I can't just exist. But I can't live either. I was never meant to live in a world like this. I'm sure of that. Where is the reality I desperately seek? Where is the end of my dream? When I wake up, will I want to go back to sleep?
I don't think I was ever born. I don't remember anything but pain. The pain I cause others. The pain inside my mind. Like a headache that never fades. If I reach out for help I drag that helping hand into the shadows. Into unknown darkness and torment. Nightmares. Perhaps I am a nightmare within a large beautiful dream.
It must be a beautiful dream. Because I met someone from outside, someone pure. Though the world is twisted and cruel she kept her sadness inside, it bloomed again and again within her soul. She came to me with a smile.
I can't remembe
Almost Human - Chapter 1: Prelude to MadnessI hope you enjoy the little gift I left behind. I'd love to see your face right now as you receive it. Your blood must be boiling over, your heart racing for the horror your eyes have witnessed, your mind flooding with adrenaline to come after me. All that drive and resolve drowning that constant stoic and brooding stare. Oh, how I'd love to be standing right in front of you to witness the reaction to my present. But alas, my attention is needed elsewhere. That idiot Harley Quinn of mine cannot function properly without my lead. But don't you fret my dear Dark Knight, by the time you finished reading this I'll be waiting for you. I will be waiting on the rooftops of Gotham; they will function as our stage. The scarce stars and moon hanging over the light polluted pestilent city will be our spotlight. Join me darling for another dance in our magnificent play. I'll be waiting, I always am.Almost Human - Chapter 1: Prelude to Madness3 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

World Conference: Introductory ChapterYou took a deep breath as you pushed open the doors to the World Conference building. You had never been more nervous to start a new job. You walked into the lobby, looking around sheepishly at the busy people rushing through. You had no idea where to report to or even who to ask; the receptionist was on the phone. You took the opportunity to take in the surroundings. The décor was delicate, and you contemplated taking a seat in one of the plush armchairs. You had barely sat down when someone called your name. You stood up again right away.World Conference: Introductory Chapter4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"[Name]? Are you ready for the new job?" A tall man walked towards you, his blonde cowlick bobbing comically. It was America, the one who had gotten you this position.
"Ah, yes. I'm so glad you're here. Do you know where I'm supposed to go?"
He shook your hand as a greeting. "Of course, man! I'm here to escort you. Come on, I'll take you to your office," he said as he put a hand on your shoulder, steering you towards an elevator.

Batman broke down as he stopped the last missed call he received from Joker.
It all happened so quickly. Why did he have to make things so difficult for himself all the time?
"If he just calmed down and let me help him for once, then he might still be here.."
Bruce trailed off, staring blankly at his hands, the image of the limp body of the pale faced man was still in his mind. How he just lied there in his arms. Dead. How could he feel this way, towards someone w
EndermanAs the young blond traced small details onto her map, she wiped a bit of sweat from her brow. For early fall, it sure was hot... Or perhaps that was just the heat of the furnace getting to her? Sighing, Fleet dropped her quill and stood up, dragging her hand through her short, fluffy hair. The day had been long, and the evidence of this was all over her body- Dirty clothes, a small smudge of coal dust on her left cheek... Not to mention the fact that her hands were stained with ink. But all the dirt, all of that dust had been worth it. It was always worth it. Sitting back down again, she didn't even notice the sun setting as she her mind floated in the lala land that most refer to as reverie. Nor did she notice the tall shadow striding towards her house, a diamond block in hand.Enderman5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

Real people dont sink as pretty as oil on canvas: Noah was four feet five on the autopsy slab, no flowers, no frames. I am ruled by the aesthetic, but I would embrace his every imperfection if it meant having him back. This clumsy dilettante still loves Noah with the scabs on his shins, sitting sloppy at Sams recitals in sneakers and shorts. Give me the asymmetry of his eyelashes. There is a reason I keep this part peripheral: this is not about drowning. Boys in deep lakes know nothing of footholds, and Noah left the rest of us grateful for something to stand on. Don't expect closure. This is about hindsight. Today, we know that we are spoiled by floors.)

Matthew got up bright and early at 8:00 am to meet you at the park, just like he did every Saturday morning. He finished his pancakes, and walked out the door with a smile.
As Matthew strolled through the park, he stopped and sat down at the nearest bench; the same bench he would always wait at. Every great day between the two of you would always start here and get better. He patiently waited and scanned around the park occasionally. He loved sitting on the bench and watching you run to him from afar, apologizing for being late. The way your face would be flushed from running full-speed, and you're babbling excuses for your tardiness was found oh-so amusing to the Canadian.
It had just turned 12:00 pm when a few more people strolled by through the park. Yet, Matthew waited patiently with that un-dying smile.
At around 3:00 pm, Alfred happened to stroll by and notice Matthew sitting on the bench. "Hey bro, how's it hangin'?" He asked with his overly-enth

You pulled Arthur out of the restaurant and, totally ignoring your car, you led him to a nearby park a few blocks down the street. You refused to slow your pace after what had happened. You wanted to just run to the end of the earth to escape Alfred at this point. You had always known the American to be impulsive and hardheaded, but you would have never pinned him as the person to ruin an entire evening!
When you reached the park, you allowed yourself to slow to a gentle walk, a welcome relief to Arthur who was tripping over his feet the entire way. You looked at the clock on the church tower across the street. It was just after four in the morning. Alfred had to blow the last two hours you had with Arthur tonight. You and Arthur sat down by the fountain and sat in silence. After what seemed like an eternity, you broke the silence.
Tears began to flow down your cheeks. Arthur, who had turned his face from you when he sat down, didn't notice until he heard you s

Year 2006 (49 years later)
There was a faint sound of crushing gravel as the little blue car pulled to a stop in the small parking lot. An aging man got out of the drivers side. He was extremely tall and well built for his age, and his hair was cut short and in varying shades of gray. A thick matching moustache adorned his slender, kindly face. Square glasses were perched on his nose. He reached back into the car, pulled out a simple mahogany cane, and with its help made his way over to the other side of the car.
He opened the passenger door and helped a young girl out of the car. This girl was fifteen years old, and skinny and straight as a twig. Her face was also slender like the mans, albeit much younger and more feminine. Shoulder length, sunflower blonde hair was swept up into a ponytail. She wore a simple white t-shirt and blue jeans, with flip-flops on her feet. Her hands were cov

You tried to recall the last time you ran a wash. More than a week ago. That explained it.
Now you scraped the back of your dresser drawers for something that didn't break the dress code. "Arugh!" The minutes on that clock were changing far too fast. Well you had to wear something. You tugged on a really tight pair of jeans, which felt a little like a push-up bra for your butt at the moment. Shoving your feet into a pair of tennis shoes, you donned a very lacy, tight camisole with thin straps. Over that, you wore a cute graphic tee you hardly ever got to wear, because it was an off-the-shoulder scoop neck, a detail you hadn't noticed when you bought it on clearance.
You brushed your hair quickly, muttering a curse as you checked the clock again, and grabbed your school supplies, leaving the house without breakfast.
Your heart sped and you blushed as you halted your brisk-walk in front of the blue door to your fir

Jack continued his taunting. "Playboy millionaire by day, Batman by night."
When the elevator came to a halt jack leapt out and waltzed around the cave, cooing at all the fancy equipment Bruce had Lucius create down in the warehouse. It was secretly funded against Wayne incorporations wishes but that just made it even more fun to do.

A Dragon's PunishmentIn the ancient Asian times, dragons were revered as being powerful creatures who could grant miracles such as plentiful harvests. Unfortunately for their winged cousins of the West, people feared them greatly despite their attempts to mingle peacefully. Attempt after attempt the Western dragons varied their communication to the humans that they meant no harm, but their cries fell on deaf ears. Finally fed up with the intrusion, the humans began to hunt the dragons in an effort to cull their existence. One such case stood out though that changed the way dragons were handled, eventually leading to peace with the humans. Fleet tilted her head and took the block, looking into the Enderman's eyes. It stared back and seemed to quiver a little, but it could still move. Why? Just... Why?

Chapter Eight – To Ride in Snow
The chill air plumed from her mouth as the horse cantered along the river’s shoreline. Spotting the ford to cross, Mira grinned, shot a look over to the other rider whose fair hair was flowing loose from any bonds, matching her steed’s pace easily. Kicking her heels into the horse’s ribs, Mira laughed as the horse bounded across the shallow water toward the snowy plains on the other side. The horse wickered at the sudden freedom of running. Mira could hear a yell coming from Ulfric as he urged his horse to chase after her.
They ran wildly over the snowy plain sparkling pristinely in the pale sunshine, enjoying the bit of freedom from war, politics, and the troubles of the land. It was if they were transported back twenty years when they were young and doing the same chase. Mira swerved her horse, to which Ulric laid a parallel run to Mira. Slapping the reins, Ulfric le

What? No seriously, WHAT? Godzilla looks just fine. It's like you people never once saw a single Godzilla movie in your entire life. Godzilla's supposed to look massive. Besides, remember the GMK Godzilla or the Heisei Godzilla? Remember how thin they were? Of course they weren't.
2. This movie is white-washed:
The movie was originally intended to be set in Japan but following the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear plant meltdown, they decided against it in respect. Also, I don't know if you even understand what "white-washed" means. The movie is not a remake anyways, it's a reboot as in, it's a new story in a new universe. Also, Ken Watanabe called to remind you he's in the film.
3. They Nolanized Godzilla:
Um, no they didn't. Godzilla started out dark and gritty in the 1954 film. Hell, that film was an allegory for the horrors of nuclear holocaust witnessed by a country that experienced it first hand and by US

It was one of those funny little revelations that creeps up on one over time. I think the first clue came when she decided to hibernate for the three winter months. At first it did not arouse my suspicions. After all I myself enjoyed a lie-in, and had once slept in three whole hours past the alarm - on a weekday! - so I did not think it particularly note-worthy when she tucked herself in at the start of December and remained there until late February. Still, it aroused in me some small seed of doubt - for I had never before known her to go even three days without tending to the garden, let alone three months.
Her taste in gardening was minimalist, and this I applauded; it may have been one of the reasons I married her, I forget now. Instead of the silly sentimentality of a lawn or a flower patch, she insisted that the entire garden was covered in soft fl
