May contest: Flowers and Plants.Update: Just a reminder that this is the last week to get your entries in for the contest! For those who have already submitted, please ensure that your piece is in the right folder!May contest: Flowers and Plants.10 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Two months ago we had 60 entries for the monthly photo contest,
with the theme Still Life, so thank you all!
After a month of break for you all, here we are again with a new contest.
Now keep reading for May's contest theme and rules!
What's the theme?
Flowers & Plants, as in deviantART's flora section: http://www.deviantart.com/photography/nature/flora/. Photos of flowers (close-up or not) in their natural place (not in vases, because that would be Still Life), of trees and other plants.
Here are some links to useful journals to get you introduced to Flora photography: http://uae4u.deviantart.com/journal/Phot

Time for a trip awayHello everyone. I am going away for a week on Saturday. My work has been too much recently which explains why I have been a little quieter on here than usual. As a reward for all that work I am going back to the Isle Of Skye for a few days. I do love it there as you may have noticed. I am not expecting great weather at this time of year but I will have a good break anyway and if I can get any pictures so much the better.Time for a trip away4 months ago in Personal More Like This
I just though there is just time for another quick feature. I am just throwing this one together so we will have to see how it works out. I would like to thank everyone who has asked if all is ok here. It is all fine, I have just been so busy that time has been very short. I am hoping to sort that out in the new year.
Thank you all for your wonderful love and support for my photos. I realise even more, due to time being limited lately, how much I enjoy being here with you all. The good news is I should have wifi at the cottage I am staying in on Skye so I m

Her gallery spans several sub-categories of deviantART's photography gallery and includes work specifically focused on Macro, Still Life and Nature. Here in this interview with us, she talks about her greatest love, her inspiration and the most vital piece of advice that she has learned over the years.PE: Interview with Andokadesbois1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
1) Firstly, tells us a bit about yourself and how you find yourself undertaking Photography...
My name is Elisabeth (but I prefer to be called Liz). I'm 24 and live in France near Paris. I fell in love with Photography when I was 16 (so really 8 years ago ). That year was a bad year for me, I couldn't go to school anymore so I had to keep myself busy. I found my dad's camera, a little compact one. I started taking pictures of everything, I absolutely fell in love. After that, I focused on nature and o
Heading North East for a few daysHello everyoneHeading North East for a few days6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Well I am going away for a few days. I leave on Saturday for week in Northumberland in the North East of England. Coast, castles, hills and walks. I hope I will come back with some pictures of course I will have very limited wifi if any during this week so I may seem a little quieter than usual. I will be back soon enough trying to catch up again.
On that subject. I am very aware that I am a little behind with thanks at the moment. I have many comments to reply to. As you know, I always reply to comments in the end. I will get to them all I promise so I beg your patience. It has been a very busy time lately so I am looking forward to my short break.
I have been collecting many pf your pictures since my last journal so, in a moment, I will share a pretty random and wide ranging selection of them. Once again, there are works from keen beginners and works from very accomplished artists but to me they are all beautiful. I hope you will find som

How to get more Popularity and PageviewsFame is something a lot of people want to get on dA.How to get more Popularity and Pageviews6 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Many people know this - you log in and have little to no new messages.
So you want to get known, want to get your pictures out there. Many pageviews tell you that many people have visited your site and have taken notice of you.
This is giving everyone a good feeling
So here are some suggestions to reach this goal:
In order to get you have to give. Browse through the categories you like the most, and pick the pictures you like and comment on them. Don't only comment on the most professional pictures, the artist is most likely too busy to answer them all. Your chance of getting noticed is bigger when you comment on the works of unpopular artists, as they are more likely reading and answering your comment.
Important: Don't spam. No one likes mediocre comments that could fit every picture. Most people will just ignore you then, plus you could get banned. And don't only comment on pictures, also com

America’s Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, Just a short walk from the White House, has had its up’s and down’s over the years since opening in 1846.
The Smithsonian’s Washington complex of nineteen museums, nine research centers, and a zoo, has been enjoying a recent renaissance of reorganization and a welcome if belated introduction into the digital age.
