Redundant...I’m broken once moreRedundant...3 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
By the weight of paperwork
Of the forms,
Of tick boxes,
Of crossing all the T’s
And with the dotting all the I’s
Once more following a tedious protocol
That I had thought foolishly was behind me.
The hollowness of my bank account echoes
With the lack of paid wages for worked hours
I can almost hear the terrified rattle of the few coins within
As the zombie-like bills and direct debits demand payment
Too much time becomes claustrophobic
And new work scarce, elusive, an endangered species.
Experience cancelled out by age
Capabilities stagnating without chances.
--Never a good time for redundancy.
