Oh, did you like that mountain Aulë? Was that your favorite mountain? Oh gosh I’m so sorry I promise I won’t knock down any of the others you painstakingly built up over the last eon WHOOPS THERE I GO AGAIN, BUTTERFINGERS.

Only one more page to go before I start a new arc and switch to a less time-consuming style! Telling a story at the speed of my coloring skills is just not going to get me through another six pages. *wobble*

I had a dream about the origins of Sauron/Mairon the Maiar, and his time spent in the service of Aulë the Smith. Now I am trying to put some of that dream-material into a comic.

I want to explore some of the empty margins in the history of these characters, simply because there is a lot about Middle Earth theology that frustrates me a great deal, and I feel like the motivations of a lot of the 'dark' characters are not explored in the books at all (or at least, not to my satisfaction). So this is my sort of self-indulgent, mini "Paradise Lost" for the Silmarillion. XD

I had in my mind that the little Teleri who was fishing was of the shore-dwelling Elves, and therefore their robe colour would change to something a little more water-y, or turquoise. The other Teleri is of Thingol’s host and still waiting, so he has the original colour. And the Nandor and Avari which also (mostly) stem from the Teleri also have different shades of green, denoting their status as “forest” and “dark” Elves. See? I think way too much about those things!

Actual quote:
Now Ossë followed after the host of Olwë, and when they were come to the Bay of Eldamar (which is Elvenhome) he called to them; and they knew his voice, and begged Ulmo to stay their voyage. And Ulmo granted their request, and at his bidding Ossë made fast the island and rooted it to the foundations of the sea.

I think I now know what that crown is. It's the Fëanorean Idiot Ball.

Original quote:
But even in the hour of the death of Fëanor an embassy came to his sons from Morgoth, acknowledging defeat, and offering terms, even to the surrender of a Silmaril. Then Maedhros the tall, the eldest son, persuaded his brothers to feign to treat with Morgoth, and to meet his emissaries at the place appointed; but the Noldor had as little thought of faith as had he. Wherefore each embassy came with greater force than was agreed; but Morgoth sent the more, and there were Balrogs. Maedhros was ambushed, and all his company were slain; but he himself was taken alive by the command of Morgoth, and brought to Angband.

I had to explain the whole 'Saeros and Túrin-incident' to my friends who aren't Tolkien fans like me, and this is basically how I told it :'D. It sounded so hilarious that I decided to draw it, but it turned out a bit different on paper... Anyway, I used to hate Saeros when I was a kid, but lately I've started to like him :-D He is this fabulous elf who is very strict about beauty. Since he scolded Túrin about his messy essence, I pictured him being very concerned of his own appearance, and having a long, fabulous hair. -And of course he is very proud of it.
And yeah, Túrin is very grumpy. And yes, he has branches and stuff in his hair.

Hey gang!

A while back :iconbloodzilla-billy: had a cool idea involving drawings based around specific themes. Over time we realized there wasn't a lot of time to produce a ton of side art so it has been put on hold.

One of the themes was going to be LotR. So, here's a Gimli quickie I did a couple months ago. I like to think of it as a look for a new animated series, hehe.

Here are the others!:

I really wish Fëanor would stick around longer in the book. Those troll jokes just write themselves.

Original quote:
Then Fëanor laughed as one fey, and he cried: 'None and none! What I have left behind I count now no loss; needless baggage on the road it has proved. Let those that cursed my name, curse me still, and whine their way back to the cages of the Valar! Let the ships burn!' Then Maedhros alone stood aside, but Fëanor caused fire to be set to the white ships of the Teleri. So in that place which was called Losgar at the outlet of the Firth of Drengist ended the fairest vessels that ever sailed the sea, in a great burning, bright and terrible. And Fingolfin and his people saw the light afar off, red beneath the clouds; and they knew that they were betrayed.
