Contest - Can't Turn Back the YearsUPDATE: there is a new end date, in stead of using a fixed date, this contest will be over, when I finish the drawing. I will not post any WIP, so it could be this month, next month, end of this year, next year
Almost end of the year, time for a new contest. A lot of entries were posted for my last one, and I am at this moment busy at drawing the prices for the 2 winners. So it's a good time for something different and new...
I have been working for about 3 weeks on my new drawing now. Nothing on paper yet, but I have been creating my reference in Photoshop. I call it 'Beauty and the Beast' for now, but that is just a working title.
There is a big difference with my other work. There I just use a photo created by fellow artists on dA. For this one, I had an image in my head that would not be easy to find in a single reference. Therefore I worked for already about 10 hours on creating my own, using multiple sources.
How did I ca

The Then & Now Feature.:iconshakecancerplz:The Then & Now Feature.2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The idea for this feature has developed over the past month or so, triggered by the comments we all get from time to time, like; "'I'll never be able to draw like that" or "I wish I could learn how to do that".
Also around a month ago I was asked a few questions by a very sweet, polite 16 year old girl on here who was extremely grateful that I took the time to answer her.
To cut a long story short, I've taken this girl under my wing in the hope of giving her the encouragement and feedback she lacks from those around her and also to develop her skills and knowledge to the point where she feels confident enough to experiment and grow on her own.
So, this feature is mainly for those just starting out in the world of graphite along with those doubting that they could ever improve beyond their current level and is just a very small selection of graphite artists I both admire and aspire to become as good as. All were chosen for this feature due
Merry Christmas, and Happy HolidaysHello everybody,Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays1 year ago in Personal More Like This
A big hug to all my stubborn watchers, and a welcome hug to all new ones... It's almost the end of a year. A big year for me, to say the least. In my professional life, I have been making some exiting new stuff, which hopefully will pay off the next year. In my free time, I have been drawing. It's even difficult for myself to believe I have been drawing for only for a year now.
Comments and reactions have been so helpful, and motivating to pursue my dream of traditional drawing. When I started a year ago, I gave myself 2 years to strengthen my drawing skills. I must be honest and admit that I did not expect for myself, that after a year, I would already produce the stuff I am drawing now.
It must be something that was hiding in myself, and I must also give credit and applause to a lot of people on dA who have been so supporting and caring this last year.
So, for them, I want to share some great drawings from these amazing, and

which states clear cut facts so as to why the whole issue about someone faking their art creates rage waves through the art community!
The last week has been a riot which ended up in me getting blocked by two deviants here who clearly have something to hide!
I obviously care much less about the fact that there are many artists here on dA who get more famous than others considering the skill work. Some people get lucky and some don't. It's not easy getting known around this site.
But the fact that people would want to fake art to get accolades makes me angrier than ever.
Here are two examples on what happens when you try to confront artists whom you are suspicious about!
Example 1- The "awesome":iconnatmorley:
Now now Bratnorley) , you don't need to get all worked up for a single comment there do you?
You obviously think we are all stupid people here who don't really see what you are doing? The scr

Hello Traditional Artists
Today was the last day of my commission contest. I'm very thankful to all who have participated for their kindness and good will. I have chosen 3 works to buy as it was my primal intention and soon I'll be contacting the authors so we can agree on the terms of purchase.
I was contacted to extend the contest period, but as you can easily understand, this is not a regular contest: I think that any of you, traditional artists reading this, who have the will to produce a piece accordingly the rules below can contact me any time to show me a WIP or a finished work. If I like the piece, I'll buy it
Also below (scroll down to the end of the article) you can find my favourite works, wonderful pieces, just like I was looking for.
For now I'll remove the references I don't want any more but I'll keep the others available until the end of January 2013, so you are welcome to use them as I'm still commissioning you!
Thank you to all

Today I am calling all of you graphite traditional realist artists. You, who take pride in drawing very realistic, photo-like. You think your drawings are good? Think again!
I envy you. Graphite and I have never been friends, and most of my watchers know it. I can't draw as well as you do using graphite. And I admire you.
And that is why I challenge you to participate in my new contest: The Graphite Challenge 2012!
Take a look at my photo:
Before you decide to accept the challenge and draw it, read the rules. Failure to comply with them will get your drawing rejected.
RULES OF THE GRAPHITE CHALLENGE 2012:
1. You must draw the photo above using graphite pencils over white paper. Yes, erasers, tortillions and blending stumps are allowed. No other traditional technique or digital art will be allowed.
2. You must draw 100% of the photo, with the same aspect ratio of 3:2. Cropping the original picture is not allowed. You may extend the margins, th
Fake art by Natmorley!Hi my friends!Fake art by Natmorley!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Yep, another Journal about :iconnatmorley:
This is not meant to start a witchhunt, immature harrassment on her profile won't help anything!
Regarding her latest Journal, I asked some questions.
I wonder if she'll answer any of them...Of course, she didn't answer them
So, what's the fuss about her?
Her drawings are fake, simply as that.
How could you tell?
She makes a scribbly drawing and overlays the original photo in PS to make the shading, hair etc. look better. (OR she prints out the photo and scribbles over it, whatsoever...)
You can always make out some "ghosty shadows" in her works, these are the remainings of the original photo that she just couldn't hide properly.
Is there any proof?
Here's a older drawing of her (which she already deleted ) where you can clearly

A Cup of Creativity Challenge! My last challenge (The CCC - The Crayon Creation Challenge) turned out to be a load of fun and produced some unbelievable artworks! I thought it was time to do a new challenge. From the poll, there seem to be plenty of you to take partA Cup of Creativity Challenge!1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What's the point?
* For fun
* For the challenge
* To try something new with a non standard medium
* I'll feature everyone on my page for a week with the art from this challenge
* For my favourite piece, I'll give away my coffee creation as a prize (and if it sucks, I'll do you a drawing instead)
What are the rules?
* Paint a portrait using coffee as your medium and nothing else (well, maybe a tiny bit of graphite for your sketch and tiny touches of your choice of white/black medium for highlighting/darkening choice areas, but that's it!) Your art must be at least 90% coffee.
* Paint whoever you like, but it must be a painting that you have put time into; I won't accept halfhearted or obviously rushed entr
