(Modern AU Jarida): Truth or Dare
Summary: After a game of truth or dare, Merida does the impossible. She is now forced to go on a date with the person she hates most, discovering newfound feelings along the way that may forever change their fate.
Truth or Dare—that’s how it all started.
Merida was faced with a ultimatum between both—and knowing it was at the hands of the one and only Jack Overland—made it all that more terrifying. She stared at the bottle that was pointing at her, forcing her to choose her fate. Knowing Jack, he wasn’t going to make this easy on her. The smug look on his face told her that he already had something planned. Rapunzel, Hiccup, and most of their friends waited in anticipation.
“Have you decided yet, Slingshot?” he asked her, obviously amused towards her dilemma.
She gritted her teeth at him. “ Hauld yer horses!” she demanded.
“Oh come on, we al

A little redhead pulled back the string of her brand new bow.
She notched the wooden arrow, shooting straight and true,
Directly into the thicket, leaving the bushes askew.
There she wandered; searching for her prize,
Unaware she had caught the attention of a certain winter sprite.
Jack flew down to watch her, his hand on the staff he grasped,
And recoiled with surprise when she looked in his eyes and gasped.
"Jack Frost." She whispered, baby blue eyes filled with awe,
And grabbing her lost arrow, from the woods she did withdraw.
Merida ran back to her parents, ginger mane flying in the wind,
Practically jumping with excitement, she slowed to a stop and grinned.
"I saw him!" She exclaimed, "I did, I really did!"
"Who did you see?" Elinor asked, her tone lighthearted.
"Jack Frost!" The little girl answered, her voice overjoyed.
Her mother laughed as her father frowned, very much annoyed.
"Those are old wives' tales." Fergus

Ch1 The Boy from Berk
It was a sunny day in the Highlands of Scotland with a cool breeze coming off the ocean which was calm that day. Above it the blue sky was dotted with only a few clouds when suddenly a black streak shot by, the black streak turned out to be a dragon. The dragon was jet black in color, obviously a Night Fury, with greenish-yellow eyes. What was different from most dragons was he had a mechanical fin on his tail that seemed to be attached to a saddle he was wearing on his back and there was a boy sitting on the saddle. The boy had dark auburn hair with green eyes and was wearing dark green pants, a green tunic that went to his mid-thigh, a brown belt where there looked to be a small knife, and a riding vest. The thing that stood out on him was that while he had a typical Viking-style boot on his right foot his left was a spring-loaded prosthetic leg that fit into the stirrup on the dragon's saddle. His name was Hiccup, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III to be precise, an

Summary: The gang decides to go to a ski resort for a weekend, and with Jack and Merida there, things could never go as planned.
Merida struggled to step through the snow with her ski equipment on, complaining the whole time of how restricted she felt while wearing them. Everyone was already set off in pairs, waiting patiently for their lift to arrive. Obviously it had to be couples amongst their group of friends, only leaving her with one other person who wasn’t taken. She turned to the person in question, his grin indicating the fun he was about to have. This trip was proving to be a pain; it was bad enough that she didn’t even know how to ski; or ice skate; or even snowboard—everything about this weekend was against her element. Not for Jack though, he was a born natural for this stuff, and it annoyed her to no end.
They took a step forward after Hiccup and Astrid got on their lift, now waiting for Eep and Guy t

I walk further and further in to the woods, swerving under branches and jumping across small ditches. My eyes darting, in search of the place it all began.
After about thirteen minutes I reached the scene of the crime.
I bend over to pick up and study the remnants of the discarded bola...
"Dragons are meant to go for the kill So, why didn't you?" I mutter to myself.
I drop the bola and begin to press on in the direction it flew off. I drop into a rocky crevice and follow it to an isolated cove, complete with a pristine spring pool. I scan the high stone walls... then notice a single black scale on the ground. I crouch and pick it up, studying it.
"Well this was stupid." I grumble to myself.
Suddenly, the Night Fury blasts past him. Making me recoil, watching the massive beast struggle to climb the walls. It flaps violently, and then peels away to a rough landing. The dragon appears to be trapped.
I grin, excited to see it again, and slowly begin to slip closer. I w

Third Person P.O.V
Imagine this setting: We skim above a dark, wild ocean. Then we turn towards a lone island, its name, Berk. It is a gigantic shard of rock jutting straight out of the water. Our sight gazes over rolling hills to reveal a small village nestled on an outcropping of sea mounts.
This is Berk. Its twelve days North of hopeless and a few Degrees South of freezing to death. It's located solidly on the meridian of misery.
My village. In a word, sturdy. And it's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new.
We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problems are the pests. You see, most places have mice or mosquitos. We have...
I pull my wooden, splintering door wide open, and then slam it shut almost as quickly as I opened it. I lean against it as fire shoots through the slats of wood; I try my best to ignore how the wood is now going from warm to burning hot. I am certain that the fire is illuminating my gangly

Within moments I am like-
I push my wheeled contraption through a wall of clustered Vikings and Scotsmen. He weaves through the on-going mayhem, as fast as my legs can carry me.
A random Viking that I can't identify shouts after me."Hiccup, where are you going?!"
Another shouts, "Come back here!"
"I know. Be right back!" I shout back, after them.
On the plain below, the Nadders have cornered the house-full of sheep. They close in, ready to spring upon them. Stoick suddenly appears, hurling fishing nets over them. The Nadders are caught. Stoick and his men rush in. A Nadder blasts a hole through its net. Stoick leaps onto it, his thick arms around its head, forcing its jaws shut.
"Mind yourselves! The devils still have some juice in them." He bellows the order.
Whereas, on the plain above I have reached a cliff overlooking the smoking catapult and drop the handles to the ground. I crank several levers, unfolding and then cocking the bowed arms of my contraption. I d

I look down at my open notebook, which is easily readable now, since it has become late morning now, and take a look at my drawn map of the island, covered in X's. Hiccup looks up from it and peeks over a gorge, expectantly. I see absolutely nothing.
I add another 'X' to the page, then scratched my pencil over the whole map in frustration. I snap the book closed pocket it.
"Uggh, the gods hate me." I groan. "Some people lose their knife or their mug. No, not me. I manage to lose an entire dragon."
I my annoyance, I whack a low-hanging branch. Only to have it snap right back at me, hitting me in the face and leaving a stinging sensation on it. I look up to see a snapped tree. My eyes follow it to a long trench of up-turned earth. I follow it to a downed, black dragon, its body and tail entangled in a bola. It appears dead. I approach it, beaming.
"Oh wow. I did it. I did it." I say, obviously shocked. "This fixes everything!" I suddenly feel elated. "Yes!" I exclaim as I

"Wait." I said as I walked over to where he stood. "Take a deep breath and aim like this." I stood behind him and corrected his positioning gently. "Now, imagine all your anger is seeping into the arrow." I instructed him. "Let go." I whispered as he released the arrow. The arrow whizzed through the air and thumped hard against the center of the target. At the sight of the bull's eye my lips turned up in a smile and I grinned. "I knew you could do it."
"I should have listened to you the first time, right?" Jack murmured softly.
"Yes, you should have." I quipped quietly as I stepped backwards a

Alice stared longingly at the bottle, knowing it would grant her the one wish that she desired the most if she was to drink the purple liquid bubbling inside of it. She took the bottle, held it up closely to her beautiful face, blinking at the sight. "If..." she said quietly. "If I drink this, will... Will it take me home...?" The White Queen nodded slowly. "If that is what you wish," she said, rather uncomfortably.
Alice stared at it some more, then, sighing, slowly twisted off the black lid that was keeping the liquid from spilling out, and tossed it aside. She heard gasps of surprise, shock, and even disappointment.
She slowly turned around, only to see each and every one of her friends staring longingly at her. "Please

I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me grumpy cat, now when did
You last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride
A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming
A whole new No
A dulling place I don’t want to know
But when I’m way up here
It’s crystal clear
That I’m certain I do not want to be here with you
Very certain I do not want to be here with you
Boring, grumbling, wastin’ time,
Through an endless musical scene in the sky
A whole new No
Don’t you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things I wish to un-see
Hold your breath- it gets better
I’m not going to hold my breath
Why don’t you
I want to go back to where I used to be
A whole new world
Every turn I want to die
With new horizons to pursue

Merida's POV- just after Dawn. (I refuse to say 'Breaking Dawn')
I was sleeping peacefully, having a brilliant dream…
"C'mon Merida, you're so far behind me it's unbelievable!" I hear Hiccup shout from above me. We're back at Dun'Broch, I am riding on Angus through the forest, whereas Hiccup glides and soars through the sky on Toothless, laughing cheerfully… Something I don't think I have seen him do more than twice.
"I dun' think so, Hiccup! We're in my territory now!" I retort tauntingly as I laugh happily, running my fingers through Angus's silver-grey mane, smiling.
"Then you should know you're comin' to a dead-end now, princess! Sorry, but unless you can get through a solid mountain, it looks like I'm gon'na win!" He shouts back down. I smirk and refuse to reply. I slow Angus down to a hardly audible trot and direct him to the mountainside; Hiccup is too high up to notice the hollow part of the mountain the just a bit bigger in size and width of y
Ice Cream I could only breathe out of one side of my face and it hurt to swallow. I felt terrible and I looked even worse than I felt. Not even bothering to change out of my pyjamas, I slumped out of bed and downstairs. Luckily it was Saturday and my loud family had not risen from their slumbers. I opened the cabinet that held the cups and reached inside. I drew out a glass and filled it with water from the fridge in a sort of thirst driven haze. I raised the cool glass to my lips and relished the feeling of cool water trickling down and soothing my aching throat. There was a small ringing sound coming from my phone, alerting me of a new text message. Glass in hand, I drifted over to the phone and checked my messages.
