"To raise money for charity, we're making an Artbook in which artists will be given the chance to draw a page (or double page) each. All profits raised will go directly to the RedKite, a foundation that works closely with children living with cancer, helping families financially in these tough times."
Ethereal-artbook is currently holding a contest where winning entries will be published in the artbook and will receive a free copy!
There will be four winners, each winner judged separately from the four categories available; green, blue, yellow and red
So what do we have to draw?

Take your art to higher lever in 4 simple steps!
For people who are serious about drawing and want to make career in art! And for me to stop getting questions on how to practice, or how do you get better
Are you stuck and don't know how to carry on making great art?
You just want to draw better?
If an answer to any of these questions is 'yes' then you might find this interesting...
Since the only thing I ever acknowledged myself good at is getting better I decided to share a couple of tricks.
I truly believe it works in every single case.
It's true. You can get out now or shut up and listen and get better.
(oh and do I need to mention that you need to draw a lot to get better?
I didn't draw a lot and still got better because I followed the steps listed below. But yeah, may not work without drawing a lot...)
Step 1. Honesty.
Be aware of your own limitations. They're usually bigger than you really think, despite what people say. I won't be talking about fals

I guess it is still in preproduction phase, fingers crossed for coming true
Update - here is the first video blog from the creators:
Update 11 XII 2013 - there will be no Storm over Gondolin, unfortunately The Tolkien Estate has forbidden making it - message form the filmmakers published at the projects fanpage at Facebook:

Advice for Aspiring Artists Pt. 3And now for the dramatic conclusion to the epic trilogy. Heroes will rise, bad habits will fall, in this last chapter we'll discuss how to focus your efforts and learn the most and improve quickly with your studies. WISDOM NUMBER THREE!!! Work smart and leave your comfort zone. This part is my qualifier for art school, tutorials, and educational resources in general, because they can be good, but only if you make them good. Once you've gotten in to the habit of drawing consistently, it's important to start being mindful of what you're drawing, how you're drawing it, and why you're drawing it. A key ingredient of success is hard work, but if that work isn't purposeful it might not move you
Advice for Aspiring Artists Pt. 2Here's the continuation of yesterday's journal discussing the importance of hard work. If you missed it, click here!Advice for Aspiring Artists Pt. 22 years ago in Personal More Like This
In part two I'm gonna talk about one of the biggest roadblocks I hear from artists who are having difficulty getting in to good study habits, so without further ado...
WISDOM NUMBER TWO!! Don't wait for perfect weather and stop making excuses. So often I hear things like "I don't want to waste paper" or "I don't know what to draw" or "I haven't found a good tutorial" or "I don't want to study perspective" or any number of things along those lines. I'll be blunt and just put the answer out there now: get over it. If you want to be an artist, you have to do the work, end of story. And with all the time you've spent thinking, wondering, being uncertain, and searching for that magical art secret of power, you could have filled 10 pages in your sketchbook today and inc
Advice for Aspiring Artists Pt. 1So this has been on my mind a bit lately and I was just struck with the sudden urge to write about it. It's a bit long so I've broken it in to three parts, but if you're a beginning artist I would recommend reading through it, it might just get you aimed in the right direction.Advice for Aspiring Artists Pt. 12 years ago in Personal More Like This
This started a couple days ago when I was trolling facebook and someone had posted some artwork, and one of the comments was something along the lines of "Nice! What tutorial did you use for this?" which prompted an immediate and violent facedesk on my part. I hear things like this all the time and would like to help dispel some myths about learning art; so after 9 years of drawing and 3 years of hardcore education and study, here's what I've learned about how to get better at art:
WISDOM NUMBER ONE! Getting better demands consistent, hard work. That's it. That's the magical secret that great artists never seem to get to in their tutorials; it's that one pivotal thing that makes the difference between

How to price your artwork for freelance workFor a while now I have been giving pricing suggestions to artists in the projects forum. I've had many requests and given a lot of advice. It is getting to the point where there is so much demand that I just can't keep up on the reviews, so I thought I might lessen the burden a little and help you learn how to price your own artwork. How to price your artwork for freelance work4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The problem with pricing your own work is that your opinion is not objective. You may think that your art is better or worse than it actually is. This is normal, but to get the best evaluation of your art you should ask for help outside your immediate family and friends. Remember, the project forum is intended for this very purpose. After following all the steps outlined in this article I implore you to make a thread in the project forum asking if your pricing assessment is accurate. For example "Is my art worth $XX USD?" would be an appropriate title for your thread and would hel

Frequently Asked QuestionsHello to everyone who has recently watched me! I have been completely shocked by the positive response that my British animals have gotten in the past few hours, it means the absolute world to me that they have been enjoyed. Thank you to everyone who has favourited, commented or stopped by - it really is appreciated!Frequently Asked Questions3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It is going to take me quite some time to filter through all of the messages and many questions have been asked! I had some of the same questions several times and got asked some interesting ones at the craft faire I did this weekend. So, here is a little FAQ - just so I can answer everyone who took the time to ask
What is pyrography/How do you make your items?
Pyrography is the art of wood burning! I use a combination of a hot wire and a soldering iron to create my animals, mostly using tips that I have made myself. There are some truly incredible fire artists out there, many of them here on DA
When did you start woodburning and why?
My deviantART StoryIt has now been over 10 years since I first decided to join deviantART and little did I know then, this decision would end up forging my entire life and career. My deviantART Story11 months ago in Personal More Like This
I wish I remembered exactly how it all started, but I'm going to go with my best guess and say I heard about it from another student when I started college back when I had just turned 18. Up until then I had been using various art forums such as wcreplays.com, animex.com, sijun.com and cgsociety.org so the discovery of a portfolio website was a pretty cool thing.
I started posting on here and got moderate attention, I had been drawing for a long time at that point so my art was in a state where it was at least interesting to look at. If anything it was a fantastic place to get inspiration and look at art from amazingly talented artists.
It wasn't until I decided to color the line-art for the following piece that everything really started.

1. For each of the 20 first people answering this journal, I will put their avatar and the 3 deviations I like most from their gallery on the list!
2. If you're featured, you have to do the same in your journal, putting the tagger on the first place. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone!

Now I've got my own personal feelings about the site. To be blunt, it's an egotistical, bloated site and community with a stick so far up it's ass it might as well be a puppet. If you read their feelgood hullabaloo about DREAMFUEL (When i was 14 i made up a business and called it 'skydreamerstudios", i can't help but see the resemblance as one of the stupidest names out there) , you too can feel a looming sense of doom for the site a real sense of purpose in your bleak, meaningless lives of the great shadow that CA casts. Best not to let your eyes gaze upon it's majestic majesty.
I've been a member of the site for years and years. Barring a glitch that accidentally put me on the featured artists list at the top of the page back in 2008, and the relentless hounding I got from t
