My favorite ART suppliesI get asked a lot what pens and pencils I use. So I thought I'd post an updated list of my favorites. I'm a big fan of trying new things, I'm always buying lots of different pens to try out and in my search for the best tools to use for creating comics Ive found these to work the best for my needs. My favorite ART supplies2 years ago in Personal More Like This
My number one question that others ask me is "What do you ink with?"
I use Kuretake brush pens. Here's a link to a sable hair brush pen that I love, it's the closest thing to a real brush I've used. It is pricey though. http://www.jetpens.com/Kuretake-No.-40-Fountain-Hair-Brush-Pen-Sable-Hair-Refill/pd/3958
The less expensive version is the synthetic hair, http://www.jetpens.com/Kuretake-No.-13-Fountain-Hair-Brush-Pen-Red-Body/pd/2661 this brush pen is similar to a Pentel brush pen. http://www.jetpens.com/Pentel-Pocket-Brush-Pen-for-Calligraphy/pd/1793
The cool thing about these Kuretake brush pens is the refill cartridges have nice ink in them that I use, but if you find you don't like the
Tools of the TradeHey guys. I figured I'd go ahead and do a FAQ journal entry. Just a basic list of the tools I'm currently using for my marker work. I have a new tutorial for my markers that I'll post when I'm able to share the art I used for the progress shots. Feel free to fire away with any questions and hopefully, this can be a go to guide for basic info on my tools. I'm not going to talk about oil painting materials as I'm still figuring all that out and I doubt an answer I give today will hold up in the future.Tools of the Trade1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Ok Here goes...
Markers: Prismacolor Cool and French grey markers. I think "Copic" has become another word for "marker" these days, so it's assumed that I'm using Copics for all of my work, but I actually use Prismacolor for all of my figures and detail work and only use Copic markers for backgrounds. I use to use "Warm" greys but I like the sepia look of French more now. I also occasionally use Copic color markers when I'm doing a full color marker piece. Why do I like Prismacolor markers
I'd buy that for a dollar. In my last journal entry, I brought to your attention Australia's flying cluster of nipples.I'd buy that for a dollar.10 months ago in Personal More Like This

TOME Episode 10 and Soundtrack RELEASED!!Phew, made it...TOME Episode 10 and Soundtrack RELEASED!!3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Finally released TOME Episode 10, the season finale, to the official website this week. It was a super nerve-wracking experience I've never felt before with putting out cartoons I've worked on. This Episode, more than any other in the series, was extremely personal for me. I likened the feeling of uploading it to the type of vulnerability you'd feel if you were naked in front of a giant crowd of people, filled with all your peers and colleagues...yeah, it was THAT kind of nerve-wracking. Nevertheless, I made it and it was worth it.
So with that said, the next thing I wanna do is thank everybody; everyone who worked on the show these past 10 Episodes and made it happen, to everyone who watched the show and stuck with me. You're all a LOT more than I deserve and I hope at the very least I delivered something that was enjoyable and of quality. It was a rough ride the last two years doing

Let's ruin it.
Despite being a story of people who usually make it, The Walking Dead comics aren't that positively oriented. What's positive about a world full of mindless brain-eating zombies with very few living healthy humans left? (Don't answer, I know that for some of you it's a paradise). Come and take a closer look at these comics from a diffrent way than usual.
The basics. The Walking Dead is a black and white monthly comic book series, written by Robert Kirkman and brought to its visual life by Tony Moore. These two guys are the creators of the serie, however, Tony Moore was replaced from issue #7 by Charlie Adlard (which didn't stop him from making the covers through issue #24). And, of course, there's also Cliff Rathburn, who's

Google Maps had a Wikipedia layer that brought up links to Wikipedia articles connected to the region you were surveying. It was a brilliant way to learn about locations you have not yet visited, or to delve into an area's history.
A week or so ago, and apparently with no warning, Google removed this function and have now been flooded with complaints.
Is it just me or are big name companies growing increasingly incapable of doing ANYTHING right?

Since my last update, a whole lot of new content has come out! Back in the middle of October, our 6th short "The Legend of Nylocke" released.
...then, on Halloween, The Game Theorists released the HD-Remastered version of >TOME Episode 02: Mansion Midnight! The first two episodes have hit well over 100,000 views on the Game Theorists channel now, which is fantastic!
Last and most importantly, the long-awaited Episode 09: Gemini Tournament Yang was released just one week ago!
Major thanks as always to everyone that helped make these videos happen. After well over 2 solid years of doing this show, I'm proud of the folk who've stu

It’s also been hinted that other familiar faces from the Batman universe will either appear or be referenced.
First concern at this news is that they’re moving too fast. WB are looking enviously at the cash-cow that is The Avengers and are force feeding their own franchise all manner of unhealthy things in an effort to hasten its development.
If they don’t devote the same amount of time to character development as the Marvel films did, the general movie-going audience isn’t going to have a real desire to see a JLA flick as they will simply feel no connection to the characters.
Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America. There were 5 movies before we got to Avengers. It made people invest in the universe that was being presented.

Rockstar do it again......regrettably.Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare was fun. Lots of fun. It was also, obviously, a total fluke, because the main Red Dead game was irritating, LA Noir felt dull and empty, GTA 4 was a chore to play and now GTA 5 is loaded with even more trademark Rockstar rage-quit-inducing pleasantries.Rockstar do it again......regrettably.5 months ago in Personal More Like This
With that track record, you'd think a person of (at least) average intelligence, like me, would have steered clear of the game.
I did not.
Lets see what I've done in San Andreas today: I've not shot any Elk because of the insta-death mountain lions, I've driven off a foot high cliff and exploded in a manner that would suggest the chassis of crappy rust bucket I was driving had been crafted from uranium, I've been knocked over in the road and then continuously mown down by other vehicles until dead, I've watched the player-character casually start walking around a vehicle to enter it despite the urgency implied by both my hammering of the control pad and the sh*tloa

Sexiest Female Game Characters (in my opinion)Compiled for no real reason other than that I felt like making a list. Might do some fan art, tooSexiest Female Game Characters (in my opinion)2 weeks ago in Personal More Like This
List is in order of appearance:
Princess Daphne (Dragon’s Lair, 1983)
Daphne is a cliché, blonde damsel in distress, yes, but she’s a cliché, blonde damsel in distress that was animated by Don Bluth, who had a stack of Playboy magazines on hand while he was drawing her.
Tyris Flare (Golden Axe, 1989)
Like a Frank Frazetta pic come to life….and then dressed in a bright white bikini by the Censors.
Also: That 360 game of hers really wasn’t that bad.
Blaze Fielding (Streets of Rage 2, 1992)
At some point between Streets of Rage 1 and Streets of Rage 2, Blaze must have washed her costume at the wrong temperature, because there’s a lot less of it. The horror.
Cammy (Super Street Fighter 2, 1993)
Chun Li had legs. Cammy has LEEEEEGS. And a perpetual wedgie.
Felicia (Darkstalkers, 1994)
C’mon. It’s me.

this man is a storyteller at heart. his cmic is an intense one, really cool and i recommend it it is available for preorder, a voice in the dark. it is out in november. i don't usually promote stuf, rarely even my own, but i want to promote this because this man deserves it!
so stop looking for excuses, stop trying to find reasons why it cant be done, start working on ways to get it done.

When someone's work is better...Suppose you're an artist... or some craftsman. You can do stuff. And you're pretty confident with your skills. You have people to prove it. You have clients. Now, imagine you see the work that's better than yours... x10 better, x100 better, infinity times better. What do you feel?
Anxiety, jealousy, depression? ...or maybe inspiration, respect and enlightenment?
The recent one for me was a cold shower feel. Everyone is better. F*ck! Even the monkey can draw better stuff!
It's a hard pill to swallow really. Your confidence is shattered. You don't feel the same anymore. Surprisingly enough after a few days you're back on track. Let's kick some ass, yeah!
I have been through this cycle many times. The details and feelings may vary but you've ups and downs like sine wave. The trick is to get out of 'downs' as soon as possible. Don't let them persuade you. Climb up.

No Excuses: I'm not Motivated...So you're not motivated to peruse your dreams? You want to make comics, but you just don't have any motivation, so you're just going to sit there and wish you were a comic creator instead? I'm going to be honest, this one makes me mad. What motivation do you need? What do you need more than: "I'll be doing what I love for a living," or "I'll bring something I created to life and share it with the world."No Excuses: I'm not Motivated...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I'm serious when I say this one baffles me. I mean I understand that making comics is very hard. It's time consuming, and takes alot of skill to pull off well. So I understand how it's a daunting task. So when you use the excuse "I'm not motivated." Do you mean you're not motivated to bring your creations to life, or do you mean you're not motivated to work hard? Are you essentially admitting that you're lazy, and more content complaining about how you want to do something instead of actually working to achieve it?
Well if it's because you are lazy and don't want to work hard
Anime: home of the arsehole.I can list a whole range of eastern-born cartoons that I think look absolutely gorgeous, and whose visual style I wish very much that I could emulate.Anime: home of the arsehole.10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Only a handful of those, however, can I refer to as being "good". Or even "tolerable".
Having watched them for most of my life, going back to things like Mysterious Cities of Gold and the original Astro Boy, I can say with a certain degree of authority that: Japanese storytelling is a bit wank. Daring and dynamic visuals, sure. Crap narrative.
And it can't ALL be blamed on "bad translation".
There's a wide range of gripes to be had, but chief among them these days is that the major characters, those who one would assume you're to root for, across however many episodes the series consists of, are generally complete and utter dicks.
I'm currently wading through Gurren Lagann, a series which people have raved about for a while but which I'd not had the chance to watch until now (spoiler approaching, should you be in the same boat).
