REVIEW - DOCTOR WHO - THE DAY OF THE DOCTORSweet mother of Rassilon . . . . . . . where to start ?.REVIEW - DOCTOR WHO - THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Well, for one thing, I absolutely bloody loved. It was a terrific story. I personally feel that Moffat wanted to use this story as a way of making it up to us fan's for the screw up's his done in the past, like introducing those bloody Paradigm Daleks of his back in 2010's series 5 episode 'Victory of the Daleks', which I'm sure has never escaped his attention that so many of fan's hate the 'Power Ranger Daleks' as many of us have nicknamed them in the past . . . . all if forgiven Moffat, all is forgiven.
Was not expecting the original opening theme and intro of Doctor Who to start the story, that was very unexpected. And, it seems that Clara is now working as a Teacher at Coal Hill School, the very School the Doctor's Granddaughter Susan Foreman used to be a pupil there. Nice to see it again after all this time, as the old School hasn't been revisited since 1988's 'Remembrance of the Daleks' 25 years ago [the year of my bi

A strange force flings the TARDIS and the Doctor into our own universe! Once here, the Doctor encounters a 10-year-old girl who happens to be a huge fan of the Doctor Who TV show. The Doctor grapples with being a fictional character as well as and a monster lurking at the girl's school on the way to coming face-to-face with the actor who portrays him, Matt Smith!.
This is the outline for a brand new IDW Doctor Who special comic-strip due out at the end of 2013.
This story is being written by Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell with artwork done by Jimmy Broxton.

My hopes for Doctor Who - Series 8 in 2014When series 8 eventually appears on our screens in 2014, we'll be seeing Peter Capaldi's face and name in the title sequance, and seeing him in his own Doctors clothes . . . . . . . which we've yet to see !!My hopes for Doctor Who - Series 8 in 20142 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here's my hopes for the 8th series of Doctor Who.
THE SONIC SCREWDRIVER
Hope Peter's Doctor will make less use of the Sonic Screwdriver by using it occasionally during the series like Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker used too in the good old days when it was really necessary to use it and not just brandish it out and wiz it around for no apparent reason which I feel Matt Smith's Doctor does a lot for no good reason.
It's also been used to get the Doctor out of a tight squeeze far too easily. The writers should be using their initiative and coming up with ways to get the Doctor out of tight situations without resorting to using the Sonic Screwdriver, cos it seems to me as if the writers can't use their brains to think up interesting and realistic ways of getting the Doctor out of a pick
Doctor Who Review - The Name of the DoctorSo . . . . . . . . the Doctor's real name was never revealed . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . THANK CHRIST !! :icongrin--plz:Doctor Who Review - The Name of the Doctor2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm so glad, otherwise I would be hating Steven Moffat forever right about now. Seems the title of this episode is not what we thought it ment, not what is the Doctor's real name, but rather what being called the Doctor stands for, so it seems we've all misinterpreted the meaning of the title.
So Clara has been around all this time in Doctor Who and yet we never knew. But now it seems the Doctor not only stole his Tardis with Susan [and the Tardis herself stole him as revealed in 'The Doctor's Wife'] but it seems Clara told him to steal that Tardis too !!!!!!!, but hang about, how did she know it was the Tardis that we know to be the Doctor's ?, cos it was standing beside other Tardis's in their un-disguised forms, so I'm baffled by that bit.
But yeah, she's been there for the Doctor since the day he left Gallifrey and we've never known. So it seems she's a
Doctor Who - Racism of the DaleksDon't worry, it's not the title of the next Dalek story or anything of the sort [not sure if the BBC would ever allow the title for an actual Dalek story anyway], but it's something I want to talk about.Doctor Who - Racism of the Daleks2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was thinking today about what I feel the Dalek's seem to be lacking in today's series of Doctor Who . . . . . . and it's Racism.
They seem to be lacking it, or whatever it is I'm trying to say I'm not entirely sure, but when it comes to making them scary, surely it's their in-breed Racism that's lacking I feel.
Back in 2010's 'Victory of the Daleks' we where introduced to the god awful Paradigm Daleks, and instead making the Daleks scary and more fearful then ever, they seem to become big softies in appearance, like enormous plastic toys. . . . . a laughing stock if you will.
But if we look back on the Dalek stories we've had over the years since 1963, it seems to me that they lack Racism, or displaying Racism rather in their behavior, because surely shouting out "EX-TER-MIN-ATE !!"
Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who - 2010-2013As I'm sure many of you are well aware by now, the 11th Doctor himself, Matt Smith, is leaving Doctor Who at the end of this year, to regenerate into a 12th actor as the all brand new 12th Doctor in this years 2013 Christmas Special.Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who - 2010-20132 years ago in Personal More Like This
I found out last night when I was in bed at around 10:30pm trying to nod off, and my sister shouts from her bedroom door "HERE JASON - MATT SMITH IS LEAVING DOCTOR WHO !!!!!". I went into her bedroom and she showed me the following that was posted on the BBC's Official Doctor Who website -
The BBC is today announcing that Matt Smith is to leave Doctor Who after four incredible years on the hit BBC One show. Matt first stepped into the TARDIS in 2010 and will leave the role at the end of this year after starring in the unmissable 50th Anniversary in November and regenerating in the Christmas special. During his time as the Doctor, Matt has reached over 30 million unique UK viewers and his incarnation has seen the show go truly global. He was also the first

Isn't it amazing how far we've come with Doctor Who since the show returned on Saturday 26th March 2005 with the new series starting off with Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper as the Doctor and Rose Tyler !!
Back then, many people where not certain if the new series would last beyond series 1, considering that the show had been off air since 1989, leaving us with a long 16 years gap between 1989 and 2005 in what we called 'The Wilderness Years' which thank Russell T. Davies we no longer live in . . . . but since series 1, Doctor Who has since been going from strength to strength and is now more popular then it has ever been in it's long 50 year history, hell, it's even dominated America since the Matt Smith era [they love Doctor Who in the States, I wouldn't be so surprised if some, if not many, have turned their backs on American Science Fiction and Fantasy shows like 'Star Trek' or 'Buffy the Vampire Sla

11th Doctor Matt Smith to quit Doctor Who ?FIRSTLY . . . . . I don't believe a word of this story that Ive just read on the Sun Newspapers website. Other sites such as the BBC's Official Doctor Who website, Doctor Who Online, The Doctor Who Site or Blogtor Who have said NOTHING of the sort what so ever either, but according to the Sun, Matt Smith is to leave Doctor Who as the current 11th Doctor at Christmas this year after being in the role for 4 years.11th Doctor Matt Smith to quit Doctor Who ?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here's what they had to say -
Doctor Who bosses are lining up Matt Smith's exit for Christmas — when he will regenerate into the 12th Time Lord.
Insiders say the festive special will be Matt's last outing as The Doctor, after a triumphant four years in the role.
The actor has made no bones about his ambition to crack Hollywood and has filmed new movie How To Catch A Monster with Ryan Gosling, which is released next year.
Sources say bosses already have an idea of who they want to replace him, with work on the special due to get under way later in the year.
Matt's contract is un

It's taken quite some time for my brain to assimilate [assimilate ?, what am I, a fricken Borg drone now ?] all this new information to understand entirely what happened during the last 10 or so minutes of the Day of the Doctor, but now that we know Gallifrey never really got destroyed, and the Time lord's never really did get wiped out, then this could mean a whole load of new and wonderful things could be happening during the next 50 years of Doctor Who.
Firstly, the Doctor. If you read my Journal's, you might recall that I mentioned in a recent one that I said the Doctor would be getting a complete new life cycle of regenerations. I learned today, thanks to the Sun newspaper, who did give a spoiler warning, but I couldn't resist reading it, how the Doctor will gain a complete new life cycle of regenerations, but I won't tell how, cos I wouldn't wa

It involves the scene where the Doctor and 3 Thal's discover an inactive Dalek.
The Thal Scientist Codal want's to study the Dalek futher, and says "Let's lift off the top section", only for the Doctor to suddenly reply -
"No don't do that! . . . . now most Daleks have an inbuilt distress signal. Even when deactivated, the transmitter may keep functioning".
Now why would most Dalek mutants travel inside their travel machines with distress signal transmitters built into them, but not all of them ?. Surely all Dalek travel machines would have distress signal transmitters built into them during manufacture before the Dalek creatures themselves are placed inside.
Imagine if a couple of Daleks didn't have a distress signal transmitter built into their casings -

God save our Emperor Dalek!
Long live our evil Emperor Dalek!
God save the Emperor Dalek!
Send him victorious,
Destructive and glorious,
Long to reign supremly over us:
God save The Emperor Dalek!
O Lord our Emperor Dalek arise,
Exterminate his enemies,
And make them fall:
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix:
Save the Daleks!
Thy choicest gifts in store,
On his be pleased to pour;
Long may he reign:
May he defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To exterminate with hate and voice
God save the Emperor Dalek!

But I'd rather instead not see a multi-Doctor story, but rather something that features the return of Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor, cos I feel that it's not really fair on him that Paul has never really been asked to appear in the new series as far as I am aware, after all these years since his one off appearance in the 1996 TV Movie.
All that Paul has ever done since regarding his 8th Doctor is voicing him for the Big Finish audio adventures, but that's it, just his voice, never a full screen, in costume appearance on TV since the movie.
I must admit to not being a big fan of his Doctor, or the TV Movie itself for that matter, but I just can't help but feel sorry to Paul not having been asked to come back and portray his Do

Oh well. But at least a 40-odd year old mystery of what they look like underneath their helmet has finally be answered. Not quite what I expected.
Only problem I have with the Ice Warrior in today's episode of Doctor Who is the voice, just sounded wrong, it should be all wheezing, like someone who's smoked too many cigarette's, not someone who's got out of the wrong side of bed.
Bring back Davros for Dr Who's 50th Anniversary !!Just finished going through all the letters in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine [459, May 2013 issue], and I came across this very interesting one I quite agree with, written by Ryan Pollard from Marsden in Huddersfield -Bring back Davros for Dr Who's 50th Anniversary !!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Like everyone else, I', certainly looking forward to the 50th Anniversary . But there is one enemy who needs to a triumphant return, and that's Davros !. He is my all time favourite baddie, and I do believe he is a bigger threat than any other monster or villain. Last time, he made a huge impact on the show, and I do believe it wouldn't quite be Doctor Who without him. I hope Steven Moffat brings him back. He is sorely missed.
I couldn't agree with you more Ryan
