My entry for this contest. I remember when I was little there were many times where I would dream this creature with many arms and eye come out from the floor a. It used to scared the shit out of me.

"out of the corner of your eye"

nothing scares me more than my own peripheral vision...

excited to have this contest judged my Guillermo Del Toro, who I admire and respect very much. saw the other entries and there's some great stuff, thought I'd try something subtle...

thanks for looking

darkness is cancer of the imagination.
it can mutate into anything. nothing is more frightening than that which the imagination can conjure.

sometimes the dark is enough to be afraid of..

Here is my submission for the MAMA contest. I have always been very afraid of sweet docile things becoming evil and twisted. Also, I have always found basements to be very eerie, they still creep me out.

This illustration is based on the legend of the "Old Hag" who is purported to immobilize you while you are asleep and not allow you to breathe. I heard about this legend when I was a kid, and it terrified me.

When I was about 11, I watched Princess Mononoke with a couple friends one day.

While the film was brilliant, the nightmares that ensued were vivid beyond belief. I envisioned a nebulous, formless being that would imitate children before consuming their small, corporeal frames. It would refer to itself ironically as the Never-morph.

Despite the gruesome being plaguing my thoughts for a month or so, I was able to reproduce it for this contest. Hope you enjoy.
