Chapter Eight: On the Horizon (Part Two)
"And if they're in a compromising position, you can step in. But preferably not until then."
Although Duskynn's voice was friendly, I could hear hints of a clipped tone in it. I knew that he was consciously stifling it, however- like tapping a spoon against the shell of an egg, he was afraid that stronger words would crack me.
As much as I hated it, they probably could.
I nodded. "I-I understand." Another stutter. Damn it.
"Call if you need anything." He offered me a swift nod in return, too stiff to be comfortable, and I slipped out of the kitchen. I could usually tell when he had something on his mind, and I didn't want to interrupt. I knew what it was like to want time to myself.
Ears perked and swivelling, I tiptoed my way to the medical wing. It wouldn't be long before the team left, but I knew I could still spare a few minutes
Christmas ShoutOut~!Well, it's nearly Christmas, the holiday that celebrates togetherness and life, so I thought it might be nice to show a little appreciation for everyone who's been supporting me this year.Christmas ShoutOut~!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Prepare for a very long list.
Alright then, let's get started~!
You've been my moirail for a long time now. You're supportive and encouraging, and having you around really brightens my day! But I also love how we can sit down and have serious conversations... it's very well-balanced.
You're an amazing artist as well. I wish I had a fifth of your skill. (Any more than that would cause an immediate explosion of epicness that would probably destroy the world.)
Your determination and loyalty to your friends is unparalleled, and I'm proud to know you.
You're loved and valued. Merry Christmas.
Just seeing you smile and laughs cheers me up, no matter how bad my day was before. You've been nothing bu
The Hunter Alex was a deer of only two years when he'd realized a hunter was following near. The Hunter2 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
"What is a hunter?" he'd once asked his mother, who'd found that odd question understandably queer.
"Well, darling," she said, "the answer's quite clear." And she spun him a tale- and that tale's premier spoke of a creature that walked in the dark… that made doves, crows and larks all cry out in fear.
"They don't go in parks," his mother remarked, "but I'd nought be surprised if you found one here."
Ever since, Alex kept watch for this foe. And, as the springtime drew towards a close, he did notice something, which he'd come to know as a monster that stalked him within sunlight's glow.
So with nary a cry, he bid his mother goodbye, and told her to hide 'til return of the snow. Then, tears a-flow, he ran to a plateau, where he hoped that the monster would turn a blind eye.
But by the dark beast's pursuit, he still wagered he'd die.

Chapter Five: Discover and Recover (Part Two)
"Sparrow, come here."
I felt apprehension tightening in my chest at his tone. It was too soft; when he sounded nice, I could never entirely tell what he was thinking.
And that wasn't exactly safe.
Nonetheless, I approached without hesitation. Training far outweighed personal safety. Always.
"Did you need something, Father?" I asked.
My eyes followed his hand as it moved from the desk, pulling his scalpel from his coat pocket for likely the hundredth time that day. I knew from experience that I didn't have to worry about it, so as he turned to me I fixed my expression into a look of calm curiosity. Not too lax, not too nervous, and as respectful as I could possibly appear.
When our eyes finally met, I was the model of a perfect daughter.
"… I wish to speak with you," he answered after eyeing me for a minut

Chapter Ten: Isolated (Part One, Act Two of Two)
"You're such a tease, luv."
"Oh, shut up. You want blood, don't you?"
"Of course I do."
"Then be quiet."
"If you'd rather."
"… Not really."
"Make up your mind, then."
"I already have. Although it obviously isn't for the sake of your company." Chloe stuck out her tongue, then paused. "… It won't turn me into a Shathran, will it?"
The giggling that followed filled my room with a very soothing ambience, and I smiled as I shook my head. "Of course not. Most of the human vampire myths are ridiculous, anyways."
"You think so?" she grinned back, sitting on the edge of my bed. I was fortunate to have made it that morning; how embarrassing it would have been for the area to be a mess… "I always liked them myself."
"I'd assumed that you would." Out of manners, I sat on the floor. Even then, we
