I joined Deviant Art I few years back bright eyed and hopeful. I tried to show case some talent I felt I had and over a period gained a handful of friends. Like most folks in the last several years the hard times came and with that I slowly faded away from this friendly art community. With some help from friends we reopen DreamOrchid's doors with a new website (www.dreamorchid.com), official DreamOrchid face book page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/DreamOrchid/189645937780364), and even a twitter account. Please feel free to like us if you wish. With all this said I'm back with a bang. I decided since I hit 20k views and with the renewal of a subscription to throw a contest. If anyone wishes to donate prizes to the list please send m

Cthulhu is Still Calling
Written By techgnotic
Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq

Happy Valentine's Day And...And stay well!I was thinking to close submission for a month or perhaps a week , but then i submitted my new arts & to check how are the groups working on Devianart , most of them got dead even the top ones , the good ones remaining are busy or slow in response , Most of them are indifferent a few response politely to be correct only 250 groups as a whole are working and some of the top ones believe in one art a month! so then seeing how things are around i felt to keep the group running even though i might not be around much for a week(cause of job stuff etc)Happy Valentine's Day And...And stay well!1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Taking your art to the next level in 2015!I am taking my art to the next level in 2015, who's with me?Taking your art to the next level in 2015!4 months ago in Personal More Like This
I want to fall in love with art all over again. Going through the painful process of growth as the art-bones stretch and your creativity get's set loose after wondering if you had any creativity at all!
2015 marks a new year and a new start, make the most of it and don't start it unprepared!
Here follows a list of things I'd like to do in 2015. You could call it a bucket-list. You can copy mine or make your own, but this might give you some ideas for yourself.
1. Going through all the fundamentals all over again.
It has been a few years that I studied any fundamentals and they seem to be lost somewhere in a dusty corner of my brain. I will buy: Books, video's, classes and study it by drawing or painting the knowledge I get from this. After doing so I will discus the topics with some fellow artist friends and see if they have feedback or perhaps anything to add that I might have missed.
Here is a

Unwatch me this moment, I don't want your faves, I don't want your comments, I don't want to know you as a person. I'm not interested in any sort of bigotry and/or ignorance happening on my page. Good day. If you aren't at least making an effort not be any of these things you may stay. But if you are consciously against equality of any sort, then really, just go now.
For all of my lovely watchers who support equality and human rights/justice, you may ignore this! I love you people. ^^

Wacom Horror Warning peopleI realized i just been living in a lie. Been coloring with the wrong icc profile for almost 6 years. Its because all this time i had a secondary monitor like 8 years old that ive never notice it. I just bought recently a cheap and amazing monitor 23 inches aoc, and noticed that my cintiq tablet colors looked washed away.Wacom Horror Warning people3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I asked myself why all my drawings in deviant art dont look like in my cintiq, they look washed away or burned.
Because of two problems.
I have all my files in adobe 1998 icc, which its good for printing but not web browsing, but the most horrible one, its that the cintiq21ux.icc that came in my cd was really wrong. Got the correct one in a wacom europe page, my cintiq its first generation, so new drivers sucked hard doesnt work.
Also warning for those that have same old cintiq like me, new drivers screw up the pen, cuts the pressure in half or gives weird pressure to it-, and worst ive been coloring with pen pressure wrong and color really bad.
I had been coloring bli
The Myth of DigitalI read about a little girl finding her first Teen Titans comic in a shop a few days ago, and her excitement at holding that comic in her hands. Owning it. And it was a genuinely touching story – the next generation meets paper, print, and the characters they love from the TV. The story went on to talk about digital, and it being no substitute for the real thing. You can’t own the object in the digital world; You can’t treasure it – so the argument went. The response – and there’s always a response these days – was almost unanimously pro-print, though the author conceded room for both. The Myth of Digital1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I spent the last couple of days mulling this over, because this is a mental barrier we are up against – a false meme. And I don’t believe it. It’s not what I’m seeing in practice.
The first point is that the girl found a comic of her favourite TV characters. She didn’t know, most likely, that they were characters in a

I promise the people that said all that: I’m just as paranoid and untrusting of the world as you guys, which is why I question everything before opening my mouth.
There is constant talk of conspiracy and media manipulation, and I believe that it does occur, but it is not as long lasting as it was prior to the dawn of the digital age. In the past, information could be controlled very easily, but now, with everyone who owns a phone being a potential source of news, the truth will surface much faster. Lies are now exposed within hours, not decades.
Within the comments of a recent deviation I made mention of how I assess information, but it probably go lost so I shall repeat it here: I don’t just look at one news source, I study three. The BBC, RT a

CS 5 Brushes downloadI get questions about what brushes I use every now and then, and since Mega is giving away so much free space I thought I might as well throw them online. I'm not sure if the texture file is embedded correctly, so if these brushes are missing texture, please let me know and I'll upload that as well. For comparison, this is what a sample stroke from the third to fifth brush ought to look like (the first two brushes don't have a texture, one is the default hard edge round, the other is similarly standard) : http://i.imgur.com/zE3oOqx.jpgCS 5 Brushes download2 years ago in Personal More Like This
ANWAY, YOU NEED PHOTOSHOP CS 5, or higher, in order to use these brushes. Any version below won't have the 3D brush feature and I have no idea what will happen if you load these brushes into CS 4 or lower, but I'm assuming they just won't work. Sorry.
If you DO have CS 5 or higher:

Firstly, thanks for all the birthday well-wishing. Veritable.. mountains of well-wishing. Though I'd be just as content postponing my birthday until next year. And then maybe the year after that, and after that..
A year older and a year wiser. Well, the latter is debatable. But definitely a year older! This year has been a wild, satisfying, disappointing, exciting one. It marks my first total year as a freelancer, which has been simultaneously one of the most liberating and terrifying career leaps I've ever made. Thankfully, the studio I've ended up working with for the entire year has been a very welcoming one. The workload can be immense, but outside of being paid, there are few rewards greater than seeing your work animated in a game after toiling on it for hours. Getting to visit Barcelona was another fantastic perk.
I really can't complain at all about work, this year. I've worked with the guys from Wayforward, Vigil, did a bit of here-and-there for my old stu

While You're YoungLearn art while you're young, trust me. I mean while you're still in school, preferably grade school. It's just easier to learn without all the pressures of an adult life; having to pay the bills puts you in a tough position. Will you pick up a part-time job? It'll cut time out of your practice, probably more than you think. Maybe if you copy somebody else's style then you can get more work. Just take lots of little jobs, it's like getting paid to practice, right? Wrong, trust me, commissions are no substitute for REAL study, especially when you're getting paid $2.00/hr and you've got thirty more to finish this week. While You're Young1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I'm not saying it's ever "too late" to pick up a pencil and learn to draw like the pros, but there's just no opportunity quite like doodling while your teacher drones on in the background, providing you with the perfect white noise and the excuse of boredom to practice. It's the perfect head space, like meditation. So learn while you're young, without all of the distractio
