Dark Nova Comic?feasibility and marketing study (informal)-Dark Nova Comic?2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Should we look into getting a Dark Nova comic, anime, manga, etc. developed using storylines either from the novels or that I cook up? How popular would it be? And who the HELL would be able/willing to do it?

Seeing good friends again......is like returning to #MD and writing to you. Or is it the reverse? If history tells, it's good to finally take some downtime and see how all of you are doing. And from what I can tell, you've been awesome. Not just great, but truly awesome.Seeing good friends again...7 months ago in Personal More Like This
I've been undergoing some huge events that tore me away from being around unlike years past. Details withheld, a new full-time career and moving to a new place, far from home and IRL friends, contributed to an overwhelmed schedule. And during that time, my deviantART inbox became the least of worries. That includes messages and news items some of you have sent me, and I though I remember who you are, I've let them slip. My sincerest of apologies.
Thankfully, I think I've finally settled down somewhat. And it's time to get a few events restarted here. Organize the tools and dust off the drawing board. Small steps at a time, but we'll do it together.
So first address is a new and old one: an honest "Thank you" for being true to your design-centr

It has been seven long years since Enterprise left the air, and though we've had the recent big screen adaptation of Gene Roddenberry's futuristic vision (and the sequel coming next year), we feel the true home of Star Trek is as a continuing episodic series. The goal of this project is to make that happen.
We, the team who brought you Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, are proud to announce Star Trek: Renegades, a professionally produced television pilot to be presented for a possible online series.
And the best part is YOU can play an important role in making this happen!

Earlier this month, I posted in my Journals http://gunnut51.deviantart.com/journal/?offset=1#/d5652g6 the following sentence...
"3. While I am in love with the concept of "being in love" and having that special someone, I don't think I am capable of being in love to that point."
Back in April, I ran into someone who I went to Junior High and High School with. (We had friended each other on :iconfbplz: two years ago, but nothing really happened.) Since April, we had started talking once every two weeks. (It was the holidays, her dad came in for surgery, she was playing nursemaid, etc) Then it was every week. Then every day. Afterwards, when he went home, we had one date. She then left for Vegas, again to assist her dad and mom while he was continuing to recover. We had talked maybe once a week then (only because of the time difference).

The Extinction of the Gentlemen.Hokage report,The Extinction of the Gentlemen.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
"I was riding a public utility bus. All seats were occupied, when a group of commuters entered the bus. Most of them were girls. As the bus started to travel the road, the girls are standing, holding tight among the bars. Thus, I stood up, offering my seat to one of them. The girl happily accepted. I was hoping that the guys sitting would do the same ..but none followed, it frustrated me"
Is it really that hard to be a gentleman in the 21st century, that a mere survival of such a knight is slim? Let me define a gentleman, well a gentleman is gentle + man (what? Can't think of any definition right now heh) ..Gentle means that he is proper, conservative, ethical, morale, and simply a nice guy altogether. As the age of romanticism grew, and the rights of women became equal to men, the guys in general, saw the girls as a subject of beauty, of a fragile vase, shining under the sun. Chivalry on that moment is the code of conduct of knights. With Chivalry, they are to
Ah, the joys of semi-retirement...Yes, not quite 40 and I am already semi-retired. Contracting pays well, and smart operators save up their sheckles, or do as I have done and pay for the big expenses- home, cars, college funds, retirement savings, etc.- up front. Granted, kinda slacking on that last one, hence why I am semi and not completely retiredAh, the joys of semi-retirement...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So, now I find myself writing full-time, both the novels and for Dark Nova Games, as well as being a stay-at-home dad to my daughters. It's only fair, I missed half of my toddler's life while I was in Iraq on my last deployment, trying to make it up to her and spare my youngest from going through that. That being said, I have to say that in 21 years of working in law enforcement, PMC contracting, executive protection and the military, NOTHING has been more stressful or rewarding than being a dad. I honestly had less stress and got more sleep in third world warzones than I do as a dad. I only half-joke when I say send my ass back to A-stan so I can get a vacation. VBIEDs
Free adviceSomeone recently asked me for some advice about going to art college and becoming an illustrator. Here's what I said. Maybe someone here will find this interesting too...Free advice1 year ago in Personal More Like This
1) It's a tough life as an artist. You need more than just good drawing abilities to get by. I know a lot of people who are WAY better than me but can't make it as artists. You need to be personable and likable. Work on your people skills and be sincere. People can tell when it's fake.
2) Learn a broad range of skills. Don't just focus on illustration, but also learn the fundamentals of design, sculpture, painting, storyboarding, etc... those skill will help you more than you can possibly imagine.
3) Be yourself. Find your own style and really refine it.
4) Don't waste your education. Don't go out and party and drink when you should be studying and doing homework. They give you that homework for a reason!
5) Always try to be the best. Challenge yourself to make your assignments the best in your class. Always try to be

I will eventually post stuff here on DA, but I felt the format of my blog lent itself better to an overview of the process, and to acknowledge some of the others involved. So I decided to begin with that out of consideration to the talented people I feel privileged to have worked with!
Feel free to have a look: http://steveburg.blogspot.com/
There is an "Art of" book, which I just got - and it's quite nice! But it contains only a fraction of the art generated for the project by myself and the other artists on the team.
I worked with a small group here in the US that included Steven Messing, David Levy, Ben Procter, Carlos Huante, Neville Page & Daniel Simon. And there are other artists who worked over in the UK when the film went into full production. So you can imagine quite a lot of artwork was generated!
Dark Nova Expansion KickstarterWell, we were a wee bit more successful in our quest to expand than we expected, and wound up with a LOT of international orders for the Dark Nova RPG. This ate into our budget for the print run for the expansions, as international shipping is obscene, especially for a four-and-a-half pound book. So, we've been trying to compensate by making up the difference with a kickstarter page for Fortune and Glory. We need another $600 and we're in the black again, so if any of you can help contribute, or pass this info along to those who might be able to, it would be greatly appreciated. We have a deadline of 18 days from now to pay the printers, so we're in a corner. We hate asking for help, but this project is worth it.Dark Nova Expansion Kickstarter1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Convention Schedule for 2012Due to Jeff's recovery from his head trauma and subsequent attempts to escape his artistic duties by dying (and he didn't even do it well, the slacker, never made it into a coffin before they revived him ), the convention appearances for 2012 have been altered a bit.Convention Schedule for 20121 year ago in Personal More Like This
Already did OwlCon, but as a head's up we will be doing it again next year. I'll post that when the 2013 schedule is finalized.
25-27 May, 2012- Comicpalooza, Houston, TX. Location: Artist's Alley and the Game Room, two tables. I'll be doing book signings, and something else I can't announce just yet. Jeff will be signing art prints and doing on-site commissions for everything from vessels to hot rods. Not sure what panels we'll be on as the new management of Comicpalooza is bad about updating us, they're too star-struck with the big name celebs and forgot about us lowly authors and artists
10-12 August, 2012- Space City Con, Houston, TX.

Why, you ask?
Because the official dA Twitter featured my fanfic!
That's right, they tweeted about Everlasting Snow, the 50th chapter!
Here's a direct link to the tweet: https://twitter.com/dA_fanart/status/299357197333327874
Just thought I'd share that with all of you. I'm freaking out, personally. I don't mean to be braggy or mean or anything. I'm just so honored. I'm seriously sitting here crying happy tears. Never in my wildest dreams...
And you know what? It's all of YOU that made this possible. I bow to you. Thank you so much for reading and all that you do. I write for the sake of writing, to perhaps add to the world of literature and to make something that people will enjoy, and it seems as though I have been successful thus far. And I have you to thank. So, once again, thank you. I LOVE YOU. :iconletmehugyouplz:
A special thanks to :iconSnowPrincess15: for telling me, I follow all the dA pages

I was just all... "HECK YES!! FROST IS GONNA BE IN MY TOWN, AWWWWWYEEEEEEAAAAHH."
For those who haven't seen already, I am back in school. What does this mean? Well, it means that Everlasting Snow chapters are probably going to be slow in coming. I'm predicting that that won't happen and I'll still get one or two out a day because I'm a master procrastinator. That, and we're so close to the end of the fiction, so it's kind of that "you're in the home stretch" kind of feeling.
Aah, yeah. That's right. It's ending. Coming to a close. I know, I know, it's sad for me too. If it weren't for the workload that I already have from school, I wouldn't know what to do after it's over. I know that I'm really going to miss it though...all the comments and stuffs. BUT IT'S NOT OVER YET, SO WHAT AM I SAYING.
No, I'm not planning on doing a sequel. I'll probably write another story once school is out,

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far! I would like to reiterate that I am looking for "cutting edge" stuff. I like some of the old designs that have a futuristic feel, such as Landmates from Appleseed, and all the Macross stuff, but I just can't consider a 20+ year old design to be cutting edge. Gundam definitely doesn't qualify.
Keep the links and suggestions coming! Here are some of the suggestions that I find intriguing...
* Linebarrels of Iron. I watched this series and the mechs are very cool. The designs have a freshness to them and the shapes are very interesting.
* The newer Front Mission and Armored Core games. These ser
