A Faggot's View on Gay Art(WARNING: I will be using art off of deviantart itself as examples, if you stumble upon your art here and would like me to remove it, please, let me know)A Faggot's View on Gay Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I began having many a deep conversation with a buddy of mine, and I brought to light an issue of mine, my lack of satisfaction with a majority of art with homosexual themes. And I've come to my conclusion after quite a bit of thinking. It's dull, it's objectifying, and it tends to be more for shock value then authentic.
Let's begin with the idea of it's dullness. This is more my view, and the rest being why it's dull to me.
Art like this, for example, I fail to find sexy, or even empowering. Not only does it hit too close to the uncanny valley (a concept that was introduced in robotics; that the more realistic something is, the more it creates various emotions in a person, however there's a point between fake and real where realistic is actually creepier then unrealistic) for my comfort, but it's objectifying, look at

Because I really think it's happening.

In the world as we know it, there is this rule of balance that is in every aspect of life. Call it Karma or Homeostasis, this rule cannot be broken. There are those, however, who would try to break it. This is called cheating, and it elicits both intensely negative and positive responses when it is seen.

Self Portrait Challenge!Ok, so this is kinda linking back with something I thought about doing aages ago. But the main idea came from talking with some of you lovely people and the comments from this journal here: http://fav.me/d61xe9iSelf Portrait Challenge!2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The power of self-perception, and the confidence (or lack thereof) you gain from it, does affect how you act and the choices you make in your life. And no I'm not talking about the whole "you are beautiful" thing so much as, how you see and percieve yourself. How we see ourselves is completely different to how other people see us.
I do notice this a lot, being a stock artist and having lots of artists draw me. One was worried that I'd be offended that he drew my legs a little large or something like that. Hell, doesn't bother me. Draw me as you see me, as how you percieve me, as how you want your art to turn out. The rest is superfluous really, since I play a character in my stock sets and none of them are really set as a piece to show me as well, me.
So that's my idea. Kinda l

What is the 'Love Your Characters' Project?
The LYC project is a way for people to appreciate and love their characters, be it characters they use a lot or characters that aren't used at all. You could even use it as a way to love the characters you don't like anymore, be re-modelling and re-introducing them!
What do I have to do to take part?
The point of the project is to pick a character you own and showcase them! This could mean drawing them a lot more, drawing them with other people's characters, designing outfits etc for them, having them on your icon/journal header, commission pictures of themů.whatever you like! As long as it includes the character you've chosen, you're good!
Can I draw my other characters and still participate?
Definitely! You can still draw whatever and whoever you like. But the point of the project is to

Teen Titans: Birthmark Screenshots! For some time now, I've been wanting to do a picture of Raven from the Teen Titan's episode "Birthmark". Somehow I've just not gotten to it. Well today I decided to fix that, and started looking for some screenshots from the show for research. And...ugh. Nearly every screenshot I found was worthless. Having no choice, I pulled out my Season 4 DVD of Teen Titans and decided to grab some shots myself. (I even photoshopped a few images that were camera panning shots to make one image) Since it was a process, and maybe others have had this same frustration, I decided to upload a few of my shots for everyone. Hope this helps out! Enjoy.Teen Titans: Birthmark Screenshots!3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Let's face it. There's a lot of things on dA that don't really belong here. This is an art site for people to share their artwork. It's not here just so you can use it to find a girlfriend/boyfriend and flirt. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with internet relationships. I met my gf here and we're doing fine. What I mean is when people constantly go around harassing others, asking if they're single, asking if they'll be their bf/gf without even really knowing them first, making sexual advances, etc. This is not the place for that, nor is YouTube, Facebook, whatever.
Just as in life outside the internet, it's best to develop a good friendship with someone before you make that step for safety's sake and also you'll probably have a better chance of keeping the relationship for a longe

So Nintendo released this today: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=316135481893472&id=224173137756374
In case you didn’t go check it out, it’s a screenshot of a costume option for Zero Suit Samus which has her dressed in basically a sports-bra outfit. An obvious nod to the “Justin Bailey” code from the original Metroid (or Zero Suit Mission but honestly who cares?).
I honestly wish I could get mad over this, but I’m frankly just sick and tired of this kinda crap. I already apparently “offended” people with my rants about her ugly ass high-heel-boots several months ago, and I don’t wish to go through with that again. Not to mention there does come a point where complaining about “fanservice” in a game ALL ABOUT FANSERVICE becomes kinda... gauche.
Just for the record though, I am not against this outfit per say. There is nothing wrong with wearing sports

Art thief: sukibelle (sukibelle.deviantart.com)
Sukibelle has basically stolen/ripped off my OC's design to make her own character.
My heartbby OC: Hinata
Sukibelle's stolen/ripped off character that she made: Delight
***Delight was designed by sukibelle. Wolphfe did not design Delight at all. And Delight was not a MYO.
For easier reading, all conversations reads from top to bottom, top for the earliest notes.
On June 24,2014, I won my heartbby bunny OC which I named Hinata in wolphfe's auction for $401. (Yes, I was crazy because I really wanted this heartbby a lot)
On the last day of the auction, I received notes from sukibelle asking me if I can trade this heartbby bunny if I won him. But I refused her offers because I want to finally be able to get a heartbby on my own without having to trade with others for one. Notice that suki

The Greatest Experiment in Capitalism: AnalyzedWhat gives the government the right to forcibly redistribute wealth from the rich to fulfill the needs of the poor? The Greatest Experiment in Capitalism: Analyzed3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The above seems to be the battle cry of many free market idealists, which inspired me to write this article. Surprisingly, many people who offer this contention aren't rich, and are unwitting beneficiaries of government control.
My initial thought was a bit cheeky. The middle class is currently paying about 50% of their income in taxes, while the rich pay about 15%. The rich buy politicians to keep it this way. What gives a rich person the right to steal from the middle class not for their needs but for sport?
Although there is a lot of truth to that, it's still important to address the main point: the aversion to the government using force to redistribute wealth. This sounds good in concept, and if you keep it in abstract terms it's hard to disagree with it. However, the supe

i have seen in my life many artists who proclaimed they want to develop their skills, and kept bashing on everyone and everything on the way....and for some reason those guys never got anywhere...
here is why..
there is a value to different approaches, different styles. realism, manga , cartooney disney, my little pony, furries....don't waste your time tryint to bash any of the stuff you don't personally like
you are missing out, bigtime!
see there is a reason why that stuff is popular. and by that i mean on the visual side. so instead of flaming , trolling and bashing, try understanding the inner workings of it.
here are some specific examples
realism- it is a wonderfully complex base , reflects one's skill in capturing reality, but in it there are differences between photo referenced, real life work and no reference. ALL HAVE THEIR VALUE AND IMPORTANCE! from photos you can learn alot, gain analytic skills, develop an attention to
Family Guy + Rape Culture, Digital Animal AbuseIn my last journal I apparently touched a few people off by saying that I didn’t like rape jokes in Family Guy, and that I was upset that a digital mutant lizard was killed in the trailer for Mad Max. There were a number of people who didn’t find those things to be offensive and couldn’t seem to understand why I personally would get so upset. “Family Guy has ALWAYS had rape jokes” or “It’s not even a real animal” being the typical response. So let’s try to address this stuff...Family Guy + Rape Culture, Digital Animal Abuse1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Family Guy and Rape Culture
Before we begin we need to set some definitions so that we’re all on the same page.
Rape culture is a phrase used to describe a culture in which rape is pervasive and normalized due to societal attitudes about gender, sex, and sexuality. Examples of behaviors commonly associated with rape culture include victim blaming, sexual objectification, trivializing rape, denial of widespread rape, or

Thoughts on 'The Hunger Games'Yesterday it was my sisters Birthday and she got "The Hunger Games" on DVD. She is a big fan of the books and had been really looking forward on seeing it. I watched it with her and my family and left it, slightly confused. I didn't know if I liked it or not - which is odd because normally after seeing something I'm pretty clear on my thoughts. Don't get me wrong the movie itself was excellent. The direction, the acting, the actions, the script seemed pretty good. What I was confused about was the story.Thoughts on 'The Hunger Games'3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I told my sister this. She suggested I try the reading the first book. She said the movie was pretty close to the book, but the book might help me fill in the blanks some plots skimmed over and maybe might help me make up my mind about the film.
So today I picked up "The Hunger Games" novel and read it. I have to say that it's one of those novels you can't put down
