FutureWhy do I worry?Future2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Why do I even care?
What life have I chosen?
Why is it hard to bear?
What should I do?
Will I just carry on?
Is this all there is?
Have I got it so wrong?
What does one do?
Which road will I take?
Where do I belong?
In this big mistake.

Scared of what he'll do
But no way to prevent
That waking it, is what I'll do
Curious as I am
I take a step back
And watch its every move
Surprised by how it ends
The monster of who they spoke
Ain't no monster at all
It's just a lonely creature
Needed love, that's all
A Millstone Around One's NeckFear, anger, hatred...A Millstone Around One's Neck2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
These feelings are not mere shadows,
Passing through our minds like clouds on the breeze.
Rather, they are as leeches,
Draining the life and potential from us.
Like the infamous strangler fig,
They will only serve to weaken us,
While they grow ever stronger.
Much like weeds choking the fields before the time to harvest,
They must be uprooted, cast away, and forgotten.
For if you allow the seeds to take root,
These wretched things will continue to corrupt us
As well as those we love.
Depart from them, and stay strong.
Band together, resist these evils, and
Like the Devil, they will flee.
Otherwise, they will be a millstone around one's neck
Dragging you down as surely as water running downhill.
To the LightShe started off slowlyTo the Light2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Timid steps, with silent meaning
Constantly turning to look back,
the shadows beckoning her home
But she didn't stop her walk,
she started to move faster
Each step bringing her more strength
The shadows creeping behind her
She began a small jog,
mind focused on escaping
But it began to get colder,
A shadow touched her heel,
and she ran
She ran for everything she had lost
She ran for everything she needed to find
She saw the light up ahead,
and she broke into a sprint
The shadows fading to her back,
letting her go
She reached a hand out,
and ran as fast as she could
Cause she was running for her freedom,
she was running for her life
Once she reached the light
She smiled, smiled for the past
The one that had finally led her,
to the light

Doesn't feel right.
Neither does shouting
Or putting up a fight.
Tears aren't endless-
My throat ran dry.
People stopped caring.
The world was a lie
I found some paper,
An old, used pen;
Turned my inside out;
Let my emotions rule again.
Paper after paper
Filled with words in ink...
No need to worry.
No need to think.
Let it all go
The scars run deep.
It's bleeding out.
This is what i keep:
A book with letters
Written in tears,
My heart on paper,
My deepest fears.

Scorched the sky,
On broad wings we gracefully fly.
To watch over the fractured earth,
Pocked and scarred,
For miles that stretch, now battle marred.
And we'll call aloud
With our voices of spring,
Listen hard and you'll hear us sing
Our lasting lament to those that lie
In the war torn fields stretched out below,
Where dwell thousands of memories as the poppies grow.

Ode to My DragonflyOde to My DragonflyOde to My Dragonfly2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I have been shown truth
in love's true face,
the lessons to be learned
in a Dragonfly's grace
I have been shown freedom
and the peace it brings
All in the blur
of a Dragonfly's wings
Though she flew away,
I knew I must give chase,
for I would give all
for my Dragonfly's embrace
I have been shown a future
of cloudless blue skies
reflected back to me
in my Dragonfly's eyes
My heart fills with love
and the passion it brings
my very soul soars
when my Dragonfly sings
There are no words,
for what you have given me
My life, my love,
My Dragonfly in the Sea.

a little dragon
curled up, head over tail.
Sleeping quite happily,
curled around something.
A little doll of him.
Or more like what he was.
What he was not so long ago.
But now he's happy.
Never has he slept so peacefully,
He never had the chance to do so before,
but now there was comfort.
In a place surrounded by those who love him.
that little dragon could have never guessed how nice heaven really is.

Dear Daddy"Tomorrow is my birthday, Daddy! Are you coming home?" I asked. My daddy has to work far away in a place called New York, so I almost never see him.Dear Daddy2 years ago in Settings More Like This
"Sorry, Honey. I can't now, but I will come home as soon as I can. Happy Early Birthday, Taylor," I heard Daddy say through the telephone.
"But I really miss you, Daddy!"
"I miss you, too. Can I talk to Mommy?" Daddy asked.
"Okay. I love you, Daddy," I told him, trying not to cry.
"Love you, too," he said before I gave the phone to Mommy. Little did I know, that was the last time I got to talk to my Daddy.
The next day, some bad people flew airplanes into Daddy's work. Mommy and I cried when we saw it. They never found Daddy. No! Daddy left me on my fifth birthday.
Why did you leave, Daddy? That was all I thought durring the funeral. I sat in the front row of the church with Mommy and A.J., my baby
