So You Think You're a Photographer, Eh?[I should point out that this is in response to some GWC (Guy With Camera) spouting off about his 'services' available to any woman not wise enough to steer clear on Model Mayhem's Shout Board earlier this evening. It's probably also related to the recent influx of bathroom shots that end up on the dA front page.]So You Think You're a Photographer, Eh?5 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm gonna keep this brief.
You convinced some dumb chick to get nekkid for you and your camera. Now you think you're a photographer and you're creating art. Or, and this is a scenario that just makes me sad, you're a moderately attractive young lady that gets nekkid and takes a picture of yourself with your phone, in the bathroom mirror. You've got a gazillion followers here on deviantArt or Model Mayhem and think you're an artist. Well, it's a little more complicated than that.
Simply because people fave you doesn't make you an artist any more than liking sugar makes you an ANT. Anyone can take pictures of a naked body. ANYONE. Simply having people look at those pictures doe

So you make cute crafts, and probably someone offered you money for them. Maybe you need the money, and if you're like me, you need it to buy more crafting supplies. Whatever the reason, starting your own crafty business is a decisions that you should take seriously... it's not as easy as opening an Etsy account and setting some random prices for your work. There is a lot of things to consider to keep the business going, your money safe, your name clean, and your costumers happy.
By no means this is an absolute guide, merely a few guidelines of things I've found important or questions I get asked often by people interested in opening their own business. Most of this tips are intended for online selling, but they should apply for other ways of selling too. I will probably do more detailed guides in the future, as I learn more myself.
To begin with, don't forget to research as much as you can! If you're rea
Tip for Today: When to give up?Never give up just because you don't think you're good enough. We've all had our doubts in life. Successful people do not give up easily. We must prepare and prepare again, try your very hardest and then about 50% more that you didn't know you had consistently, then keep going twice as long as you ever thought you would or could. INDIEGOGO ENDED!! Phase one is over!EDIT: 11/18/2014INDIEGOGO ENDED!! Phase one is over!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So, as I said of tumblr, I want to thank everyone for their support! We collected almost 10000 through Indiegogo donation! I know it's far from what the goal is but don't worry! We are planing phase two of the campaign! We will not stop just because we didn't reach our goal out of a first try! We will fight until we finally get there!
To everyone who donated and shared the campaign: Thank you! Your support is what helped us get even this far, we really couldn't have done without you! ;u; As I said above, we will continue to fight until our goal is reached so we aren't stopping just yet!
I will update everyone once phase two starts and I will most likely reopen Special Order (and add new ideas for it). If I still owe you those, don't worry! I quite busy with the School Festival (which was a total success! The
Government Is Your Family?Anyone who seriously believes that our public schools provide for an "educated population" clearly hasn't been to a public school, or they have been to one and were programmed like the good little children they are.Government Is Your Family?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's the only plausible explanation as to why so many Americans are oblivious to blatant propaganda such as this:Fourth-grade students in Illinois are learning that "government is like a nation's family" because it sets rules and takes care of needs such as health care and education.
So says a worksheet for social studies homework that was distributed to students at East Prairie School in Skokie, Ill, complete with a drawing of Uncle Same cradling a baby that represents the citizens.
Students are then prompted to answer 10 questions comparing government and families, including how their family provides for their health care needs and how the government doe
A Real Motivational MLK SpeechToday marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech. I'm not sure which is more depressing about this occasion: that race hustlers like Al Sharpton have hijacked his legacy to push their own political agenda, or that this anniversary falls around the same time our first black president is contemplating war (whereas MLK was vehemently anti-war).A Real Motivational MLK Speech2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Many have speculated what King would think if he were alive today. I think he would be deeply grieved by current events, especially within the African-American community, and he would scoldingly condemn them.
So on this special anniversary, rather than copy every othe

But you’ve met his children…
It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead owe their existence to Romero’s original vision.
In 1979, screenwriter Dan O’Bannon craft

Each year he makes his migration south from the Aleutian Islands to a breeding area in the Pacific Ocean parallel to Central California, looking for a mate. Unlike other blue and fin whales, his more than 6000 miles a year round-trip swim is a solitary one. He does not travel along with the blues or the fins, because he is neither. He is most probably either a hybrid blue
Common Misconceptions: Copyrights and YouHi peeps! In this “Common Misconceptions” blog we’ll be tackling more copyright issues as they pertain to us artists! This can be somewhat confusing territory, so getting the right information is key to knowing how to effectively protect your work and rights. *Please note that all of the information here applies to the laws in the United States Copyright Office. I have to register for a copyright to own the rights to my work
In the simplest terms, if you made it (and it’s 100% original work) you own the rights to the work. In fact, anything you make that you do not sell the rights to is copyrighted to you for a whopping 70 years after you kick the bucket. If you were commissioned to do a work and retain the rights, that work is copyrighted to you for 95 to 120 years after you

Change is not something that we take lightly, because it affects our collective identity. It was important for us to define who we are and what we’re made of at our core before we changed anything. We all have our own understanding of what that means, but the process of getting that core story down on paper took almost a year.
The result is “Bleed and Breed Art.” This is our center of gravity and our reason for getting out of bed i
In Memory of Satoru IwataToday it has came to my attention to inform you all that Satoru Iwata has sadly passed away a few nights ago from complications of a bile duct growth, his passing has affected many gamers emotionally, even if they previously haven't really supported his viewpoints w/ Nintendo, but bare in mind he helped forward Nintendo into the 21st century and has helped them strive on throughout the years he was president up until his untimely death. He was a humble and gentle spirit who had a steady mind to help keep the company alive with perseverance and helped bring Nintendo fans and gamers alike together, but now since his passing we've felt a big part in our gaming community just fall apart, but we must remember and reflect on how he helped reconfigure Nintendo from the time he began working with them in the 80's (helping out with games like Earthbound,Kirby and Pokemon, etc.) up until his passing and that all he has done for them and the community in general,we must be thankful for all the hard worIn Memory of Satoru Iwata5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Zeviant FartThere's nothing more I can add to the debate/communal rant currently taking place that has not already been said, other than repeat my opinion that, if something requires explanation, it's not art. This is doubly so when it comes to a logo, which is supposed to convey a message by way of a simplified image, be that message a name or a graphical representation of purpose and/or meaning.Zeviant Fart1 year ago in Personal More Like This

After the success of "What if Gravity Falls was an anime", I made another one which was longer and more insane than the previous:
But I wasn't able to finish it without the huge support of my fans over on Patreon!
The huge surprise is that the creator of The Amazing World of Gumball, Ben Bocquelet, retweeted my fan animation!
And I'm so happy that it reached and featured on Cartoon Brew, a site I watch to check for news about cartoons and animations.
Not only that, the number of my Patrons doubled since the release of the animation!
Thank you everyone for your love and support!
After the rushing job with TAWOG anime, I wasn't able to take much break and had to help my sis mogumogumogu with finishing her manga/comic: http://fav.me/d8gjyje

As with anything in the first world: if we can pay people to do it for us, we do. There’s nothing wrong with this, nor is there anything wrong with electing to hunt down your own food.
There is, however, something very wrong with hunting down and killing an animal just for the sake of it, be it a common deer or something more exotic:
“Hunting is a legitimate sport!” Some people will no doubt cry, while stroking their favourite firearm.
No. It’s not.
Waiting for an animal to wander over to the bait you laid out for it so you can shoot it in its dumb face with a ranged weapon from your beer-can littered sitting position will NEVER be a “sport”.
I don't fave watermarks.I’ve harped on about this before and I’m going to do it again…..and again and again…..until people stop doing it.I don't fave watermarks.10 months ago in Personal More Like This
I do not fave pictures that have watermarks right across them.
This isn’t me being monumentally arrogant and thinking that I alone faving a piece of work bestows upon it some kind of greatness. This is just me having an artistic eye.
If you’ve slaved to create the most astounding piece of work to have ever graced the galleries of deviantart, something that puts all your peers to shame and will remain a benchmark that others aim to match for years to come…..and then across the middle of it you decide to slap a watermark that you spent 5 minutes farting out: you just f**ked up your artwork. You have added something that detracts from my enjoyment of the piece and I’m not going to fave it.
There are a number of brilliant artists out there who I’m on the verge of unfollowing, simply because it irks me so much to see a
How to Remove that GHASTLY Orange 'Core' TagDeviantArt seems to be raising the price of premium membership, and are now renaming it to what I'm sure they were hoping would be indicative of their pseudo-edgy brand, but in reality, is just confusing the hell out of people. Christ I'm old.
Now, I don't have a problem with dA changing their prices. Inflation is a real thing, and a business has to do what it must to stay afloat. What astounds me, though, they're making such a big deal out of it. Aren't you supposed to not have some big front-page celebration of raising prices? Aren't you just supposed to sneak it in, not say a word, and hope nobody really notices? And if people do raise a fuss, make some business-ey statement about "operating costs" and "economic trends" in some big-worded pile of lip service to quell the peasant folk?
And not only are they making a big deal out of it
Online EnduranceSome little ball of faecal matter posted a comment on my profile, proudly announcing “Tom Preston finally left DA”, no doubt in an effort to stir something up.Online Endurance4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Now, I don’t know a huge amount about Tom Preston (AKA Andrew Dobson), I’m just aware of the sketchy details: he drew fetish stuff, he tried to deny it, he posted some incendiary journal entries and some people claim his art is no good.
Excluding the denial part, that sounds eerily familiar to my online shtick. The only difference seems to be in our approach to faceless internet hate. Where TP appears to have taken it very, very personally, thus fanning the flames, I treated mine for what it was: faceless.
That’s the first thing you should always remember when reading through comments about your work: everybody is a phantom. An avatar with a silly name. Their comments could be good, their comments could be bad, but ultimately, unless you’re certain the individual behind them has some in
