Human Nature When you are young,
they will treat you with the softness of spring.
They will guide you through the winter winds and
over snowy hills, admiring the brilliance of your
midday innocence; pulling daisies from the earth
just to place them in your hair. And they will
whisper to each other of how beautiful you are.
When you grow older,
they will treat you with the indifferences of autumn.
They will urge you from the complacency of your own
fleeting fulfillments, and they will watch your
brilliance fade with the swiftness of the sky. You
will shed your fragile childhood with the colors of
the trees, and you will learn to face the winter winds
without their guiding arms. And they will whisper to
each other of how beautiful you are.
When you are grown,
they will treat you with the coldness of winter. They
will leave you bare and naked before the ravenous wolves,
expecting you to fend for your own forgotten brilliance,
asking why you've kept those wilting daisies in your hair.
Specific Imagery: What Makes a Poem Good?Specific Imagery: What Makes a Poem Good?Specific Imagery: What Makes a Poem Good?11 months ago in Literature Features More Like This
So what makes a poem good?
According to Samuel Taylor Coleridge (please, never just call him Sam) the definition of poetry is "the best words in their best order".
Fine. But what exactly does that mean?
It means that good poetry is about much more than just matching rhythm and rhyme. What elevates any poem above its peers is the specific choice of words to match the poet's intent.
Say what now?
Think of it this way: our chosen words are our color palette, and the way we combine them equates to brush strokes and blending. Strong words equal bold hues, while overused and cliché terms are a lot like faded watercolors. You want your hard work to stand out, not blend in, right?
Of course I do!
Then my biggest piece of advice is this: choose your words.
What do you mean? I always choose my words; I'm a writer, after all!
What I mean is, do your best to choose the most appro

I've ever being freelance illustrator for 2 years and half before I take the leap to be entrepreneur path for almost 3 years,so I would like to sharing what I had learnt. If you asking me,how about income in freelancing path,I would like to said it's OK.It's not making you get rich quick in this path but compare working hour with income I think it's quite decent. If you working hard, you will gaining more but I would like to said if you want sustainable path. You need to develop your own product, because it make you didn't have to depend on freelance job which you didn't know whether it will run dry.
It's good that I live in Thailand also.If you can relocate to some place with lower living cost. You may consider to do so because it saving you a lot of money in a long run.

POCKY DAY FEATURESGreetings all friends, watchers, and random passer-bys!POCKY DAY FEATURES2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Today on November 11th (11/11), there is a little random event going on in Japan in which we call it "Pocky's Day".
Q: What's a Pocky's Day?
The company that produces the snack Pocky has set 11/11 as "Pocky's Day" just to celebrate with randomness.
Conspiracy of snack companies, I know lol
You can check out their website, and see how much derp they have done so far!
I'm just joining the bandwagon to celebrate this random event for fun and have some excuses to eat pockys lol
As I have posted on my poll few days ago, I'm going to keep my words and hold "POCKY DAY FEATURES"
Anyone is welcome to join - all you gotta do is submit a deviation that's related to Pocky, and give me the link to it (you can just leave it as a comment on this journal or note me.). Then I'll be more than happy to feature it for you on my journal!
10 beneficial things artists should ask themselvesHere's 10 important questions to ask yourself. Read them constantly as a checklist to make sure your are heading in the right direction and using your artistic potential.10 beneficial things artists should ask themselves4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
1. What motivates you to create art? Write down your answer and think about how you can use this very important information.
2. What kinds of information have you been putting on the internet? The internet is the new resume. If I can find dumb pics or comments from you then other people can too...
3. Does your art express something interesting? Great art means something to its viewers, not just its creator.
4. Does failure push you forward? How you deal with failure will determine how skillfull you will become.
5. Do you enjoy arguing or flaming people's work? If you are the type of person to hate on others, it will come back to you. Especially with the internet and all the social networking.
6. Do you try out new methods/materials/subjects that might be unconfortable at first? Success is inevitable if you always choo
A rescue dogA few days ago, when I was at open field work in another city 200km away from Warsaw, working as off-road/trail photographer as usually- I got a call about a husky dog in desperate need that is located in MY area. Fully starved dog (just bones), having severe skin issues, bleeding and leaking mold off from skin and fur is falling off found on streets laying down- and needs immediate health attention. I'm not anymore active volunteer in my animal rescue foundation due to life changes, but my instincts of rescuing animals came back. I've responded to the animal foundation and took responsibility of picking up and transporting a husky in need.A rescue dog3 months ago in Personal More Like This
I had to cut off from work, and ummm the issue was… I went there with my co-worker whith his car. Everything sounded perfect, that dog was in need to be transported to Warsaw by today which is good for me cause after work we are driving back to Warsaw.
Buuuut the problem was… A nice, shiny BMW car.

Art and perfectionismDear, deviantart fellow artistsArt and perfectionism4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Perfectionism can be a good and a bad thing at the same time. We strive for it, but sometimes the result doesn't exceed our expectations. And that's okay.
Not every single artwork you make has to be a masterpiece. Make some sketches, speedpaints, studies - just do something. See your flaws, be aware of them - and work on them. Don't put yourself down with negativity. It never helps. It takes time to learn, to gain new skills and make art. Through many hours of work we achieve what we want. And it takes time.
It's so easy to give up. To think - what's the point in doing this, if the artwork is never perfect. Art doesn't have to be always perfect, it has to be made. We have to get used to the fact that we'll never be good enough - there is a beauty in that, because we have something to strive for, to experience and observe.
Making art is difficult and yet it's fun. En

I think we all agree that DD features should be given fairly and with a sense of balance and moderation. For me, there's still questions about the purpose of DDs (pieces that 'deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large'). Are they being brought to the attention of the community-at-large for that attention alone, or are they there to showcase specific talent as an example of what can be achieved?
If it's all about exposure and attention then perhaps there's also room for a feature that celebrates technical merit or innovation, pieces that are judged on that piece of artwork alone. I think I'll try to find out more about this but in the meantime I'll continue to adore DDs in the way that I see them and I encourage you to continue to enjoy and marvel at them too.
Daily Deviations. They are marvellous things.

I'm going to be out of town until the middle of March. I can't guarantee I will be able to be contacted until then. But I'm not going to leave you all hanging with an old prompt.
A piece of advice I give to people who seem to have confidence problems when it pertains to their writing is to not compare themselves to anyone else. Doesn't matter if it's another deviant, a classmate, sibling, hero, rival, etc -- I don't think it's particularly helpful to be competitive when something as subjective as art is the focus.
1. Your Main Character is really good at ______________.
It must NOT be something you are really good at.
It must NOT be something you are really bad at.
It must NOT be writing.
So pick something for your Main Character to be an expert about. The more unique, the better. Take time to think about this
to be beautiful"What happens if you fall in love with a writer?to be beautiful3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Lots of things might happen. That's the thing about writers. They're unpredictable. They might bring you eggs in bed for breakfast, or they might all but ignore you for days. They might bring you eggs in bed at three in the morning. Or they might wake you up for sex at three in the morning. Or make love at four in the afternoon. They might not sleep at all. Or they might sleep right through the alarm and forget to get you up for work. Or call you home from work to kill a spider. Or refuse to speak to you after finding out you've never seen To Kill A Mockingbird. Or spend the last of the rent money on five kinds of soap. Or sell your textbooks for cash halfway through the semester. Or leave you love notes in your pockets. Or wash you pants with Post-It notes in the pockets so your laundry comes out covered in bits of wet paper. They might cry if the Post-It notes are unread all over your pants. It's an unpredictable life.
But what happens

Choosing a Fixed Form for your Poem
If you want to know how to write a sonnet deviantART has you covered but what if you want to know if the sonnet is the right choice for the poem you intend to write? The point of this journal is to introduce the steps in the process of choosing a fixed form to write in and some questions a writer should work through to find a form that suits the content.
Know Your Forms
There's no way around this one, in order to choose a fixed form you must first know what's out there. A great guide here on dA to get your bearings on poetry forms is Beccalicious' PE: Poetry Forms- An A-Z. Here's another excellent guide that is for

Malta- The Happy IslandOn the day off I was sitting on the table in a cheap apartment complex for travelers with multi-people shared room where I lived with my friend. Despite of feeling like a melted chocolate every day and having wet hands ( and hey, my Nesquick chocolate which I bought from store already got melted too!), I tried to sit down in a public table to work on a commission.Malta- The Happy Island1 month ago in Personal More Like This
Surprisingly, in Malta there are BARELY any air conditioners. I swear, there days are hotter than in Florida. And we have the worst room because... even it doesn't have open-able windows. Sleeping was a pure nightmare. So hot and hard to breath comfortably. I felt like in a can. Or no, even worse, in a plastic bag.
Oh yes, that's the best word to describe.
Wear a plastic bag on your head and try to breathe during warm days.
After the first sleepless night I wanted nothing but return back to the North.

Of Broken Things and a Heartless ManThis is going to be long and stupidly detailed but I think I need to get this out because I have a feeling that I may not be the only girl with a story like this.Of Broken Things and a Heartless Man2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A couple of years ago I met a boy called S. He was kind, quiet and made me coffee every morning at an office we both despised for what it represented. I fell head over heels for his quiet charm, his music, his soothing voice: who he was. Except I didn't really know who he really was. Slowly, over the course of the relationship, he began to point out things he didn't like about me. He didn't like the way I overused certain phrases, the way I spoke, the way I sang, and he didn't want to listen to me talk about my past because it burdened him, and he didn't like that...basically all the little things that made me, ME would have to change. This is where I made the most critical mistake.
I changed for him.
I changed who I was to please S. And do you know what? The more I changed to suit his needs, the more demands he put on
