I just transferred the photos from my camera to my computer and thought this might be interesting for some:

Snapshots of the big Smaug sculpture they'd built for the European premiere here in Berlin. They kept it over the holidays as part of the Christmas decoration. It is gone now, and since I quite miss old Smaug, I made this little tribute, though I'm indeed no great photographer. The upper-left picture is from the actual premiere. Soon after that the camera battery gave up and I was frustrated. To destroy any possible illusions: the wind-blown gnome on the upper-right picture is me.

This was taken with my phone and although a good phone it doesn't do too well in dark rooms while taking video. For those who saw my visualization of Smaug, I'm happy to report that I was correct on knowing what Smaug looks like YAY:) Here you can compare my drawing with the pictures and see that he is a wyvern and VERY beautiful.

For those who were hoping that Smaug would be a four legged dragon? very sorry, but don't worry. Dragon, wyvern doesn't matter, he is still a great fire breather on screen, and I'm very critical when it comes to accuracy in games and films. You will be pleased on how they made him. Also he sounds a little different than in the trailers, but still very good.
