Girls and guys, this week in The Line it is Drawn, we pay homage to the Venture Bros cartoon series. I've just watched a couple episodes due to the assignment, and they're actually quite fun, worthy of the hype. Samson is this macho killing-machine, so the suggestion of pairing him with J. Scott Campbell's spy trio was a no-brainer. Plus, I love me Danger Girls.

Full gallery here, and my fellow liners are quite the connosieurs:

Girls and boys, a little late... this was the theme last week at The Line it is Drawn. I kinda drew it with a few hours to spare before the second big trip of the year, to La Mole (we survived). I'm pretty sure this crossover happened sometime. I don't think it quite worked like this. Full gallery here:

For The Line is Drawn this week we were doing Jonah Hex tributes. Not only did I get to draw Jonah Hex, The Rocketeer, AND Nazis, but I threw Indiana Jones in there for fun. Cause he's awesome.

The Line It Is Drawn #93: Cross-Company Team-Ups! The suggestion I picked was Batman & The Rocketeer. I combined this with a suggestion from back in January of the Rocketeer fighting the Red Skull. I always thought it was a neat idea but I never got to draw it until now.

I'm pretty happy with how the drawing on this one turned out. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to color it. Keep an eye on here my Deviant Art page for the color version!

(BTW, if you ever want to be put in your place, artistically-speaking, looking at Dave Stevens and Jack Kirby art for reference will certainly do the trick. :) MAN, those guys were good!)

Special thanks to Todd Klein for the Golden Age Batman logo from Batman #11. If you're on Facebook, be sure to check out his Logo of the Day feature, with tons of great comic book logos: [link] Or check out his website here: [link]

6/8/12 UPDATE: This piece is apparently starting to make the rounds on Tumblr, too: [link]

Thank you, Happy Sorceress, whomever you are! :)

The Line It Is Drawn #91: Jonah Hex with the Gotham by Gaslight Batman! In honor of comic book artist & Jonah Hex co-creator Tony DeZuniga, it's Jonah Hex theme week at the Line It Is Drawn!

I chose the suggestion to team up Hex with the Gotham by Gaslight Batman. Once I had that, I knew I had to have Hex meet his modern day DCU counterpart, Two-Face!

I decided to use the old, haggard-looking Jonah Hex as he appeared in the Batman: The Animated series episode "Showdown", which took place in 1883, just 6 years before Gotham by Gaslight. And for Two-Face, I decide to emulate the Jack Burnley version, since for my money, that's the best the character has ever looked. Check out Burnley's terrific Two-Face here: [link]

GREAT fun doing this one. This was one of those times when the drawing went very easily and everything came out the way I wanted it to. Very nice change of pace after all the frustration the Galactus/Planetary illustration gave me last week. Can YOU spot the obscure Jonah Hex reference I snuck into the background?

The Line It Is Drawn #81: In honor of Ralph McQuarrie, the concept artist for Star Wars who passed away a few days ago, this will be a Star Wars week. Team-up or mash-up Star Wars characters with comic book characters! I selected Greedo vs. the Punisher in the Creature Cantina.
