Interview with NassaeThis week, we are very proud to introduce one of our very own staff members. *Nassae has remained mysterious even for us (the staff members) but not anymore! Now we get to read more about her and share the secrets with you guys. Awesome, right?Interview with Nassae1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Hi! Thanks for accepting to be interviewed by us today, can you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
Hello! I’m Lucinda but I usually use the name Nassae on dA and other online communities.
I am a science student who loves nature and, of course, a miniature crafter who loves art. ☺
Why did you choose the name *Nassae? is there a meaning to that name or is it completely random?
I made this name up a few years ago. I wanted to find a name that “feels” like me and sounds good at the same time. I didn’t look for the meaning though.
Later I found out that nassae are actually a kind of nests used for catching fish. The pronunciation is different from wha
Patterns at BronyCon and Beta Testing Soon...I want to remind folks who are gonna be at BronyCon that :iconFetchBeer: is taking a bunch of my pony patterns to sell at BronyCon because I can't be there (and because he's super awesome!). So go find him at the con and give him a hug for me!Patterns at BronyCon and Beta Testing Soon...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I'm hard at work on the Filly & Colt pattern. Most of you have probably already seen the prototypes I put up a few days ago.
I've got the text part of the instructions written and I'm working on the illustrations. I'm trying to include more illustrations for some of the steps that have confused people in the past, but I'm not terribly good at drawing, so it's a bit challenging. I'm learning a lot more about Inkscape than I ever wanted to, that's for sure.
The beta is set to start on the 30th. I've got three testers who are going to be sewing and a half dozen people who've agreed to read and edit, so hopefully they can find all my terrible mistakes!
I'm looking forward to having the pattern writing finished so I can go back

My laptop charger is broken and won't work unless I hold it at a certain angle, it's quite annoying. I recently just got my old laptop out from some boxes so I can start to use it for my art and design class. I also would love to buy the full version of SAI to get me started on my course.
I'll be opening one doll commission, I have the wire, stuffing and polymer clay on the way in the mail so all you''ll have to pay for is the fur, glass eyes (optional) and shipping! also if you'd like me to make any accessories then I think that might cost extra omfg
I've gotten much better at sewing so I'm really confident about making dolls on commission now, I know I have other commissions to do but hh I really need that laptop charger.
I buy my supplies from www.mohairbearmakingsupplies.co.uk

Food. Polymer clay food. There's a strange fascination between polymer clay crafters to make food, if you ask many of us won't even be able to explain what's so addictive about making fake food. Some of it is crafted for doll houses and doll props, some people make beautiful jewelry with food, but some just make it because it's so incredibly fun.
BJD Doll FAQBJD Doll FAQ3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Please read this if you are interested to learn more about the dolls I photograph. I dont have time to keep answering the same questions over and over again >_< I will be updating this journal entry as time goes on. Feel free to add a question in the comments section and I will try to answer it.
What are these dolls?
They are BJD - ball jointed dolls. If you search Google with those keywords you will get plenty of results with companies and other info about them. This is the Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball-jointed_doll. Also this LJ answers some questions too http://bjd-wtf.livejournal.com/ . If you want to learn more, I would suggest Den of Angels forum (http://www.denofangels.com/forums/).
Do you make them?
No I don't make the actual doll, I don't sculpt it. I am a customizer, I paint their faceups. I am basically a makeup artist for resin dolls. You can find the link to my commission sh

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi there! On the internet I'm known as Fimochu, and I live in England. I'm very socially awkward, but I love animals and nature. I've always loved crafts; drawing, sculpting, painting and anything else creative. One day, I'm hoping to pursue a career involving art.
Describe to us your creative process?
First I usually have an idea. I look through my notes and sketchbooks, where I record ideas for new clay projects. My favourite stage is making the piece, and I tr

Please tell us a little bit about yourself. Can you tell us where the name *FatalPotato originates from? It's a very interesting name.
Hello! I'm an awkward high school student from Eugene, Oregon. I have two darling kitties named Leftfoot and Sammy. I am absolutely terrified of spiders, but I adore skulls () and surrealism. The name FatalPotato was created through a silly middle school obsession with potatoes...haha...exciting story, yes?
How did you discover this kind of craft? What made you start working on miniatures?
My dear mother bought be a pack of white Sculpey polymer clay when I was three or four and I have loved it ever since. The first thing I made was a marshmallow Disproportionate food has always been a fascinating subject to me, bu

FAQWhat are your sculptures made of?FAQ2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's called Premo Sculpey. It is just my preferred brand of Sculpey. It is an oven bake, polymer clay. You can bake your pieces right in your home oven, so you really don't need any big expensive equipment! You can pick up Sculpey at most arts and craft stores. I get mine at Michaels and Joanns. I don't buy online so unfortunately I can't recommend any sites.
Why Premo Sculpey? Isn't it more expensive than normal Sculpey III?
It does cost more, but I usually stock up when there are sales. It is much stronger than regular Sculpey, and has a firmer consistency. Normal Sculpey tends to be too soft most of the time and really likes to hold fingerprints.
What about Super Sculpey?
I use that too on occasion. It is the strongest Sculpey, but only comes in that ugly beige color. I prefer to work with colored clays whenever possible. I only use Super Sculpey when I really need the extra strength on a delicate sculpture.
Ok, so why color
