HINAUCHI- Customer review do not commission herSo I thought I would let you all know that back in march of 2011 I had commissioned HinaUchi for a piece of art that I had originally planned to give to :iconcrazy-voodoo-lady: for her birthday. Which is in july.
Time went, july came and pasted, I never saw my art that i paid for. Now in late August I had to ask for a refund from HIna because I lost my camera that was my birthday present from my mom and I needed to replace it before my mom found out. For those of you that don't know my family be thankful. My mom can scare the crazy neighbor who has the gun.
Hina Had spent my money in the time and thus couldn't afford to give me my refund. instead she made a journal for me asking others to commission me. While helpfull not that helpfull >.>
I then waited a YEAR, with questions here and there about my art. before I finally got it and she put little effort into it.http://hinauchi.deviantart.com/gallery/?q=silvernightphoenix#/d4ve8mp she even states herself that she does not like it. I spe

In part two I'm gonna talk about one of the biggest roadblocks I hear from artists who are having difficulty getting in to good study habits, so without further ado...
WISDOM NUMBER TWO!! Don't wait for perfect weather and stop making excuses. So often I hear things like "I don't want to waste paper" or "I don't know what to draw" or "I haven't found a good tutorial" or "I don't want to study perspective" or any number of things along those lines. I'll be blunt and just put the answer out there now: get over it. If you want to be an artist, you have to do the work, end of story. And with all the time you've spent thinking, wondering, being uncertain, and searching for that magical art secret of power, you could have filled 10 pages in your sketchbook today and inc

WISDOM NUMBER THREE!!! Work smart and leave your comfort zone. This part is my qualifier for art school, tutorials, and educational resources in general, because they can be good, but only if you make them good. Once you've gotten in to the habit of drawing consistently, it's important to start being mindful of what you're drawing, how you're drawing it, and why you're drawing it. A key ingredient of success is hard work, but if that work isn't purposeful it might not move you

The goal is to complete the list, but 52 is a lot. So do as many as you can.
You DO NOT have to do the list in order. Please feel free to skip around.
Please submit your project entries to the 52 Week Project Folder.
I know time is an issue for most people, as it is for me.
These entries do NOT have to be epic masterpieces; sketches are acceptable though finished work is always proffered.
You may NOT change a theme from the list and submit it to the project folder.
Anything submitted to the project folder needs to be labeled in some way to indicate its part of the project.
it could be as simple as numbering the piece or saying "Pr

How to: Request CSS HelpI do get notes and comments of people asking for help quite a lot. While most people do just fine there are some people that forget that they are asking for a favour and aren’t in the position to demand anything. How to: Request CSS Help2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Others are just so vague that you never really know what they really want you to do. And because of that I decided to write down some tips – based on my own experience – to help those who are not sure how to ask for help right. It will make things easier for both sides.
The following things are not universal, they reflect mostly my point of view and how I would like to deal with such request and the process of it. It will not apply for all CSS coders, but it should still give you an idea of what to do and what you should avoid.
Before you ask for help
Make sure that you have tried everything that is within your possibilities. The best way of learning is to spot mistakes on your own.
Sometimes it is easier to quickly ask someone el

Bullshit myths about feminism.I know, I know. Going all ideological on you guys is a little a-typical for me, and perhaps (I hope) I'm preaching to the choir. But I've been noticing a lot of negativeness around the word and (more importantly) the ideology of feminism, and a lot of that seems to be based on misinformation or misunderstanding. This might not be the best place to fix any of that, but I felt like chipping in anyway. It beats doing nothing, right?Bullshit myths about feminism.3 months ago in Personal More Like This
So, here's some of my "favorite" bullshit myths:
Bullshit Myth: Feminists think girls are better than guys.
Feminism isn't Misandry! Feminists don't hate guys, or think women are better than guys. In fact, that idea is the other opposite of what it's really about : equality.
When extreme feminism turns into Misandry it stops being feminism, as they are fighting against the very thing feminism hopes to accomplish. (I believe these people a tiny minority but I won't deny it exists; there's nutcases on every team after all).

ShinXChange: Everything You'd Need to Know, EverSo you're interested in the ShinXChange? That's good to hear! This blog entry is a compilation of (hopefully) everything you'll need to know in order to participate in the exchange and other activities of this group! What is an Exchange?
An art exchange is essentially like a Secret Santa except it is monthly recurring. Each month, Shinerai will open Roll Call. At this time, ShinXChange members will have four (4) days to submit references of their own personal characters that they would like to have drawn. Each participant is given a random (and secret) artist to draw for and one month to complete the artwork. Once you finish your piece, you will get to surprise your secret person with wonderful art of their character, and some other secret person will get to surprise you too. Any art drawn for the exchange will, of course, be subm

Advice for Aspiring Artists Pt. 1So this has been on my mind a bit lately and I was just struck with the sudden urge to write about it. It's a bit long so I've broken it in to three parts, but if you're a beginning artist I would recommend reading through it, it might just get you aimed in the right direction.Advice for Aspiring Artists Pt. 11 year ago in Personal More Like This
This started a couple days ago when I was trolling facebook and someone had posted some artwork, and one of the comments was something along the lines of "Nice! What tutorial did you use for this?" which prompted an immediate and violent facedesk on my part. I hear things like this all the time and would like to help dispel some myths about learning art; so after 9 years of drawing and 3 years of hardcore education and study, here's what I've learned about how to get better at art:
WISDOM NUMBER ONE! Getting better demands consistent, hard work. That's it. That's the magical secret that great artists never seem to get to in their tutorials; it's that one pivotal thing that makes the difference between

5 Pieces of Critique You Should Always Disregard1. "I have a problem with your premise." This is the red flag to end all red flags. I don't care how flimsy the premise is. Every idea has the potential to be a good story. Execution is something else entirely, but if somebody doesn't like your idea: don't listen to them. What they're basically saying is "I am not an Ideal Reader, therefore not your target audience, therefore I am not the right person to critiquing your work." I hate, hate, hate people who think you should be writing for broader audiences than your story is capable of reaching. If you're writing romance, you're writing romance for romance readers. You're not trying to reach hard science fiction readers. Very few people even know what makes a breakout mainstream novel that has high market appeal. If they did, every single book ever written would be Harry Potter. It just doesn't happen. And for somebody to ask you to make that happen is ridiculous and unfair. For the most part, writers are writ5 Pieces of Critique You Should Always Disregard2 years ago in Personal More Like This

There is a Creator that has given us the ability to imagine and co-create with Him
We have this excellent gift to create things and show them as they are in our minds, we can make people travel to the worlds inside our imagination, get them to see new things or usual things from a new perspective.
This is the most important thing for me, to use my God-given gift of creativity and exploit it in as many ways as I possibly can, from drawing, to sculpture, singing and writing.
Everything can be used as inspiration for creating art, even if it is negative or positive
Any experience, thought, circumstance, idea, or action, can give valuable input to create. Going on a nature hike, walking down the stre

A 7-year-old boy was beaten to death by his parents last week after he failed to read the Bible and do his homework, according to Metro Police.
The horrific allegations of child abuse stand in stark contrast to the couple's Facebook pages, which seemingly show a loving and religious family devoted to Roderick Arrington, nicknamed "RJ." On one Facebook photo — apparently of Arrington and his niece — Markiece Palmer wrote: "My babies they make me happy. GOD bless the children!!!" On another photo of the boy and another child, Dina Palmer wrote: "I love them with heart and soul!!!!" A Facebook post from October 2010 reads: "Lord please guide my steps.... The Black ZodiacI was watching the Thirteen Ghosts on tv and I was interested in the Black Zodiac. It's a little different than the movie, but here's what I could dig up:The Black Zodiac5 years ago in Personal More Like This
Contrary to popular belief -- this is NOT based on the movie 13 Ghosts. The Black Zodiac is actually the dark and tortured counterpart to the solar Roman Zodiac that was exposed in the Necronomicon, the book of the dead. The movie 13 ghosts used the signs of the Zodiac, but changed the names to fit the ghosts for the movie.....these are the real names and descriptions of the Black Zodiac, as listed in the Necronomicon. Find out your Zodiac's dark counterpart.
Aries = The Selfish King (March 21 - April 20)
Your sign is of the Mesopotamian God Marduk. He slayed Kingu (sometimes referred to as a Demon) and created Mankind from his blood. In order for Marduk and the other Gods/Goddesses to be at leisure, mankind was made to suffer. The selfish king represents Aries and is ruled by Marduk the Mesopotamia god.
