A Poem About WordsA Word on WordsA Poem About Words1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
I’ve never been very good with words.
I spend so much time searching for the right ones,
For that one perfect phrase to describe a feeling.
Slippery as a sunfish it incessantly escapes me,
Or gets hooked upon my lip.
It’s difficult to say what I mean,
Let alone mean what I say.
And words make it so much harder;
Ineffectual, impersonal and imprecise as they are.
I might say I love a steaming pot of tea in the morning,
Or a big cozy sweater on a winter’s day.
But sweaters and tea don’t quite add up to how I feel about you.
You might say a rose is pretty,
Or a sunset.
But I am hardly a flower or a sinking star.
I wish there were a way to pinpoint these feelings,
To let you know exactly what they are.
Instead I tread water futilely,
Drowning in the vagueness of language;
I simply choose silence.
Perhaps worst of all about words,
Is that they can lose their luster so devastatingly quickly.
I want meaning to permeate time; to last forever

"I think I'm going to claw my own eyes out, I'm so bored," Alari complained.
Midnight looked over from where she was leaping up at the ceiling of the den, snapping at roots and trying to pull them down.
"You should try this, Alari. It's kind of fun," she invited her friend.
Alari padded over and watched Midnight leap for the root again, her jaws snapping shut on air, her body falling back to the ground. Alari was highly unimpressed with this game, but gave it a try anyway.
Leaning low to the ground and bunching her muscles, then rocketing up at the root. When her face reached the ceiling she quickly snapped at the root, her teeth closing over it easily. Midnight laughed as she hung there by her teeth for a moment and then flopped to the ground when the root broke. The ceiling showered them all with a layer of light red dust. Midnight and Alari both doubled over in laughter while Bone paced nervously.

The sun was setting over the hills and the sky glowed pink. The last golden lights of the evening spilled over the forest floor, dappling the low growing foliage and bed of pine needles beneath. The honey light squeezed through a narrow crevice and into a small loamy wolf den.
There were three of the animals within two adults and a small pup. The adults lay still, sleeping soundly, their bodies pressed together tightly. One of them was a large grey male with a thick reddish stripe down his back, and sleeping beside him was his mate. She was a petite wolf with a pale silvery pelt and a white underbelly. Behind them, the dark reddish ball of fur that was their pup spun in circles, snapping at her tail. After several failed attempts to catch it, she fell back on her haunches, and eyed her parents mischievously.
"Dad?" she called quietly.
The big male didn't move.

To shield you with warmth
To protect you against the harsh cold of the night
Love is shelter
To hide you from your fears and frights
Love is your very essence
Your being that makes you, you
Love is having someone you care for
By your side
Through thick and thin
Through the good and the bad
Having a person to turn to
When you need help most
Someone who will listen
Someone who will hold you close
And tell you everything is going to be alright
Everything you need
To get through your life
Having that special someone
To sleep with under the stars
Love is you and I
Never being separated
Regardless of what happens...
I love you
And that will never change...
*Froststar's Mistake*Froststar breathed heavily as she faced and battled a sunclan warrior. She strikes an attack and took a glimpse at the other warriors. They were tried but kept fighting for their clan just because Froststar told them too. She watches the Sunclan warriors weaken but still undefeated while the Frostclan warriors strikes hard but weakly. As Froststar finished the blow she ran so she can have time to think. She settled near Sunclan border making sure no one was there. She tried to calm down to capture what just happened. An image of cats dead or injured harshly from the battle came to mind. Froststar stared blankly and thought "All my fault.. just for prey" Froststar felt weak and tried and stared back at the battlefield. When we met, the humidity was settling like damp dust on the trees and the sky was slipping into a murky comma. The hazy ceiling was of no interest to her but I felt a hole, the absence leaving me airless and blinded.
Some time later I found her, mirror eyes to space, hair in the grass. Where she came from the screams of sirens and screens of diffused light were commonplace. The few pinpricks of light, flecked high above, made her feel small and insignificant.
I remember being small and insignificant. When I was young and finch-like I could stare for hours, feeling untethered to gravity. The massive expanse of spiraling light and burning gas, their heat lifetimes away, left speckles on my skin and in my pale, electrified eyes. I felt huge. I felt my spirit burst from my ribs and fly through the atmosphere, a torpedo saturated with ecstasy and blazing instinct.
On solitary walks through fields frosted with moonlight and through

I rushed past the house as Dustin chased me. “Kira! Dustin! Come back inside!” My mother called to us. Dustin stopped chasing me and we headed back inside. My mother and I had been packing up to move for a couple of weeks and we were finally moving today.
“We’re leaving in about an hour. Say your goodbyes to Dustin while I pack up the remaining things.” Mother told us. I turned to Dustin. “Well Dustin. This is it.” I said sadly. I wanted to stay, of course, but I couldn’t. My mother had gotten a new job in another part of the state. I would be living in a new city, go to a new school, and have to get all new friends. That’s not very fun in my point of view.
“Yeah. Well, at least we’ve got each others phone number.” He said, trying to cheer me up. I shrugged and gave him a quick hug. “I’ll call you when I get to the house.” I told him. He nodded. “Goodbye old friend.” D

Her family, her friends, her entire species torn apart, her trust for anything, anyone gone.
No one there at her aid.
They were closing in and she had no where to run or hide. Cybertron was falling apart where she was from and the grounds she knew were falling apart beneath her very feet. No one was there to hear her. This was the end. She most likely wouldn't make it through the torture chambers. She knew that being so small wasn't really any help to her, despite her ferocious-sounding name, and she would put up not much of a fight. She had nothing to live for. She couldn't even get out of this one even if she wantedto!
She froze when a bright red Decepticon mech rounded the corner and his eyes squinted with evil. He stepped out and slowly, menacingly took massive steps towards her, pummeling her inner thoughts.
Four drones followed him and a smirk stretched across his face when he stopped. His blades were hidden, but that didn't suppress her fear in any way.
Sick Day A loud squealing pierced through the ears of the young teen. Though he enjoys going to school, today felt different. A loud, powerful thudding was violently rattling his head. Groaning, Yugi weakly reached a hand up to slam the alarm clock on its head to stop it's powerful noise. He could've sworn he heard a voice after he'd hit the alarm, but felt peaceful as the ringing in his ears had stopped for the time being. Absentmindedly, he began falling back into the depths of sleep, completely forgetting he had to get up for school. Atem could hear Yugi's alarm clock annoyingly buzzing all the way in Solomon's room, which he proudly took over as soon as the old man left on his trip. The former Pharaoh groaned and stood from the bed still foggy from his peaceful sleep. He made no motion to be quiet as he's feet stormed their way to Yugi's room. Opening the door slightly, Atem spotted Yugi still sleeping and the alarm clock sti

I can sketch a cute pup,
and he'll smile at me.
I can make him laugh,

I can draw a person

I'll create a world of my own

They'll talk and dance and sing

Doing her daily routine, Spottedfur breezed through the halls of Kraven High. She remembers Stonecreek asking if they could spend their last two days together. Instead of meeting up with her friends at the end of the E-Wing, Spotty went to find Stonecreek. He was hanging around his friends. It was awkward being with him around his friends, but she moved on anyways.
"Hey Spotty." Stonecreek called to her
"Heyo" She called back
Spottedfur and Stonecreek spent the rest of the day with eachother when they could. Spotty noticed something fishy going on with Stone, though. He was acting all weird, and sort of nasty toward her. Probably got set off by Skyridge. she thought.
The bell rang, which let everyone know that they need to be in class. Spottedfur and Stonecreek said goodbye and headed to class.
As the class went by, Spottedfur couldn't help but think of why he was being nasty all of a

Milad Bessada is seventy-five years of age and stands at a stout five feet and four inches. He has dark sunbaked skin and prominent wrinkles around his eyes and mouth – evidence of a lifetime of expressive conversation and warm smiles. There is a distinctiveness and authority to him – with his still-full head of snowy white hair and dark, intelligent eyes, he remains imposing despite an ever-more protruding pot-belly and hands he finds not quite as steady as they used to be. He speaks in carefully chosen vocabulary with a peculiar Arabic-British accent.
Milad was born in Cairo, Egypt, into a family of seven. He was not the oldest, nor the youngest, but one of the forgotten middle children. As a young man, Milad left his home and went to Cambridge University to study economics. He learned two imperative t

Chiller calmly padded up behind Bumblebee shortly after waking up. The yellow-and-black wolf had woken in the middle of the night, leaving the berthroom where his comrades slept soundlessly. Something's on his mind. Chiller thought silently to herself. Bumblebee turned his head slightly to look at her as she sat next to him on the cliff side outside of base, watching the night sky.
"What's wrong, Bee?" His ears flicked at the sound of her voice. After staying silent for a few seconds, Bumblebee turned his head to her, sadness clouding his eyes, *...We almost lost Raf today,* he looked down, away from her gentle gaze as he shamed himself, *And it's my fault.*
Chiller was stricken with emotion instantly. It was true that they had almost lost their shared charge to Megatron's wrath earlier, but it wasn't Bumblebee's fault. "Bee... That's not true. You had no idea Megatron would encounter you, nor that he was above you. There was nothing you could do, don't t

His jaws locked around her throat for a moment and he flung her across the frosted field they were battling in. Energon smudged across the snow as she tumbled and rolled, finally coming to a halt in the powdery, bloodstained snow. Struggling to get up as he approached her again, her paws wouldn't work. Energon started to leak from them by cracking in the frostbitten air and snow.
Chiller's wounds stung in the freezing air and her ears dropped as his paw stopped before her nose. She looked up and saw those terrifying blood red eyes, "You look like you're in pain...

What does it matter to you if I fall?
If my heart lies in the sky, forget me.
For then I wont remember you at all.
Your love is today, but what for morrow
Your promise is now, but what for tonight?
These lies you speak do fill me with sorrow
But up in the stars, my hopes lie so bright.
In sleeping away the cold December
My slumber lies all my worries to rest.
Inside of me, my heart cant remember
The last time the sun came up from the west
If I believe I can be what Im not
Forget me for life, and the love I sought.
Marketplace Rp: Nadya, Guil, Robyn, GotyeNadya padded through the thinning crowds as the day’s legitimate business dealings were drawing to a close. She nodded to a vendor as she passed, acknowledging their knowing of each other. As Nadya trod along she conspicuously searched the crowd for familiar faces. Sadly there were none, and a repeat costumer was always welcome: they were more likely to tip better. With a yawn, the female plopped down into her usually corner of the marketplace, watching the flow of the crowd. Her tail began to thump out a steady tempo on the ground beside her, creating a beat. Tapping a fore-paw in the ground so that her nail clicked in time, she watched as a few heads turned towards her. Good, come to me my lovelies. With that thought, she leaped to her paws, letting her scarf billow with her movements. A soft yip announced the start of her dance.Marketplace Rp: Nadya, Guil, Robyn, Gotye9 months ago in Drama More Like This
