Why I Love Wally WestHey, Flash fans! I know it's been quite a while (as usual), but I wanted to post an update having to do with something that's been on my mind for quite some time: Why I love the character of Wally West. Why I Love Wally West2 years ago in Personal More Like This
First and foremost: He is a dynamic character. From the time of his first appearance to right before Flashpoint, Wally West completely changed and developed as a character. From arrogant, womanizing jerk, to selfless family man who tries his best to not only save the people of his city, but also actively become friends with as many of them as humanly possible. Wally went through quite a lot during his speedster career, and every moment of it influenced him to become a better man, following in the footsteps of his mentor but also not living in his shadow.
Secondly: his relationships. Wally had a slew of different relationships throughout his time as The Flash and Kid Flash. His relationship with the Teen Titans was extremely memorable, having Dick Grayson as a best friend and even having

I had been thinking about doing something like this for a while. Outlining why I enjoy certain characters and who better to start out with than my favorite superheroine, Supergirl.
I feel slightly bad that I can't recall when I first learned of Supergirl's existence. After much thinking (and head pounding) my best guess is it was with the Superman: The Animated Series episode Little Girl Lost. Now before I was a Supergirl fan I was (still am but as I say, Kara is easier on the eyes lol) a Superman fan. I know people call him boring, a boy scout, but Superman is the archetype superhero. Personally, I like the idea of an absolute good guy hero so Supes always will be one of my favorite heroes. So as a much younger Mad Man (minus my pen though) I watched STAS and fed my growing love of the DCAU. Then we get to Little Girl Lost and I meet Supergirl.

I've been meaning to write this in some form or fashion for a while now. Orignally I was going to try to write it as a Cracked article (which I still may) but these are in my view among the most important things to remember when struggling to get into the comic business:
1. It's not just about how good you are. Comics are a highly competitve medium and everyone wants to get a shot at their favorite book. Many of the people trying to get that break have great skills, and i'm certain fine ideas. But can you meet a deadline? How well do you communicate your ideas or issues with your Editor/Writer/ Penciller/Inker? How reliable have you been on the books you've done in the past? How easy are you to work with?
Honestly most of these questions are more important in many ways than how talented you are. As an artist you are not an island unto yourself. Ask anyone whose been in the business how long it took them to get r
My Robin Williams storySince we're all sharing... MY ROBIN WILLIAMS memory is when I was working at the Disney/MGM studios Animation (Tour/Studio) in Florida and he came down to take a personal tour of our studio. (He was there for an event/publicity/vacation, can't remember). The tour part of our studio had a film called "Back to Neverland" that he was in and it taught how animation was done. It looped over and over all day long. He got a kick out of the fact that we had to hear him yelling and screaming all day long. At one point, I was shooting at the video animation set up and he came over to see what I was doing. I explained it and he couldn't stop looking at the tour of people going through on the other side of the glass. I explained that we looked at them as "moving wallpaper" an tried not to look at them directly. Not Robin. He was on stage and he immediately found a crazy hat to put on and was running around the place. Robin Williams exuded joy and its sad to hear it wasn't always in his heartMy Robin Williams story6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Robocop 2.0The Robocop reboot was one of the few acts of lazy plagiarism that I wasn’t really bothered by, and was in fact looking forward to.Robocop 2.01 year ago in Personal More Like This
“WHAAAT?!” I hear some cry. “You can’t mess with a classic!”
To them I ask: Have you watched the original recently?
Unlike, say, Ghostbusters (1984), the original Robocop has not aged well, mostly because it was a satire and satirical comedy/comedy based on popular culture tends to date very quickly.
Also, because of the limitations of special effects at the time: Peter Weller now looks decidedly goofy clomping around “future” Detroit in that clunky costume. I’ve no idea how restrictive it was, but I’ve a sneaking suspicion that he took the Anthony Daniels approach to playing a robot and made a point of moving like the Tin Man in a monsoon.
The reboot has ditched the satirical slant of the original and become a character-based drama. Those hoping for a repeat of the ‘87
Do Artists Matter?Do we matter?Do Artists Matter?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I'm specifically talking about "us" as designers, artists, or creative people. Do artists matter?
I have two personal stories that have helped me gauge and answer that question for myself. I hope they help you too.
(SIDE NOTE: I believe in a God and I believe that God loves me and leads my path but that I have free will and can turn from his leading and do my "own thing". Both of these stories have a TON of "God flavoring" that would make them much longer, so know that they are there if you want to read between the lines and find them. In short, both stories are answers to prayer.)
After 9/11 I felt worthless. Making cartoons just wasn't important in the new post 9/11 world. Firemen, policemen, construction workers, teachers, healthcare workers, architects- really, anyone that contributes to rebuilding our world and its infrastructure, those people had important jobs to do. Fiction. How redundant is it pointing out these following statements?Fiction.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
There's no such thing as a gigantic mechanical robot fighting off alien monsters. There has never been a report of a man being bitten by a radioactive spider and becoming a hero. You can't summon a mini-tornado at your own beck-n-call, don't matter how much into the occult you are. The odds of a young male teenager having a harem of sexy girls at his every turn is nil. There aren't bipeds of animals that are supposed to be quadrupeds flying spaceships in the galaxy above us. You can't legally hunt and catch thousands of different animals and use them to protect you from other animals and people in a sports-like venue. You can't eat a flower and ignite fire from your hands.
I can go on and on... this journal is probably being expressed because of recent built-up distaste for people bullying others because of what they like when it comes to fiction.
Just to reestablish what it even means, here it is, straight
My thoughts on the Disney Princess RedesignsSo this is what they looked like in marketing before the redesigns:My thoughts on the Disney Princess Redesigns2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So Disney Marketing decided to redesign the princesses, giving them a more modern look. They revealed most of them but mainly showed off Cinderella's redesign while the others were less shown or, like Pocahontas and Mulan, not even revealed yet. As 2013 began, they revealed all of their redesigns.
Here are the current Disney Princess looks:
And everyone is having a huge cow, not even look at the good points. As for me, I'm one of the few who love the redesigns. I will give my thoughts on each of the princesses' redesigns here like I did on tumblr:
I REALLY think she is so adorable here!! I love her cute wittle face and her cute side bow and just everything about her is so perfect! Nothing much has changed about her so she doesn't have a lot of complaints.
This redesign has the most complaints... And I really love it. I love the blue of her dress even though her dress was silver but t

5 Career Killers“Whatever happened to that guy? The guy that drew that thing?5 Career Killers3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Comic careers are like any other career in entertainment: if you don't stay relevant and adapt to a trend, you'll eventually peak and then bottom out. But there are more things that can help end a career. Here's a list of 5 that I've been thinking about lately.
1. SOCIAL MEDIA TAKE-DOWN
The creator does something that somehow goes viral, turning his (or her) readers against him. Bad behavior at a convention, sexual harassment online, or a semi-racist Tweet made worse by bumbling attempts to correct it. Or maybe the creator gets blamed for something innocent: innocent comments taken out of context, or involvement in a controversial project that he had no say over. Whatever the case, “social media take-downs” can harm careers, leaving a permanent black mark on your career.
I imagine this one is the most common: no matter how hard you work—and no matter how much a

Scammer- Josh HoopesThis is a bit of info for anyone who hasn't heard of Josh Hoopes.Scammer- Josh Hoopes2 years ago in Personal More Like This
He's been pulling the same scams for five years or more. He has many aliases and member names. He poses as a client to scam artists out of artwork and he poses as an artist to scam clients out of money. He sometimes impersonates well known comic artists such as Art Adams. He generally makes advertisements seeking for comic book art or replies to ads by offering to provide comic book art. He also steals concept art, game art and other types of art.
The information below is by no means complete. I'm posting it to warn clients and artists to be cautious when dealing with business partners online. Break large projects into smaller milestones and start with small payments to test the reliability of the other party. Be polite but careful. Establish a good web reputation by maintaining a website and profile for a long period of time. On DA, new profiles, profiles with hidden comments and hidden history or no galler
Simple Life Drawing tipHey all,Simple Life Drawing tip1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Through helping students at CDA, one thing that I see a lot of is the tendency to just draw when the model poses.
To be honest you will get less done drawing this way. It's also important to learn how to sharpen your pencil properly.
When the model poses, take about 30 seconds and observe. If you've been practicing your mental manikin then this will
be easier. Starting with what is the model doing? Which way is the head oriented? Which shoulders is higher? Where
is the pinch and stretch side? Etc...
Doing this gives you a battle plan, even before you make a mark on your drawing pad. You'll be surprised at how much more
you edit your marks when you start putting down lines. Remember that even before you get likeness, lighting, form, etc.
your base lay in should be clear. Meaning that anyone who looks at it should be able to tell what's going on.
There will be examples of this soon and also in the BAD drawing notes book
Book 2 for later this year? + MORE!At a Nick Animation press event, some news more news was released about various nickelodeon animated shows including The Legend of Korra.Book 2 for later this year? + MORE!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Unfortunately, nothing much was released save for that the date was coming later this year, and an exclusive clip (I'm hoping somebody will upload it somewhere, if anybody finds it please link in the comments!)
While this isn't much news, keep in mind that the last time we got a year date it wasn't actually so far away from the actual date. Even so, "later this year" could even still refer to as late as next fall, or even winter. Still, it's nice to know it's coming this year!
"Exclusive clip?" Yeah, you read that right!
I've been looking for that clip for a wile now, and nothing :/. All i found was a description of said exclusive clip...
The sequence we saw found Korra battling one of these spirits, initially just seen as dark tentacles, surrounded by
The Turtles TrailerI am absolutely delighted with it. It’s everything I hoped it would be: Terrible. The Turtles Trailer10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Had it looked GOOD, there would have been this nagging feeling that I’d be missing out on something if I stuck to my vow of never again watching another Michael Bay movie. I have fond childhood memories of the Turtles, so I may have weakened. But because it looks like, well, a Michael Bay movie, that feeling simply isn’t there. I have no desire, at all, to pay for or sit through that film.
Transformers 3 was the last chance I was willing to give. I thought “There’s no way it could actually be WORSE than Transformers 2. I’ll give it a shot”.
Somehow…. it was.
That was it. That was the breaking point. No more Bay. EVERYTHING he goes near is pure effluent, and all the evidence you need of how toxic a film Turtles is going to be is in that trailer.
Obviously, we don’t know what the plot is at this point, but it’s a

Well, (i think) the same guy that did the fan animation of Bolin and Eska now made a new animation, now about Korra, here is the amazing-ness:
It's so amazing to see the fandom is so devoted to the show, i mean, look a this! Look at all the fanart! It ='s hard that nickelodeon is making us wait so long for the premiere of Book 2, but for now, i think fan art is enough to fill the Korra withdraw some of us are going thru.
Keep the hard work fans! And lets be patient for next season! Bryke is in the last touches of it, i know it! Book 2 is almost here
