. I have troubles to finish my thesis (20 hours left), because we are now dealing with very serious issue in my family, which unfortunately touches both issues I mentioned above - health and family love. I am very sad and my nerves are ruined, I am trembling like an old junkie hard to concentrate, believe me...
Also, thank you very very very much for voting for my wolf photo in NAt GEO contest! I think I hit the TOP 20, but I am sure my photo will not win, because it is technicaly bad and boring. I think Allerlei and Amrodel will do better - but I am hap

Between Sci-Fi and Fantasy
Create a character or a scene featuring the concept of Sci-fi and/or Fantasy by using my Stock as a reference.
What is Fantasy?
It's an alternative world featuring magic or supernatural creatures/events. Vampires, werewolves, magicians, gargoyles, fairies, Slenderman and all those creatures are part of a fantasy genre. We often see fantasy in medieval times, but it still can happen in 2013. Examples of fantasy stories: Supernatural, Avatar, Narnia, Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft.

Long tweet from Gerard about the end of the bandGerard just posted a very long tweet: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rjdh4fLong tweet from Gerard about the end of the band2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The explanation is kind of of vague, but he makes two things clear: the band didn't end due to scandal or argument, and MCR is indeed done. So whether the fan theories about legal issues are true or not, the break-up is permanent, and it wasn't quite as abrupt as it seemed.
As incredibly disappointing as this is, I'm glad he said this early on so we can stop pondering over theories and start to move on with our lives. While I thought the theories were interesting, I worried that they brought false hope and dragged this on longer than necessary. Now we finally have to put MCR to rest.
But even though MCR is over, the guys' stories certainly aren't. I just hope they find happiness in whatever they do.

You know what makes me sick and tired?
Why is it ok to depict nude women, sometimes quite blatantly (those make it on the front page…), but if you show MALE nudity… some people get their panties in a twist.
I get a lot of positive feedback, don't get me wrong. My watchers are cool and overall very nice and they watch me for a reason... I mean, look at my gallery... men, men and even more men, dressed and (half) naked men.
BUT then there is those people that have never even talked to me before... they send me notes, try to tell me how to do MY art, telling me I create porn and that naked men are ugly... I instantly delete shit like that, otherwise I would have a few quotes
Identity TheftA little announcement.Identity Theft1 day ago in Personal More Like This
Or WARNING, if you will.
I won't loose too many words and will just get straight to the point:
There exists a person on the Internet who does impersonate me; they are not only using an email address which is almost identical to mine (theirs is firstname.lastname@example.org but MINE is email@example.com), they are also using parts of my real name and scam people who are looking to buy the Skat Deck - and accidentally sent their inquiry/payment to the wrong mail address.
I found out about it through such a customer who contacted the wrong address.
Bad enough, one might think. But i think the moment i really began to feel nauseated was when the customer would show me screenshots of these mails that the impersonator would reply with: basically using a bunch of culpeorisms like i would always use them in private notes or mails (therefore, i have the notion that this person is someone who had contact with me or bought something from me before, hence their know

USE Color to Enhance Your ExpressionWith this online art community, we have a unique opportunity to connect with our kindred. We must avail ourselves of this experience, for, once it's gone, it may never come again.USE Color to Enhance Your Expression2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's important to USE color, not just apply it to your art. Sometimes we overlook the role color plays in our illustration, particularly when it comes to sequential art. Comic books. Storytelling. It's not just for making the picture pretty. Over on Facebook earlier today, this topic came up in conversation with a good friend. I thought I might share an excerpt with you here on DA, inviting, as always, your comments as well.
2011 BMFAC News UpdateBMFAC winners published in print magazine!2011 BMFAC News Update3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The 25 winners of the Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest were contacted in mid February to supply large format files of their winning images and also a short bio explaining their interest in fractal art, software used and general information about their work if they chose to do so. We were also informed that the first exhibit would be held in Logroño, in Northern Spain. Javier Barrallo, a Professor of Mathematics at The University of the Basque Country, Spain and also one of the panelists for the BMFAC was our contact for this. The current exhibit will be in the Casa de la Ciencia (House of Science), in Logroño, the Capital city of RIOJA until June 10th. I'll post a few pictures Javier sent further down. Javier also says he will send more pictures soon.
Also when I was contacted in February, Javier informed me that he had written an article about the BMFAC for a Spanish scientific magazine with all the winning images i
CT WIPs - Here They Come Just In TimeA couple of things: GIMP lags on me now which makes it a pain on me and my laptop to record process videos. And since tumblr has a following size that's a third of my dA, a lot of people may be missing my WIP shots. So I hope it won't bother anyone that I make and update journals that show my process. I hope you'll find them interesting and inspiring. And also, I hope people will stop asking me what program I work in lol on top of the fact that it's listed in my interests under Tools of the Trade, I've also had a FAQ made so please check those before asking questions. Further info about my process will be located under each WIP shot!CT WIPs - Here They Come Just In Time1 year ago in Personal More Like This

EDIT: I ADDED NUMBER 3 IN CAUSE THAT WAS KIND OF AN IMPORTANT LESSON TOO. HAHA
Usually I am pretty quiet when it comes to the community and its dealings with drama . But I feel like I have to write my two cents about this topic.
A lot of people have been throwing around this post around about how art schools are terrible and are not worth it ya. I am sure you can find the article somewhere if you just google it . Though everyone is entitled to their own opinion I feel that I should talk about both sides of the coin when it comes to art school.
Now I have went to art school , and have done well for myself , I have worked internationally and worked for some big companies , and currently at the moment I actually teach at an art school as well.
SO THE ULTIMATE QUESTION: IS ART SCHOOL A WASTE OF TIME?
WELL THERE IS NO BLACK AND WHITE ANSWER
What I believe is that art school i
