The Greatest Experiment in Capitalism: AnalyzedWhat gives the government the right to forcibly redistribute wealth from the rich to fulfill the needs of the poor? The Greatest Experiment in Capitalism: Analyzed3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The above seems to be the battle cry of many free market idealists, which inspired me to write this article. Surprisingly, many people who offer this contention aren't rich, and are unwitting beneficiaries of government control.
My initial thought was a bit cheeky. The middle class is currently paying about 50% of their income in taxes, while the rich pay about 15%. The rich buy politicians to keep it this way. What gives a rich person the right to steal from the middle class not for their needs but for sport?
Although there is a lot of truth to that, it's still important to address the main point: the aversion to the government using force to redistribute wealth. This sounds good in concept, and if you keep it in abstract terms it's hard to disagree with it. However, the supe

That's when you run into it.
A black monolithic square box that almost takes up all your monitor space when you look at it. It's huge, unappealing, artistic only to a hardcore Andy Warhol, and it has a message it want to share with you. A "cry" for help that screams like a teenager who watches too much angsty anime and listens to too much Linkin Park and Evanescence. You wonder who the hell made this ugly travesty and how it got to the TOP of the most popular in the last eight hours category.
You click to the artist's gallery: THEY'RE EVERYWHERE, And all of them have immense amounts of views and likes. Comments are not allowed on any of them. Those who speak their mind and dislike this account are blocked.

To add your name onto the list, just leave a comment below including your country and state or city. For example: "England, London" or "USA, Arizona". You must also include how many plushies you are willing to accept from other senders (must be at least 1) and where you are willing to send to (e.g. 'Within USA' or 'Anywhere').
To send your plushie to a participant, note them with your request. If they agree, you're good to go! If they don't agree, please don't take offence!!
It is advised that you send plushies in a padded envelope rather than a box as it is much cheaper to send!!

So I did something I never thought I'd doI read my writing out loud in front of my class. So I did something I never thought I'd do1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I won't say what it was, but it's one of the poems on here that is extremely personal to me. I managed to read all the way through it and then I freaked out and ran out of the room. I hid in the bathroom for twenty minutes, crying and panicking and thinking things like, "Fuck, this is so humiliating! Why did I do that? Not only will they know how shitty my writing is, but they now know how I really feel!" I was terrified. Absolutely terrified.
And then one of my classmates walked into the bathroom. She coaxed me out of the stall and helped calm me down and hugged me and said that as soon as I ran out of the room, everyone basically said, "Holy shit. That was one of the best things I've ever heard." She walked me back to the room (I was shaking and still crying and I felt like I was going to die fuck I was so scared) and 20+ people who I never thought would ever react to poetry--especially mine--were smiling at me. Everyone, includi

Free Gender DirectiveThe binary system of "Male" and "Female" is effective, but limited. It provides tools context and meaning. This translates to life in terms of "what actions are open to me, and which are closed."Free Gender Directive2 years ago in Personal More Like This
As a society that claims liberty and the pursuit of happiness as its main tenets, I feel it is my duty to claim whichever activities I like best, and disregard gender claims altogether.
Equally important, however, is the gentleness and understanding that goes with disregarding convention and being sensitive to how such abandon affects others.
To all my brothers and sisters who supersede this binary system, lets do our very best!

Phil Fish Hacked
Phil Fish, the creator of FEZ, is pretty much universally hated by people online. Recently he spoke out in favor of Zoe Quinn, creator of Depression Quest, who was herself under fire from internet thought police for “corrupting” games journalism’s integrity by sleeping with journalists to get favorable reviews of her game (allegations which later proved to be untrue). Because he spoke out in favor of Zoe Quinn, Phil found himself under a massive internet attack, wherein hackers compromised his SSI, passwords, Polytron's PayPal account, and other sensitive data.
In the wake of the attack, Phil Fish is now selling off the rights to FEZ and to Polytron. He left with this rather depressing twitter message: “I
My Sessions with MarkMark O'Brien, a poet, journalist, and friend of mine, was confined to an iron lung. But his mind was free.My Sessions with Mark2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Mark O'Brien's iron lung, his "breathing machine," was a whooshing 650-pound cylinder, the mustard yellow of kitchen appliances in the 1970s. It was hard to miss in his small Berkeley apartment. On its side was taped a notice: "This porthole may be opened should you feel the need to a) touch, b) tickle, c) feel up the person residing within. —The Management." Several visitors had availed themselves of the opportunity, prompting his wry response: "It pays to advertise."
Mark, a poet and journalist who died in 1999 at 49, was well known in the 1980s and 1990s in Berkeley as a disability activist. Stricken by polio at age six, he was unable to move from the neck down. It took unusual abilities for him to live a richly creative life in that condition. I never stopped asking myself how he managed it, a question that is addressed in the 2012 film The Sessions, in which John Hawkes

NerdcrafteriaI'm a nerdfighter and if you don't know what a nerdfighter is you can watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyQi79aYfxUNerdcrafteria2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But one of the coolest things about nerdfighteria is that we have our own minecraft server called... wait for it: Nerdcrafteria!
Nerdcrafteria is one of the most awesome Minecraft servers I have ever participated in. The server is broken up into several different worlds. The Main World, The Nether, Minington, and Gladitorial. All of the worlds have borders around them preventing players from roaming too far and making the strain on the server too much to handle, but all of the worlds are also massive enough that you likely won't notice.
The Various Worlds
The main world is where towns and cities exist. You cannot break blocks here except on town plots that you purchase with the server's equivalent to money = Llamas. This helps prevent griefers from destroying all your hard work and gives you a place to call home. If you don't have enough
A Brief History of Marvel's Film RightsSome people took interest in this from my last journal ( Spider-Man and the Avengers ) so I thought I’d try to explain it better here. Please keep in mind that this is a SUPER CONDENSED version of events that took place (starting 60 years ago) that led to the convoluted mess that is currently Marvel’s various film franchises. Also keep in mind that I will be using industry shorthand like saying “comic book industry” to refer to the American comic book industry giants of Marvel and DC, because that’s how we do things here. Anyway, here we go!A Brief History of Marvel's Film Rights6 months ago in Personal More Like This
“Seduction of the Innocent” comes out (a moral panic book which blames comics for kid’s wayward negative behavior), massive book burnings and censorship of comics ensues. Old comics burned or lost, thus increasing the value of the few comics that remain.
Back to Square One (Minor Edit)EDIT: I added a few more little things, including a link for people who were asking questionsBack to Square One (Minor Edit)6 months ago in Personal More Like This
I’m sorry that the last journal seemed to upset so many people. It was meant as a cleansing of views and people around me that might introduce toxicity in my life. But I can totally understand how some people took it very personally, or felt that I worded it poorly. You are absolutely right, and for that transgression I am sorry.
With that in mind, I felt it might be a good idea to just give a refresher course on important personal rules, opinions, or views I have so that we’re ALL on the same playing field on where/what/who I stand for. So this is going to be a very BLUNT and DRY list of stuff about me and my opinions. I hope that it helps clear any confusions and I will be happy to elaborate on anything if you ask me in the comments section.

I watched the first episode and I won’t spoil anything for you here. Suffice to say it was a little more lackluster than I anticipated it would be for a season starting episode. I understand they’re setting up a LOT of stuff (with the 3 year time jump), but overall I felt kinda blah about this episode. I hope it gets better. I think the next episode is going to examine what happened to Korra during those 3 years and that sounds like it’s gonna be awesome. So here’s hoping!
DC Apologizes for Offensive T-Shirts
This little news story broke out over the week. DC unveiled 2 new official t-shirts. The first depicted Superman kissing Wonder Woman with the title “SCORE!” over his head. The other was a Batman shirt that read “Training to be Batman’s Wife.” I have less issue with the batman shirt than I do the Wonder Woman shirt, because it’s pretty indicative of wh
