Isolating Structures In MB3DHow to clean up your image background ~Isolating Structures In MB3D2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Wow. I haven't done a journal in ages. I thought I would share a little trick for getting a nice clean background when you want to isolate a structure in Mandelbulb 3D. Why? Because sometimes the structures behind the main focus of your image or the main structure are either just small repeats of the main structure, or they are fragmented and in one way or another just not as interesting. Or the background might bury the foreground object in detail or draw attention away from what you really want the viewer to focus on. People strive for a lot of detail, and that's fine, and sometimes it works. But often I find that there's no main focus to frame your point of view. (Edit: I forgot to mention this is made using Mandelbulb 3D version 1.8.2 and I fixed a few typo's!)
Sometimes you're able to focus on the foreground structure through clever use of fog, lights and depth of field settings. Nothing wrong with that either, so this is just another

About Project Porkchop
The DeviantArt Experience can sometimes quickly become the quintessential example of that most frustrating problem: too much of a good thing. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to peruse the thousands of submissions and postings of artistic innovation, creativity and sheer beauty that are generated everyday.
So thank you for ProjectPorkchop!
Astralseed, an Icelandic deviant artist with a penchant for equines, including Quirlicorns (a breed of unicorns), has made our busy lives so much easier with ProjectPorkchop, a feature she started on her DeviantArt page. First thing we'll cover are some tweaking tips. Tweaking, not to be confused with Twerking. Almost everyone does it. It's one of the best ways to learn. This section of the tutorial will cover some of the basics that will hopefully help new MB3D users with tweaking. Just don't let words like iterations, raystep multiplier and stepthwidth limiter scare you off. You don't need to know the math behind these things. Just consider those words as lables to show you where a setting is and you'll do fine. That's what the GUI is for, to make using the program fairly simple. I'm going to use a sample parameter of mine from about 2 1\2 years ago which is a tweak in a long line of tweaks. You will find that I am guilty of a few things that I'm going to cover, so it's a good example.
As always, I like to mention that I am not a tech giant. I really don't know a lot of the technical aspects of Mandelbulb 3D. If you are interested in the technical
Patty and Jorge's Amazing PongRecently, Patty - Undead-Academy and Jorge - batjorge reached the epic milestone of 1,000 entries in their Fractal Pong.Patty and Jorge's Amazing Pong6 months ago in Personal More Like This
In case you are unfamiliar with the term 'pong', it is an artistic collaboration between two fractalists. First one artist renders a work and passes the finished parameters to the second. The second artist renders a variation of the first work and passes the new parameters back to the first artist for their turn at tweaking. This process repeats. The artworks evolve over time and at the hands of each artist.
While pongs are not exclusive to fractals, the parameter-driven software lends itself well to this type of collaboration.
Patty & Jorge did not invent the idea of a pong but unless it can be proven otherwise, they have just finished the longest running pong in DeviantArt history.
:iconpongorama: is a group devoted to Pong Teams. We felt ourselves lucky to have Patty & Jorge join the group and let us host a

Spines and Backbones
“Backbone” as a metaphor has always evoked determination, strength of character, toughness of spirit.
It is also an indicator of alignment, of being on the right track, of having everything in life in functioning order. “Breaking” one’s back means utter devastation, paralysis, losing everything. Being “spineless” is perhaps the worst insult any man would care to ever hear about himself. And then there’s the

Note: these are not the holy grail settings for reflections and transparency. They are what this is called: a quick and dirty approach for those who (like me for a long long time) need a place to start and experiment from. All in here is based on what I found out myself or what I was pointed to by kind fellow DA-members. If you find fault with it, have additional tips or whatever, please drop me a note Also, please remember, I am not a native speaker. Either ignore spelling- and/or grammar-mistakes or (even better!) point me to them if you like!
Errmm... Maybe it's not such a Quick tutorial after all... :}

What is fractal art for you?I guess i got an apology to make, beause this was not a matter i took seriously till this week, and, i guess, just got a bunch of things to re-consider. Well, better late than neverWhat is fractal art for you?1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
One characteristic of fractal art is that is fairly reproduceable.
A real master with deep knowledge of fractal software can, just from looking at a piece, find out how it was made, and re-create it. It is actually amazing, and, a while ago, I followed with quite a lot of interest, the "duel" between FractalDesire and zy0rg, when they both tried - and succeeded - in reproducing each other`s artworks.
Generous people share parameters and allow other people to tweak them or just study them and learn. For example, the longest fractal pong on deviantART, by Undead-Academy and batjorge

The Project I have been working on subconsciously for years, which I mentioned in my previous post is now finished.
--- The Hyper Surreal Fractalic Mystical Chess set - My Masterpieces ---
The full set is a play in 7 acts about humanity, the evolution and the quest for knowledge through enlightenment and superfluity until the day when mankind finally became the plague of the planet.
A chess set immensely more surreal than Max Ernsts, Marcel Duchamps and Dalís sets.
Chess was made to be played with pieces of pure fractal mathematics, I now know that!

Be patient and read everything. Tell me if sthg remains unclear as soon as you can.
I am looking for a set of new sample params that will be included with the next Mb3d x2, that will be a formula update + a param update.
You CAN CONTRIBUTE AND YOUR NICK will be in the param name.
Resulting images must be elegant, incisive and clean, with a stepwidth of 0.5 to min 0.3! I will be very exigent with those requirements! Sample images are examples of elegance in my eyes.
no decombines. (ALTERNATE MODE each formula can have any number of iterations 1 to 20, leave maxiter to 60 as it's fast to render). And no weird looking images. Remember the elegance rule, fractals are not random
Use neutral colors. That means; not full hue ones, prefer those more grey-ish, in general. You always can use coloured lights (just not use all the colors in the spectrum at once if possible) - and you can use dynamic fog also AND any other option in postpr

Welcome to the fifth edition of Meet the Fractal community !
In few words, Meet the Fractal Community is be a bi-monthly interview with an artist of our beloved fractal community.
This week let's have a closer look to `FarDareisMai !
First of all , please introduce yourself to the community.
My name is Jess, I'm 23 and I live in Montana, USA, and if you ever want to talk to me I hang out in :#Aposhack: a lot.
Tell me how to call you? Do you go by your Name or an artistic pseudonym?
My name is fine. A lot of people here call me Far, which is also perfectly fine. Either works for me.
How did you discover deviantART ?
As I recall, I was linked to it from a Wheel of Time fansite a very long time ago.
What is your earliest Artistic memory ?
Oh, this is a hard one. I've probably been drawing since I had the motor skill to hold a marker. When I wa

Knighty, an amazing guy at the forums, wa able to do a sorcery using its great skills; apparently it's possible to create Mb3D formulas using C!!! This will open the field for big innovations due to the ease of use of C.

Surface design and textures on new IFS formulas
I think it's still a good idea to evaluate the new formulas by dark-beam as many of us are doing currently.
However, I also want to focus our attention on another part of creating fractals: Designing the surface of the fractal structure.
For this focus I think it's most useful to work with IFS type formulas.
Therefore my rules for the next teasers consist on two parts:
1. Use *any* of the new, or updated IFS type fromulas from the new formula package from dark-beam.
I have checked the package from march-25th, and found the below IFS type formulas:
