Light warmed their pallid faces, the children of skin and bone,
who sat around the lantern of Jack, together but alone.
Their beady eyes all full of woe, at the thought of what would remain,
for what creatures did stir in the darkness, of the hallowed eves domain.
A snap here and a creak there, pushed them closer to the light,
as the lantern of Jack grinned at them all, and told the shadows to beware his bite.
They had carved his face from a pumpkin, sneaking all the seconds they could make,
building their Jack to be the best, hoping they had the time it would take.
The machines still echoed in their minds, pistons firing with the blood of steam,
they knew no other life, except this hellish workhouse dream.
And then there were the cries, the anguishes of pain,
the pleading from those not quick enough, to avoid the claws insane.
The grasping hooks of steel, that tore at cloth and flesh,
with an equal ignoran

The Prosperous Dove silently landed on the Airdock platform. She had been a vibrant, lively trading ship that had often visited the Wind City over the years, but today she was like a ship of ghosts.
Each of her crew was a pallid shadow of their former selves, and anyone who had taken the time to look into their eyes would only see a look of terror deep within. What they had seen on this voyage they would never forget for as long as they lived. But thankfully they would not have to carry these nightmares with them for much longer, for they would never reach their next destination. Lost souls who would soon be lost to the world.
The gangplank was lowered, and after a long pause their only passengers disembarked, watched with intense hopeless gazes by the crew, glad to see them departing at last. A man dressed in robes of such dark green that they could easily have been taken for the blackest of night, led the group from the ship, his
Smile - Cloud Strife OneshotEvery day was exactly the same, as it had been for the past two years, ever since Sephiroth was defeated, and the world was saved by AVALANCHE. I had once been a member of the famed group, but after Sephiroth was defeated and our goal accomplished, I felt that I was no longer needed, so I disappeared without telling them anything. Not my closest friends among them Yuffie Kisuragi, Nanaki, and Cait Sith, not my brother, Vincent Valentine, and not the leader, Cloud Strife. I just up and left one morning before they were awake, leaving a note that said I hadnt been kidnapped, that I was just leaving.Smile - Cloud Strife Oneshot6 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
Ever since then it had been: wake up, shower, check weapons, armor, materia, check phone for messages, head out for work, fight a few monsters, get injured, get paid, heal myself with materia, go back to the place I was staying, shower, eat, go to bed. Same old, same old, it never changed. I still wondered from time to time how everyone was doing, Cloud, Barret, Cid, Yuffie, Nanaki, Cai
Silence the VictimsHe was shoved in the chest by a pair of forceful hands, and he toppled backwards, falling in the grass on his rear. He glanced up in fear at the boys who surrounded them, excitement in their eyes and amusement in their grins. The one who pushed him down, their unofficial leader, kicked him where it hurt. He heard fuzzy laughter as he saw stars. He would have thought—would have hoped—that it would end there. But it didn’t.Silence the Victims1 year ago in Emotional More Like This
He wasn’t sure how many bruises he would have to cover up after this, just that it hurt. He was in pain. He didn’t want to feel pain. He wanted out. He had to get away from the pain. He had to get away from the root of the pain. Instinct reminded him of the pain givers that stood above and around him in the back of the schoolyard, relentlessly kicking him with their worn sneakers and pounding him with their child fists.
Suddenly the pain was ignored and his body was numb as he instinctively stood up, yelling, before breaking through the g

One Solitary Snowflakeanother desolate winter morning. One Solitary Snowflake6 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
gray skies have not held color in some time.
cold winds blow to snatch
ones breath away,
stealing more than just the warmth from the air.
stealing more than just the comfort from a soul.
one solitary snowflake hits the ground.
the trees devoid of leaves.
the parks devoid of people, they all
retreated inward to the fires,
to the arms of lovers waiting for them.
fortunate fools who have a lover.
fortunate fools who never have to be alone.
one solitary snowflake hits the ground.
seasons never meant to carry on
for months bleeding into years,
for extended points in time, and yet,
here i am, once again, alone.
sometimes i sense my heart about to falter.
sometimes i sense my life about to slip into the abyss
no man was meant to be an island.
yet one solitary snowflake hits the ground.
Feelings of the Child ...Feelings of the Child....Feelings of the Child ...5 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
if you cannot accept the innocent gifts of a child
and reflect the joy of its presentation,
what then prompts you
to believe that you can find grace or joy?
were we not all children once of small beginning,
with longings to please ...
to be cherished by those who tower above us?
did we not search for that embrace
of love, forgiveness if we failed
I did, didn't you?
perhaps we are to put away childish things in our adulthood,
but I believe we should remember the feelings
of the child within us.
to the benefit of the child now before us,
out-stretched hands of trust reaching ...
... failing here, we have failed in all things, life would be

On the moon in my dreams
A queen that cries milk and honey
When her heart explodes into a shower
Of pomegranate seeds.
I love the playboy bunny tattoo
On her right wrist, it prevents me from forgetting
The first time we ever kissed.
The image of her snow-white smile
And perfectly outlined lips
Haunt me at night when I sleep
I cant stop thinking about the way
She moved her hips
When she slithered into bed
And into my arms like a snake
Beneath the sheets, she makes it feel so real
Even though our love is fake.
I want to hold her close
Skin pressed against me tight
Lie still and close my eyes
So wrong yet it feels so right.
Pull her in and push deep down
Sinking like a boat in the ocean
Drowning forever in the sound of her hypnotic voice
I want to tear her apart.

Shedding a light within our dark
To make each day much better spent
To guide us to the place we're meant
This hand to hold when feeling blue
A hug that's passed from me to you
Soft kisses to brighten up your day
A love that's shared in every way
Souls in tune to a song birds sing
A gentle comfort that love can bring
The melding of two into what's just one
A brighter glow to each days sun
These gifts of love we'll share complete
Upon this day when we will meet
Sweet Valentine will you be mine?
From this day forward, till end of time..

Out of your favourite shirt
That you somehow left behind,
A favourite thing discarded.
It reminded myself of me,
The way it lay so forlorn
I considered it a mercy kill.
I Stabbed at it to put it down,
To save it from its own misery
Yet to somehow hurt you.
To draw blood from your chest
By sheer want, anger and will power.
Like sharp nails dragged along skin
Just the wrong side of pain.
Dug in sharply, scored deeply,
As I wantonly started to cut and tear,
To rip sharply and without mercy.
Like your emotions ripped through me
I tore and clawed at empty fabric.
To hurt something that was yours
Wishing it were not air within
But the solid meat of your chest
Laid open with my scissors.
In my wanton tantrum of grief
Among a ruin of ripped rags.
Nothing recognisable left.
Of what was once a shirt
Of what was once you and I
Guilty tears stains added.
I slept clutching the pieces
Stitching won't fix this
The Lion and The Lamb'Good morning',The Lion and The Lamb5 years ago in Concrete Poetry More Like This
said the lion to the lamb.
'I fear that I may interrupt,
but why are you eating ham?'
The lamb responded thusly:
'Please do not confuse me sir,
with tender-hearted sheep
for I am a great big bird
that came down from the deep'
'Oh then, that's alright,'
quickly the feline said,
'I'll whisper not a word,say
have you some bread?'
'No dear fellow,'
the lamb gravely replied,
'because as you can see
I was waiting for the main course
and it happens to be thee.'
The lamb sat licking its chops,
like the great bird it really was,
it had eaten the lion,
except the claws.
So, my friend,
now you know,
that lambs rule
and lions blow.

Friends are your strength in your hour of need
And are always willing to do a good deed
Friends will stand with you despite who will win
And are able to forgive any foolish sin
Friends are always willing to share a cup of tea
And are not people who think whats in it for me
Friends can tell when you are in a hole
And in your silent moments will lift your soul
And to all those friends we no longer see
All we can say is you are no loss to me
And to those that stick with us till the end
You are the ones we truly call Friend.

To share a laugh or wipe a tear
We complete our lives and give so much
Remembering always to keep in touch
We fill a void when one is lonely
To gossip about our one and only
To share a joke or just a dream
Over coffee, tea or cakes with cream
We complain over gaining weight
Our husbands getting home too late
The kids and endless chores to do
Of wondering where our lives went to
We frown at wrinkles and the price of gas
Of Getting up early for Sunday Mass
The dog digging holes in the backyard
Of life in general just being too hard
But everyday we do it again
We ring each other to keep us sane
We laugh and say what would we do
Without a friend as nice as you
The sun is brighter and life is worth living
Because of you and your selfless giving
Our friendship will last a long long time
For you, this gift, my special Rhyme..
