The DarknessThe Darkness6 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
The world is such a scary place;
Reality is a nightmare...
Darkness surrounds us,
And threatens to destroy
Everything we love.
If we don't have support in life,
We might as well quit.
It's pointless.
Everyone has to face the darkness;
Together.
Maybe then,
The darkness will go away,
Leave us alone,
And light will return...
But if we don't,
The chaos and fear
Will consume everything,
And the world we know
Will shatter.
Please don't leave me
To face the darkness
On my own.
Because I can't-
Not without you.

Is is the barn or me?Is is the barn or me?1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
Is it the barn or is it me,
that misses the way it used to be,
the way my uncle and father used to store hay?
Is it the barn or is it me?
Is it the barn or is it me,
that is missing the cows, the animals
and how alive it used to be?
Is it the barn or is it me?
Is it the barn or is it me,
that desire to see the children running about
and the games they used to play?
Is it the barn or is it me?
Is it the barn or is it me,
who misses my grandather
and the the way it used to be?
Is it the barn or is it me?

The Winter GiftThe Winter Gift1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This
There once was a young woman named Lucretia who didn't fit in well with the people of her village. She loved to wander the woods by herself and sing. She also had a tendency to talk to herself and she wasn't good at weaving or cooking or any of the other skills that were valued in a woman, so she was often called an oddity and people would treat her as such. She acted as if this didn't bother her but she could never shake the feeling of being alone and unloved. On one winter's day, Zeus was traveling though the skies when he heard a sweet, haunting sound. It was a woman singing.
"I must find the owner of that voice." He whispered enchanted

Dislocated ShoulderAll I've ever been to youDislocated Shoulder4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
is a shoulder to cry on
someone who will listen
when you need someone to talk to
but human? certainly not
a friend? don't make me laugh
I am the freak
who you can pour your secrets out to
rationalizing to yourself that your secret is safe
"because really, who does she have to tell?"
Which is true.
For the last five years all I've known
is therapy poorly disguised as friendship
and the moment I open my lips
its costume splits at the seams
You've kept me up until 4am
you've pulled me out of school
just so I could help you
and everytime I try to do the same
my only response is
a cold shoulder

A thousand tongues of rain
Are licking window panes
Impatiently, in haste
The core of love to taste
Torrents run down the street
It feels so very sweet
To find the storm pulsate
In arms those are my fate
In each drop ocean gleams
You're drowning in my streams
And me, while cries the night
I give in to your tide

about a woman who's not afraid of wrapping her lips around a fork and swallowing without a thought of calories
she draws you in with the scent of spicy salsa and skin, and can laugh when you wipe the trickle at the side of her lips.
she doesn't overflow and break the boundaries for one person but she's not a twig waiting for the wind to snap her or blow her away.
she can stand on her own two feet
without the possibility of floating away into the sky.
there is something enticing
about a woman who is soft to your touch and doesn't try to slice your fingers with knives for hipbones.

Odd thoughts leaping
Just little wisps
Not even really there
But known all the same
Sing little thoughts
Loud and clear
For everyone to hear
Let's play a tune
Let's sound the drums
And start the dance
Find a way to fly out of the mind
And out into the world
Dreams becoming real
And odd thoughts playing
It's all the norm to me.

Blackened night calls out in tears
my empty harbor seeks you
The night screams your loneliness
beckoning you to come to me
My light pours into the sky
filtering specks of crimson across clouds
The wind whispers and pleads your ears
to hear the sweet sound of refuge
slivers of light flicker salvation
Sails whip and crack in the fury that plunges
deep into the fabric of determination
Waves pound and crash engulfing hope
yet this vessel seeks to be lonely no more
Come into my harbor
Let me lead the way
We shall dance on the water
and let the sun tickle our souls
Our hearts shall sing
eyes will tell tales of a journey to forever

Affection for solitudeI am looking at my little patch of sky;Affection for solitude2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It's darkening,
The colours are being washed out
By the wind
That blows around me,
Its fingers guiding my steps
Through the upcoming night.
I do not feel alone,
Though alone I might seem,
The stars are my companions
And the wind embraces me.
Silence is compassionate
And lets my thoughts become my own;
They are now calm and free.
I pass by the windows and doors
That people unknown to me call home.
But tonight
I do not belong in any of those,
I am closer to the sky
Than the earth crumbling
Beneath my feet.
I do not believe
I'll learn anything new
By the coming dawn,
But I do hop

To actually believe that happiness could stifle creativity
Perhaps I never felt true happiness before this moment
Could it have been that I blindly believed that what I was feeling was a feature of bliss?
It seems silly
But far from unreasonable
After all, if that wasn't the truth

As we sway
I wonder where we belong
As your feet guide me
Decidedly
Delicately, in fact
I know it is moments like these
that follow
and haunt death beds
Will it be your eyes
your voice
or perhaps it will be your laughter
That trickles in those last precious moments?

Your DaughterI am your daughter.Your Daughter2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I wonder when school will be out so I can see you.
I hear you snore at night.
I want school to be shorter and you not to go to work.
I am your daughter.
I pretend to be like you all the time.
I feel happy when you smile at my jokes.
I touch you when I give you a hug.
I worry when you get hurt.
I cry when I miss you.
I am your daughter.
I understand when you say you can't play, you have to work.
I say good-bye to you when I leave for school.
I dream that the next day will be a wonderful day again.
I try to do my homework better than ever.
I hope I can be like you when I grow up.
I am your daughter.
