NejiTen: WarmthAs they walked down the street, Neji was beside Tenten, seeing as though most of Konoha was asleep by now. It was December, the first snow month. The snow was falling slowly and quietly. Tenten thought it was beautiful to see the snow fall. Although, Neji wasn't really paying any attention to the snow, he was more focused on Tenten.
Seeing the way she was smiling as the snow was falling, it made him give out a small grin. Tenten held out her hand waiting for a snowflake to land. It did. But it felt a bit cold to her for a minute. She didn't really noticed.
She looked next to her seeing as though, Neji was still with her all this time. Before, it was the four of them. Her, Neji, Rock Lee and Gai Sensei. Lee and Gai Sensei went off doing other things, leaving only her and Neji.
"Its beautiful, don't you think, Neji?" she asked. Tenten had to say something. It was getting a bit awkward to her now.
"Yeah, it is." he muttered.
They walked along bit more seeing as though they ended up on a b

Neji, however, could hardly notice the rest of the surroundings, all he could think about was all the miserable socializing he was doing. As a member of the Branch family he was required to spend most of the reception speaking with different elders and their children, trying to make himself as amicable as possible.
"Yes, of course, we'd be happy to attend the introduction of your granddaughter to society." Tenten said, giving Neji a slight squeeze that was his cue to nod. Neji looked briefly at his wife before nodding.
She really did look stunning that night, hair in a large bun on top of her head and wearing a soft pink Chinese style dress. Then again Neji always thought she looked stunning.

Tenten sighed as she walked home that night, shedding off her bulky, heaving white shirt and just leaving herself in a black, half-tank top she dawned underneath it. Today had been, by far, one of the worst ones of her life. None of her teammates were around, they were all busy that day, And as for everyone else? They didn't have time either, can you believe that? And on today of all days, the day she wanted to forget everything and just do something that she would have to completely focus on. Today is the very day of the anniversary of her parents' death, during the Kyuubi attack on the village, sixteen years ago. This day also being known as a certain Uzumaki's birthday, but she didn't burden that as such. She knew it wasn't Naruto's fault, and she didn't view it as that at all. "So Naruto..." sneered Obito. "I thought you said you weren't going to let even a single one of your friends die?"
The Uchiha let his gaze drift away from the obnoxious Jinchuriki cradling the dead Hyuga boy, and took a moment to survey the battlefield. Riding atop the Ten tails, Obito could have been a god surveying the four corners of the earth.
Not that he took any gloating pride in that. Not that any of that mattered. Nothing mattered. There was only one reason that he was still alive, one reason that he forced his broken twisted body up every morning. There was only one reason for all the death and terror and horror and war.
It was all for her.
Rin Nohara. Her smile haunted him still. Obito would be the first to admit that the dark powers that kept his body moving put him in the category of 'no longer being human.' He accepted that the horrors that had happened to him had dashed his mind

"Why have you called us here?" Hinoho, a particularly cruel elder asked Neji. Neji cleared his throat.
"I would like permission to marry Tenten." Neji said bluntly, making some of the men glare at him.
"Unger no circumstances can you marry that girl!" Hinoho said, making some of the other elders nod their heads.
"Hinoho be reasonable." Hiyashi said to him.
"Resonable? Look what that girl did to me when I used the curse seal on Neji!" Hinoho exclaimed. Thrusting up his sleeve he revealed a frowny face with its tongue sticking out.
Neji used all of his might not to laugh.
"Being able to do that while still a chunin shows she has great potential as a ninja." Hiyashi argued.
"No Hiyashi, that girl is a menace." Hinoho exclaimed, throwing up his hands, "The pure idea of letting her into the clan disgusts me."

Sometime well after midnight, the downpour ceased and the sky cleared over the capital of the Land of Rain. Hyuuga Neji lay in bed in the modest inn, flat on his back, white eyes open without a hint of tiredness as he watched the shifting patterns of moonlight across the ceiling. The weight of his increasing responsibilities -- both those imposed by himself and those others desired to impose -- felt like a giant hand on his chest, pushing him down, down, until he was sure he'd dissolve into the earth, never to be seen again.

Very few times in his life had Neji ever experienced the urge to scream -- none of which he especially wanted to remember. He preferred to think of himself as a rational, calm, and above all self-controlled person. But right then he felt like screaming. At the top of his lungs. And once he starte

Sun streaked through the open window. It hit the foot of the bed just enough to warm it, but not enough to actually wake the occupants. Despite the early hour, though, one of them was already laying with eyes open.
"Hmmm." Tenten sighed. She snuggled down into the blankets wanting to fall back asleep but finding it impossible.
The arms wrapped around her midsection tightened with the slight movements she had made. Neji's thumb began running smooth circles against her skin as he also began to wake. It was something he always did when the two shinobi lay in a bed together. Tenten knew it was an unconscious habit, but she liked to think he did it to her on purpose.
These types of missions were her favorites. It gave her one-on-one time with Neji that could rarely be found on other more dangerous jobs or even back home in Konoha. Plus the cover of being husband and wife came with the perk of sharing a bed.

"TenTen!" Neji shouted, running up to her.
She couldn't wait to close the space between the two of them. Not so gracefully, she slid down the orange dirt and rocks of the semi-steep hill she had just been standing on - overlooking the village. She practically collided with him... Just managing to get her hands up to stop herself against his chest, clad in the matching green vest of all the Allied Shinobi Forces.
Reflexively, his hands came up to catch her. "Is this everyone?" he asked, looking up at the top of the hill and the few dozen people he could see staring down at the battlefield that had once been their home.
TenTen nodded. It was hard to keep balance on this sliding hill, so the two of them headed back up to the top together. "Just about," she reaffirmed her nod, just in case he hadn't seen it, "But where are Naruto and Itachi?"

Neji Hyuuga. Only son of the deceased Lord Hizashi, Hakushaku of Konoha. Shishaku by birth, and third in line as heir to Lord Hiashi, and the Hyuuga family name.
17 years old, and his name was known throughout the Kazoku of Konoha. Neji Hyuuga was a most wanted bachelor. A skilled and dangerous sparring partner, and a highly respected young man of honor and nobility.
"Neji? Neji, come here, there's someone I wish to introduce you to."
And yet, within the walls of the Hyuuga Mansion, he amounted to very little more than another dog to heel at the foot of his Uncle, Lord Hiashi.
Donned in his finest white shirt, black suit jacket, white trousers, and freshly polished knee-high black leather boots, Neji Hyuuga's head turned slightly at the sound of his name. Setting down a glass of champagne on a nearby table, he headed over to his Uncle - the 29 bright silver and gold medals on his red sash and suit jacket tapping lightly against his

He sat silently in the shadows and watched.
All around him, his classmates played and ran and laughed, enjoying the freedom from classes that Iruka-sensei had granted for half an hour (no longer and no shorter - the man was nothing if not almost obsessively prompt). Hyuuga Neji watched them all with disinterested pale eyes, allowing his gaze to drift from face to face without bothering to settle on one for more than a few seconds at a time.
Predictable. They were all predictable, and for a shinobi, that spelled death.

Yet she was here, next to him, her hair tied in the usual buns on both sides of her head, listening to him going on and on about science crap she had no interest in. Tenten loved winter.
She didn't love it just because she had more room to bring a small arsenal of weapons, hidden from view thanks to two coats, baggie pants and the scarf around her neck.
No. It wasn't just because of that.
She loved winter because it was during this time that the non-written, Hyuga acceptable rules of keeping out of the bubble that was Neji's personal territory was successfully ignored. And when she said ignored, it wasn't she who did it.
