then ill definitely have one on some digital inking tricks
prolly gonna do some zbrush ones too, but dont expect to learn that much from me without actually trying shit out on your own too.
and again to remind you all, these are nothing but techniques. if you want to learn how to actually draw... then..draw. if you fail...draw more, if you are the best ever..draw more.... im just here to show you some tips n tricks XD

well to fully grasp that i must first explain my personal origins
1 i was a traditional painter and drawer?...that doesnt sound right...
2 i was a traditional sculptor..alas photos of that stuff mostly got lost
i practiced abour 17 yeears now to get this bunch of mostly self taught techniques to work
most of my stuff is a digital painting now, made or drawn in photoshop cs3. never switched higher as cs3 satisfied all my photoshoppin needs
i used to do quite a bit of modelling in 3d studio max, but it was too technical of a program so eventually i gave it up and completely switched to zbrush as it provided me with excellent set of organinc modelling and texturing tools
aand some of that
Its all a ScamContextIts all a Scam3 months ago in Personal More Like This
This is another long one, and I apologize but I need to speak my mind. This journal is in response to the "righteously indignant" users making a fuss about me "selling" fanart of copyrighted characters in my recent Adventure Time post. To the person who signed up today just to write a nasty comment on my new Society6 page. To the person who flagged my recent Adventure Time illustration on DA and then proceeded to send me an e-mail about doing it (probably the same person). To the people creating multiple accounts to try and dissuade users from spending their money how they see fit. And to a long list of people who follow everything I do post just to make sure that their negative voice and attitude are the first voices anyone ever sees on all of my work.
It's All A Scam
I'm in an unenviable position. Popular enough to be well known, not popular enough to be making oodles of cash off my stuff. Part of that is my own fault for not really promoting and selling myself,

i have seen in my life many artists who proclaimed they want to develop their skills, and kept bashing on everyone and everything on the way....and for some reason those guys never got anywhere...
here is why..
there is a value to different approaches, different styles. realism, manga , cartooney disney, my little pony, furries....don't waste your time tryint to bash any of the stuff you don't personally like
you are missing out, bigtime!
see there is a reason why that stuff is popular. and by that i mean on the visual side. so instead of flaming , trolling and bashing, try understanding the inner workings of it.
here are some specific examples
realism- it is a wonderfully complex base , reflects one's skill in capturing reality, but in it there are differences between photo referenced, real life work and no reference. ALL HAVE THEIR VALUE AND IMPORTANCE! from photos you can learn alot, gain analytic skills, develop an attention to

okay, so after a swarm of questions many of which left me with my jaw on the floor... i realized something...
people are afraid of pushing a button to see what it does
okay, to backtrack first. i am self taught in photoshop, had no books had no tutorials, had a borrowed i think 7... dunno which was before cs2 when i started, i learned it by ....pressing a button and seeing what it does
i explored, i tried stuff out.
i had no teachers no schools no education on this stuff
i saw a button i pressed it.
that is how about 9 years ago when i first decided to try and apply digital coloring to early pages of ravine, i was dabbing paint on a page. i came to the point where i had to paint a waterfall. so , just for fun i tried putting scattering on the foam brush i made, a simple thing. and i was gonna see if smudge could be scattered. it had a weird side effect.
and this is how you make a brush XDokay, so next week i will have actual video tuts of my own with audio showing some brush tips, but till then...and this is how you make a brush XD6 months ago in Personal More Like This
MY WIFE HAS HAD TUTORIALS ON THAT FOR OVER A YEAR AGOOOOOO!!!!
but googling how to make brushes in photoshop is soo tiresome ...
ugh...
so, here is where you find her video containing that stuff
http://calisto-lynn.deviantart.com/#/d3kj45x
and here is a folder full of here tuts on brushes and other stuff
http://calisto-lynn.deviantart.com/gallery/4294706
look through all of it if you want to learn some neat stuff.
then after actually trying some of it out, you will understand better how i do my stuff.
and then next week you will hear my charming lovely voice ranting about photoshoppin XD
should be fun, and seriously, my voice is ooh so sexy XDXDXDXDXD... with a slight hard r russianish accent XD

style is just how the artist feels like treating his or her world at any given time!
it is influenced by the styles of other artists the artist admires
it is an amalgamation of influences mixed with personal sensibility....
it is perpetually changing and evolving
and it is not a trademarked property
see, i personally am a mix of influences from michael turner , adam hughes, marc silvestri, alex ross a few concept artist, and my design is greatly influenced by stan winston studio
my cartoonyer style is influenced greatly by disney and don bluth with a dash of manga and a healthy dose of j scott campbell who can probably tell you a similar story about the origins of his own style
its the nature of humanity people.
we stand on each others shoulders striving for greatness. so too will i influence quite a few artists who will adapt my own approaches into their workflow.
also.... i'm batman!
just to see who is still reading XD
A Special Beer Drinker's Journal. The great thing about Build-Your-Own Six Packs is they let you experiment with beers that you otherwise wouldn't risk your money on. Sometimes these can blossom into a new favorite, like Rogue's Dead Guy.A Special Beer Drinker's Journal.1 month ago in Personal More Like This
The bad thing about Build-Your-Own Six Packs is they encourage you to try things you really knew you shouldn't have put in a mug. Sometimes these can cause hate and discontent that you wasted money on such revolting swill.
For instance: "Third Shift Lager." I've tried this. You don't have to now.
Really. Don't.
A little hard to get these daysIt's been a rough month so far. After being sick for a long time at the end of this winter, I spent weeks fixing past year's mistakes on my tax returns, ruining several perfectly good mornings by spending them at the IRS downtown, then my bank account got hacked and, cherry on the sundae, my website was compromised this weekend.A little hard to get these days1 month ago in Personal More Like This
I fixed it all, but I'm exhausted from the stress. I have a business trip out of town next week, too, so I think I'm going to take a much-needed break between now and then. It shouldn't prevent me from posting a chapter, but I'm not going to push it.
Just letting you all know.
P.S. Tip to the wise: Put an antivirus on your smartphone and on the backend of your website. A little bit of prevention goes a long way.

Being a regular reader of Larry Correia's blog, I'm not surprised I came across this. And I completely agree. I would also note this writer is fairly left of center. So he's not saying this as a conservative/libertarian ideologue lamenting an inability to get published.
It's a left-leaning SF writer, noting that ideologically, 'science-fiction' has dispensed with both science and storytelling to promote progressive ideology. And if you don't toe the line, forget about getting published, let alone nominated for awards.
Having read many of the recent 'award nominees' of SFW, and not finding ONE worth reading, let alone enjoyable, I heartily agree.

New original epic space opera storyYou knew this was coming. The new story I have been plotting even as I finish up the final chapters of TOTGA has reached its incubation stage. The shell has its form; it is soft yet, but in time it will hatch a story that I hope will knock your socks off.New original epic space opera story1 month ago in Personal More Like This
Here is the summary:
Humankind's days were undeniably numbered. Covering the halls of the human colonies, murals depicted Earth as they had last seen it, wheeling around the reddened sun with a fading ribbon of white trailing behind it as the last of the atmosphere evaporated into space.
It had been less than twenty years since the Exodus from Earth saw the remnants of humanity trapped within the relative safety of the magnetosphere of Jupiter, and supplies were dwindling faster than they could replace them. As pressures continued to build, leaders of the three largest remaining colonies decided to meet on Europa to discuss their options for survival.
In this hotbed of political intrigue and the ever-present dangers of space, the t

Making Babies!***Warning: Long article Ahead***Making Babies!2 months ago in Personal More Like This
So I was surprised in two forms this morning.
First and foremost I learned that the original character I created a while ago called Axios has won first place in :iconezri-Krios: 's competition and will feature in her wonderful work (Absolutely recommend it to any Mass Effect fan-fic fans out there – it is amazing as is her alternative companion piece 'Fighting the Good Fight'.
I am totally flattered, especially considering when I made Axios I was, and still am really, a fledgling on here totally intimidated by all the amazing stuff around me. I still feel like a very small fish in a very large pond!
But equally as surprising I logged into both DeviantART and FF.net to find I had personal messages from people asking for advice on how to create characters that people will love as much, if not more so in some cases, than the canon originals in fanfiction. Well, I was a bit stumped because it is something I don't really think about – or fe

Rama: What can you tell me about yourself and your start as an artist?
Mosobot: Well, let's see, as of now I've been on DA for nearly a decade, and as a non-professional artist I go back at least that far.
One thing that's always been consistent about me is that I've always been dreaming about new worlds, and over time I've gradually been improving my skills at expressing those ideas.
I basically got into art for the sake of my over-active and adventuresome imagination, I suppose.
Rama: Well, that's a such a long time, How did you learn about DA and why did you really join?
Mosobot: I think I learned about it on a fluke a long time ago, I don't even know where.
As for why, well, back in the day I used to draw with plain ol' pencil crayons, but mainly I wrote fanfiction (I was a kid, bear with me), so
Hello My Lovelies!I know I've been a bit quiet this last week, and I apologize. I've just had a lot going on and I will be a bit on the silent side for at least this next month.Hello My Lovelies!2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Why is that? Well, even though my Certified Nursing Assistant license hasn't yet transferred from my old state to my new state, the fact of the matter is, I am still licensed and trained and that was enough for a couple to hire me in as their overnight CNA. This makes me a private hire and therefore I am not required to hold a license. This couple is only down here til sometime next month when they move back home to their original state. So, between then and now, I'm working Monday nights through Friday nights (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) taking care of the wife. They are a sweet couple and I'm looking forward to this. I started last week which was part of the reason I've been so quiet.
Also, this upcoming Saturday is my birthday! I know I'm at an age where people start moaning and groaning

Things have been crazy with meWell, kind of.
I haven't been writing much lately, I've been really stuck in the same scene for the past week, and it's really annoying. I've only written 500 words since last Thursday, it's SICK. but I guess the main reason is because I changed how the story is going after I ruined everything with over-editing. I literally spent more than 4 hours editing and changing it to something it shouldn't be, but *abstract1106 has defiantly set me back on the right track. So, Kudos to you my friend!
Good things happened though, I finally found a couple of songs that totally INSPIRED ME! It was weird, I was just listening to music as usual, then, Scenes and feelings started going in my head. it was AMAZING! I've always wondered how you guys use music to inspire/help you with the writing process, some said it helps with setting the mood but I never really had a problem with entering it (Years of hardcore daydreaming do help) b
Competition for Journal Skin Experts! So, I was thinking of arranging a little competition for those interested! Particularly those who are good at making Journal Skins -Competition for Journal Skin Experts!3 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm looking for an original journal skin I could use on my profile reflecting the fanfiction that I write (mainly mass effect with a Kaidan/romance). As a prize for the winner I would be willing to give:
* 1 year deviant membership
* Credit on the skin every time I use it
(Which is fairly regularly)
* Priority on any other future commissions
for skins from me
* Two runners-up will recieve 200 points each
If you are interested and want to give it a bash then simply create your skin and send me a link - I will then keep them in a nice little favourites folder until the end of the competition where I will enlist the help of three independent judges to help me choose a winner!
So details, details...
Well, the skin has to be Mass Effect themed (for those of you unfamiliar it is an Xbox360 game for which I w

I also wanted to share something. I don't have a playlist, I just listen to all of my music on shuffle (more than 1,000 tracks and counting). So it takes a while to hear a song again. I recently heard one that reminded me of the emotions I felt in regards to the ending of ME3. It was Adele's 'Set Fire to the Rain'. I know that's a weird song for that since it's really about a man and a woman, but I was so let down and so depressed in those moments when I realized, this was it (and I'm not talking about the end to the trilogy, I was excited for that because I was excited about moving on to a whole new story in
