II: Dreams That Haunt
Heat blistered Miki’s face as flames wreathed around her like a maelstrom from hell. The air seemed baked dry, a Mercurean desert contaminated with the poison of humanity’s ill-willed creation. Her body seemed to burn but her nerves seemed so confused by what was happening that the pain dwindled into a dull sting. Miki gazed down at her hazy hands and felt her reptilian fingers clasp around one another -- half-melted pieces of flesh holding onto the dim memory of a life amidst tropical trees. She looked forward through the gray smoke and flashes of light. Fractured images of a broken dinosaur’s body lay wasted in the debris of human industry.
Little one! You mustn’t die! She felt a scream release from her radioactive maw but it merely seemed to echo behind the sound of annoying human artillery.
Miki leaned forward in an attempt to see through the smoke, but fell victim to a terrible pain in her body. An eruption of fire and ma

"Negative, but I'm pretty sure it won't be long until we find it." Mako replied.
The Jaeger known as Gipsy Danger continued to walk through the destroyed remains of what was once Hong Kong. It had only been an hour since a new type of Kaiju emerged. The Pan Pacific Defense Corps were unable to determine its category or code name, but little did they know that this beast already had a name.
Within the hour it had emerged the city of Hong Kong had nearly been reduced to nothing but rubble. Gipsy Danger had been deployed to stop the rampaging Kaiju and stop its destruction of city.... or what was left of it.
"How can a single Kaiju cause this much destruction in such a short time?" Mako asked h

Ursa walked barefoot through her room, held baby Zuko straight into her arms. She was rubbing his back, so she tried to loosen some mucus.
This had been an awful and sleepless night. Zuko has the whooping cough. A disease that is dangerous for young children, they can get a respiratory arrest or they can choke in their mucus.
Ozai looked worriedly over his wife and child. "Why does everything always need to fail?" He asked emotionally.
Ursa thought several seconds over these words and smiled. "I don't see this as failing, Ozai. Life can't be perfect all the time."
The young man shook his head. "Everything I ever held into my hands has failed..."
"That isn't true, that insinuates your father!" Ursa closed her ey

Twilight Sparkle woke up in bed cold and shivering. Where are my covers? She thought. She looked over the edge of her bed to the right, no covers there. On the left side the covers were lying on the floor. I must have kicked them off while I had that nightmare.
She could not remember any details about the nightmare other than there was a lot of running. A feeling of foreboding surfaced. Why? Golden sunlight streamed through the windows. Birds were singing. Seemed like a perfect morning. Twilight still felt that something bad was coming. Time to get up.
At two, Twilight was going to a picnic with her friends. That would be great. She missed them a lot. Maybe her feelings were related to the reason she was here?
When Twilight was in Canterlot she had spent a lot of time doing intensive magical research with the leaders of several mage groups. It was a dream come true. All sorts of different magics to study. The problem was she did not pace herself too well.

Eight-year-old May stared at the digital clock on her dresser. The time read eleven fourteen. The colons blinked with each second that passed, making her practically jump in angst.
"Come on, come on..." she whispered, glancing back and forth at the telephone and the clock. She gasped and jumped when the time turned to eleven fifteen, turning all of her attention to the phone.
May swiped the phone off of the dresser without even bothering to look at the caller ID. She answered and pressed the phone to her ear. "Hi, Ash!" she exclaimed happily.
"Morning, May! You wanna come over? I wrote a new song just for you!" eight-year-old Ash replied on the other end the same happy tone in his voice.
May nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "Mhmm! I love hearing you play the piano! I'll be right over!"
"Okay, see you in a few minutes!" They ended the call.
May quickly brushed her hair and ran downstairs. "Mommy, it's eleven fifteen!" she called to her pregna

New York City:
George was walking to school as he got pushed by a bunch of skater dudes and fell on the side of the sidewalk.
"Watch where your going, loser!" said one of the guys riding the skateboards.
George got up on his feet and kept walking. George was the kinda guy that was always getting picked on and, he wasn't even a freak or a nerd. The high school kids just randomly choose him to be their punching bag. (It's funny how high school kids think!)
Anyway, it was George's last year, as he was a senior, almost ready to leave these losers behind. As George got to school he saw his long loved crush talking with the other girls, chatting about some new soda coming this year.

You're rude, disrespecful and nasty,
Maybe you're looking for sympathy?
But you won't find any here with me.
You walk around like you own the place,
A permanent smirk strapped upon your face,
You think that God has given you grace,
But it's disappeared from you without a trace.
You can tease, mock and taunt me,
You can push, prod and hurt me,
But Jesus Christ loves me for me,
Because this is who I'm meant to be.
I can tell your friends are bad for you,
You seem to just do what they tell you to,
I know these things are fresh and new,
But is this what God would want from you?
No matter what you say to me,
No matter who you try to be,
God will always know because he can see,
And with Him lies your destiny.
You can tease, mock and taunt me,
You can push, prod and hurt me,
But The Lord loves me for me,
Because this is who I'm meant to be.
I won't make an apology,
Because of how God's made me,
I'm more than happy to be me,
Because his love is what sets me

"Your Highness, it's here. Just like you wanted."
It was finally nightfall in Canterlot. The funeral had ended hours ago.
"Well done," said Celestia on her throne, "Bring it in."
Her guard saluted and gave a sharp whistle. At once, a platoon of muddy royal guards trooped into the throne room. With them however, was a dirty, pink casket. Celestia got up and smiled.
"Leave us," she commanded. The guards obeyed at once.
Celestia circled the casket. So this was the pony who caused so much trouble. This was the pony who came back to haunt her friends. Celestia grinned. That was the whole reason she wanted the casket here. She came back.
Celestia used her magic to lift open the casket's cover. Inside laid a bright pink pony. Her front hooves were placed above her chest. She wore a content look of peace of her face. If it weren't for the fact that the pony was missing everything from the chest down, She would've looked like she was sleeping and e

It felt like being reborn in a strange sense. Finally I had this wolf that I could talk to, hunt, and howl with. I found out that she was four winters old, and I was actually quite surprised when I heard this. Hunts became easier, and with this newborn income of food, I began to gain weight and muscle tone. My skin tightened along muscles now instead of bones, and I had more energy than I had in a long time. I could run further than before without tiring. Kipya started to even call me by name instead of Scrawnywolf.
Another moon after Kipya's arrival, there came a night where I couldn't fall asleep. I lay there at the opening of the den and just felt the cool breeze flowing through my fur. I wonder what Tsuki, Alice... and Thorn are all doing right now. I thought to myself. Tsuki must be asleep, and so are the others. Something deep inside told me that when I looked up at the nearly full moon, Tsuki was watching it too. A noise rumbled deep in me, and then before I knew it, a howl shot

Korra sighed to herself, taking a moment's reprieve in the empty public restroom. She washed her hands, staring at her own reflection as she did so. This was her first day of real work, in a sense. She was to spend the afternoon monitoring the campus center building, within orbit of her superiors, after she'd endured a morning of being shown how to properly ticket cars that were parked at incorrect or unauthorized locations. So here she was, taking a brief bathroom break. She studied her appearance in the mirror. The black button-down and tie were...unsettling to her. And to have her shirt tucked in felt like an abomination. She'd worn her hair back in a single ponytail today, and that wasn't looking right to her either. Being told about all of these rules and restrictions and things she had to do or had better not to was also intimidating.
She simply didn't feel in her element here.
She heard some kind of clamoring to down the long, narrow h
