Just a few days left to go! Get your entries in NOW!
A recent discovery of the very innovative idea from Alex Valentine on Four Line Long Poems has prompted a mini-revolution here on deviantART as 3wyl and I plotted and schemed to create something not dissimilar to SixWordStories. Thus, FourLinePoems was born! It's a group that's completely open to everyone and anyone who would like to join and the exciting news is that, with its launch, we are announcing the first Four Line Poem Competition!
Contest Open: 15th December 2012, Midnight PST.
Contest Close: 15th January 2013, Midnight PST.
Winners Announcement: After 1st February

The Literature Community ExperimentThis is a typical example of a Beccalicious shower pondering! The idea of this is to try and bring together as many people as possible all in one journal, but not for the sake of making a big number, but to encourage interaction and share useful tidbits. We often say the "literature community" has drifted apart over the past few years and this is just one attempt to try get people to come back together. It's a little hippy, perhaps a far-fetched idea, which is why I am calling it an "experiment". This could be successful and could be a complete fail- only you guys and your efforts can decide its fate! The Literature Community Experiment2 years ago in Literature Features More Like This

Seniority Announcements - January 2013Seniority Announcements - January 20132 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
This article marks the latest additions to the dizzy height of Senior members in our community. With just over 1000 deviants holding the highly saught after ` -- it's clearly a moment that deserves recognition.
So what does it take to become a Senior? That's a question many have asked and have never really been able to get a straight answer on. Some have gained Seniority as a thank you for their time spent as a Volunteer, or to recognise their contribution to a particular project or collaborative action. Some have gained Seniority because of their community spirit, providing help and assistance to many other deviants and taking time out to promote the work of others in the community.
Some people have received Seniority because of their artistic endevours, having a positive influence on their peers by sharing resources, providing constructive criticism and by being a voice that stands out above the many other

Can you spot the difference between and :icongladlikeplz
If you hover your mouse over it, you’ll see that the first is a link to a deviation (http://fav.me/d5judp5), while the second is an icon for a special type of account called a PLZ account.
PLZ accounts are deviantART accounts made for the sole reason of being an emoticon. Anyone can make these accounts. (For more information on making PLZ accounts, see this previous Project Educate journal http://fav.me/d3jjwiv.) The deviant chooses an account name that represents the image he/she wishes to display, and usually adds the phrase ‘PLZ’ at the end, so other deviants are aware that that account exists to be an emote (in the example above, the account name is “gladlikeplz”).
To use the PLZ account, you merely

"As Eitvys200 pointed out, at least 1 journal per month makes it to the top of the list and is about stealing art. Sometimes this is something small such as posting a piece to facebook, other times you see hoards of pieces on a website selling wallpapers or something similar. Regardless of how it happens, or where, it can hurt just as much to see your hard work disregarded and especially someone else profiting or taking credit.
Protecting work is a huge deal for some people, and not for others. It depends entirely on your outlook - how you view your work and indeed whether or not there needs to be some constrictions on it due to the content being a child, or family member. But how do we protect our work properly from art theft and wrongful use? The simple answer is you can't provide for every eventuality. Even if you upload your work to a website where right click -> copy is disabled,

dA Life #08: Hosting a Contest on dAWelcome to the eighth dA Life blog, a series created to help you enjoy your time on dA and use it's many tools for sharing your art, appreciating other people's art and taking part in the wonderful community that we have here.dA Life #08: Hosting a Contest on dA2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Hosting a contest on dA is a really fun way to inspire other artists and do something positive for the community. If you've never run a contest before, it can seem like a daunting task so to make it a little easier, here are some things to consider before you create your contest and open it to the deviant public...
Your contest should have a theme. It can be as vague (Aliens, Summer, Cats) or as specific as you like (Alien Cats in Summer). When choosing your theme, take time to consider it's appeal to your potential entrants. A less specific theme is likely to attact more people as the scope for entries is wider. It depends on whether or not you want your contest to be huge - sometimes, bigger isn't always bet
Urbex #2Urban Exploration is the exploration of man-made structures. This series of articles aims to highlight exactly what Urban Exploration is, how it's achieved and the some of the best Urbex Photographers here on deviantART.Urbex #22 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The internet has provided Urban explorers with many opportunities to garner news of new locations, the best places to go to 'urban explore' and what to avoid. Additionally social media means that we can share places that others will never see, and never hoped to see until the introduction of the internet and the ease with which we can communicate. So as this series goes on, we're going to look at some of the top Urban Exploration websites, at the current time, online. Contamination Zone is dedicated to Photographing Urban Decay across the United Kingdom. As far as urbex sites go, i

Texture Your World ContestTell us the story of your world in textures!Texture Your World Contest2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
We are surrounded 24 hours a day by objects that have texture, they may be smooth or bobbly, old or new, bold, bright, shiny or dull. You might see a texture every day and never notice it until you start looking. Do you sit at a desk that's textured, or pass an interesting tree on the way to work or school?
We want you, in the form of a triptych (thats 3 images forming a larger image see example here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych ) to tell us the story of your textured world. Each individual texture should stand on its own, both as a useful resource and as a cohesive part of the whole story. What story you tell through your texture triptych is up to you - but they must be textures that tell a story of your world in some way.
There are 3 categories for this contest, each of which you can submit to twice.
These are textures created digitally by
Remember Remember, The 5th of November...I always remember the 5th of November. It's my Mother's Birthday. Across the country people light bonfires and set off fireworks...but that's for a completely different event! The 5th of November is collectively known as Bonfire night, or Guy Fawkes night. We celebrate today, something that occurred back in 1605. Guy Fawkes, a member of the gun powder plot, was arrested whilst guarding explosives that the plotters had placed beneath the house of Lords. Perhaps if he hadn't been, the country would have been a different place today, maybe not. Who knows! But regardless, we celebrate the fact that way back then King James I survived the attempt on his life. Today, the 5th is an annual public day of thanksgiving.Remember Remember, The 5th of November...2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
In Britain, we celebrate by building bonfires and throwing 'guy fawkes' dummys on top of them. It sounds barbaric, to an outsider it probably is, but actually it's a great time of year in which old and young alike celebrate together. Autumn just makes it that mu

We're looking for game players to come and join in our deviantART Birthday Event! In just a short while 3wyl and myself are hosting an interpretation of a British game show called Pointless. The idea of the game is that you have to guess the least popular answer to a multiple answers question. You will be awarded points accordingly, those with the most points will win - but you will have used pointless answers to get there!
We'll have pre-judged the least popular and most popular answers by asking a panel of CVs beforehand for their responses. Want an example?
Name a Film Starring Tom Cruise
Okay so Mission Impossible is a really high answer and if you said that one, you'd get lots of points. Which isn't good! If you said Rain Man - you'd possibly be getting less points. But if you said something like Endless Love or Taps, then you'd be hitting on an answer tha
