Biweekly feature vol.1Hello everyone, I'm very happy to present the very first of the many
feature journal. I'll be doing this every 2 weeks so this will allow the
feature art work to get a decent amount of views.
The feature journal is where I'll be posting some art works from artist
on DA that you guys suggested that don't have many views or favorites
and that deserve more. For the feature journal I have picked suggestions
for different category to make it more diverse.
Again, thank you allfor posting suggestions in my previous journal, sadly space is limited
so I will not be able to feature all the suggestions.
For the next feature,
If you have a piece from an artist that you really like and feel like
that they need some exposure, wither its photography, Crafting,
Painting, Drawings, etc please post below. Please make sure that they are
legit (not stolen art) and has below 1,000 faves.
without any more delay Lets get started : )
Honour Amongst Thieves ... Podcast?Let it never be said that Sak doesn't deliver!Honour Amongst Thieves ... Podcast?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last Sunday I had a Skype meeting with Brendan Julian and Richard Johnston - the voices of Louis and James respectively from my upcoming animation - to discuss the finer points of Honour Amongst Thieves. As promised, I managed to record it and so without further ado, I present to you:
Honour Amongst Thieves
I was delighted to see the two of them got along so well, because their character interaction promises to be great this way. Unfortunately, Santiago's VA was unable to make it due to timezones, but perhaps sometime in future we'll be able to repeat this again plus one Spaniard!
My thoughts...Firstly, as always I'd like to express my honest gratitude for all the comments I've received and as well, very important to know for me were about school/courses informations. I don't care if you read this or not but- thank you very much!My thoughts...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I would like to state how community flow is really important for me. No, not only for me but to many people. Just many people aren't aware of this.
I think the interactions between the artist and watchers - and whole community relationships thing - is one of the most vital parts that our creations exist. Writers have fans, travelers, artists, illustrators, companies, fashion bloggers etc. and so on. You may call it as a "fanbase", thus I prefer to not call because "fans" and "fanbase" has a lot of negative stereotypes and image about blindly screaming "minors". I'd prefer to name differently, because I do not view them as minors. Absolutely. I view them as an every worthy human on equal worth as the creator and that's a fact. They are just guests to

Every year is like a chapter of our lives.
The object of a new year is not a celebration of a new year, nor having a new number displaying in our callendar but it is where we should have a new soul.
To sit down and think over how to improve up our lives.
Also is not a day to cry out loudly how our past year was unsuccessful and impatiently wait when it will be over, start a new, but to learn who we are and how we can move forward.
I'm not here to wish a good New Year Eve since it's not the only day which will decide how our new year will be like… however what I truly wish you guys lots of joy for every day for this year, as well for next year- regardless what is the day or what's happening. Every day is a miracle and a proof of our existence.
Smile to yourself while looking at your image reflected by mirror and don't be shy to say "I love you" to yourself. And lots of love to all livings forms, animals and nature and less interest to mater

On December, a friend of mine, musher known as a legend, the great mentor to me has passed away, I traveled up to the mountains and went on mushing alone (skijoring: cross-country skiing + sled dog, it looks like that: http://i.pinger.pl/pgr221/0fa2234e000267884b460f96/justyna_kowalczyk_10.jpg but with a dog pulling you) with my leader Arnaq. Instead spending Christmas at cozy places, I've been very hardly training cross-country skiing (skate style) alone and with my dog as well. On that month I've been doing negatively physically as well mentally, especially that feeling of emptiness after losing someone where you will never see this person again- sport was absolutely to best thing to help myself to overthink many things and make me to stand on feet properly.
But other than sport by itself I did but that trip was kind of my personal memorial for that musher who passed away. In his name I went on mushing. For

I've noticed lately that I have a terrible habit.
I glance at paintings.
That's right, I merely glimpse at them. Sometimes I only take a short, shameful peek. My mouse click barely skips a beat as I hastily browse from one image to the next.
Granted, there's a lot of art to be seen, and quite frankly, most of it is probably not worth the value of time. That is as it should be. We can't expect to create great work until we've flooded the world with loads of mediocrity.
It takes an awful lot of tumbling to smooth a stone.
Yet, even the images that I feel are of exceptional quality, I may give them no more than a few seconds worth of my attention. 5-10 is probably my average. 15 seconds is really pushing it. If a work is truly inspirational, I may download it to my computer, so that I can continuously re-glance at it for seconds at a

I was on the train on my way to faraway mountains.
My phone was ringing.
An unexpected call.
All what I remember after picking up is hearing these words: "he passed away".
When you hear that someone close/important to you/you know/ect,, the time feels like has stopped. It becomes a feeling of eternity. That feeling is also similar to the feeling of love but it's on opposite side of mirror.
Someone very important for me has left our world today at the morning.
That feeling…. when you get a call that someone close to you got very ill or had car crash or was busted, you usually feel sad, so worried and have feeling of hope. Or you feel anger. That kind of anger like you want to blame society. Then you ask a lot of questions if everything will be alright with her or him. You feel many emotions from sadness, feeling sorry, being worried and anger. And so on
Schools/Courses (Important: to all USA residents)At the moment I won't write a full journal about it, with details, but I'm really looking forward for useful comments, suggestions and perhaps help. Yes, this time I'll be asking for you all guys for helpful advices- all of it will be about schools/colleges and education in general in USA- as potentially important step for my future. I never been to any school in states despite being a full USA citizen and it will be my first time- especially what my life has shown to me.Schools/Courses (Important: to all USA residents)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Which I've been planning for many years and I've lost chance due to my illness.
But for now, we'll start from this....
Has anyone been/experienced or even heard about Gnomon School of Visual Effects?
That's where I'm planning to attend, for one year Entertaiment design (pshh, yes secrectly i do a lot of digital art... just saying that I'm not absolute traditional.) and it's scheduled for 8th July.
However that doesn't mean I'll go on 100% for sure (the final decision of booking will come in springtime) but perh

Hmm, to talk about it would be easier in bullet points so let's get to that.
Infinite canvas, resolution, and dimension. It's all specialized textured vector so no matter how small you draw you can export it to a .psd or .jpg of ANY RESOLUTION AND ANY DIMENSION which is pretty fucking amazing and helps those people who can't handle heavy programs or preset resolutions like in SAI or Photoshop.
It's like drawing on paper. Like to me it's really forgiving paper. The select tool is pretty much like a canvas cropping device-- you select and then you can export the selected area as the cropped image. Otherwise it doesn't do nice things like resize, scale, or rotate. (Just yet anyway, I think they're still developing.) So it's a good practice tool.
It's really smooth and pleasant to draw

IT'S OKAY TO BE SAD OVER A CHARACTER DEATH. BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT THE REASON SOMEONE DIES IN MY COMIC IS BECAUSE THEY HAD FAINTED INGAME. BY THE RULES OF NUZLOCKE, FAINT EQUALS DEATH.
Seriously, I even posted my godamn battle notes in the video for comparision. It was not me purposely trying to kill off a character out of drama. It did happen and I am drawing a COMIC BASED OFF OF MY OWN GAMEPLAY. The reason it looks that way is because I was able to build his character up for over a year so you guys get attached to my characters. I wanted you guys to like them or at least know about them before some of them got killed ingame.
FYI, MORE DEATHS ARE COMING IN THIS COMIC. I cannot assure whether this will be right away or later, but KNOW of it. It's a godamn nuzlocke. As I said before, it is okay if you were legitimately sad about this. I'm sorry it had to go that way bu

If you are considering going into the industry....If you are an artist or want to be one, especially if you want to get into the VFX industry, you should watch this:If you are considering going into the industry....1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It touches on a few things I feel are important to understand as an artist and even as consumers of art:
1.) Art is not an exact science. It can be difficult to put a price tag on it, let alone the often very complicated processes of making it.
2.) Computers are tools that facilitate our work but they DO NOT do the work for us.
3.) Don't get into this industry for the money. If you go into this line of work, you do it because you love it. If someone happens to get lucky or has a really great idea and he/she hits it big, GREAT! Good for him/her. But don't go in expecting that to happen to you. Chances are it won't. If you are lucky, you will find a nice middleclass job you can support yourself and your family on for a while...... until....
4.) Unfortunately, a lot of employers see artists as disposable. When they no longer need you, they will kick you to the curb an

To find out more about this educational series, check out the Artists Toolbox Schedule over at projecteducate.
The hardest part of any craft is getting the right tools. You've gotta learn the language of the trade, and that means getting yourself familiar with what's needed where. Culinary arts in particular can be so overwhelming. Most sugar craft books will tell you you need a long list of expensive equipment they'll use to make one type of adornment never to be used again. This can suck a lot of beginners in to spending a fortune on equipment that's not essential. And cake decorating equipment is exorbitantly expensive. I can go buy some lustre dust and a couple of cutters required for one type of flower and kiss $100 goodbye, so knowing when to spend and when not to spend can save you a lot of pain.
I've been building up my

( Closed ! ) Big Feature Project !Hello everybody( Closed ! ) Big Feature Project !2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Since i almost reached 2000 watchers i wanted to do a watchers Feature, but i had another idea and i really hope that a lot of you will participate.
The concept behind the whole project is that you feature others and in return you will be featured by them.
So if 20 people participate you will be featured 20 times !
- everybody can participate !
- everybody that wants to participate has to write one Link of the Deviation that should be featured HERE
- you have to this journal
- please leave a comment on this journal so that i know that you want to participate
- everybody that wants to participate agrees to do a Feature at the End of the Project !
- for those that don't have the time to do a feature themselves i am going to provide a code that you just have to copy into your own journal
( but i would be happier if you take the time to create the Feature yourself )
- only one Deviation per p
How to be a good subject for your photographer! You should try to:How to be a good subject for your photographer!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
- Instantly listens to quick prompts / direction.
- Be open to any critique mid or after shoots!
- Have a decent understanding of what the photographer is looking at (light/framing)
- Pose naturally and (if in Cosplay) act in character .
- Be confident for the duration of the shoot.
- Avoid being self concious.
- Be aware of the direction of light (to avoid unflattering shadows, etc)
- Loosen up! Literally. Shake your limbs and relax your muscles from time to time.
- Avoid squinting. If the sun is too bright you will naturally squint. Close your eyes and ask the photographer to do a count down.
- Throw ideas at your photographer. Be creative.
So there you go.. If you want to make life incredibly easy for your photographer try and nail the above points.
While I'm shooting I need 100% trust from my subject. I also can't have anyone disagreeing with my requests however odd they are (unless I ask em to do something dangerous, lol).
This completely breaks my creative flow
