Lannie stood at a stranger's doorway on a quiet suburban street while wearing an odd costume on this Halloween night: a pink, puffy baby doll dress and opaque white tights. A white bow topped her brunette hair, and a foot and half long stuffed key stuck out from her back. She completed the ensemble with a large yellow lollipop.
The house was quiet, and Lannie enjoyed breaking the silence with three pounding knocks. Then she stepped back and put upon the sweetest face she could muster while flicking a switch in her back that began her key spinning. Her movements sharpened and she soon was frozen rigid with a blank, happy stare on her face. Somewhere in her mind, Lannie was a little turned on by the charade of it all.
The woman who greeted her was a youthful twenty-something, dressed in a sultry and unoriginal school girl costume. Trussed up with pink bows on her knee high stockings and tiny ribbons in her hair, she tried too hard to act sexy.

Erin had been sleeping in a way, because since she was turned into a doll, it was difficult to tell what was real and what was a dream. Her entire life now should be fake; some kind of bizarre dream, because people certainly can't be turned into little dolls in bear costumes. Except, that's exactly what happened to Erin three days ago. She had been leaving a book store when Lannie a woman she had known for all of ten minutes used a magic, silver key to turn her into a toy.
Lannie then took Erin home, and sat her upon a shelf with a multicolored jester jack-in-the-box and a red coated marionette. In those three days sitting on the shelf, Erin had not moved one tiny bit without the help of Lannie or gravity. But around noon on the third day, Erin Bear woke form a dream and did something miraculous she stood up.
It took a moment for Erin to recognize that she had even done such a wonderful thing. "Ohmigosh!" She whispered, pawed

Lannie's fabulous Halloween night passed into memory, but it was never forgotten by her, for she replayed that splendid holiday in her head over and over again. The thrill of it all the costumes, the revenge, and most of all, the magic key that made it all possible spread an intoxicating happiness through her every time she thought of that night. In the days since then she approached life with an entirely different eye. Bucking the fall trends of earthy tones, she frequently dressed herself in bright sweaters that were typically paired with knee-length skirts and tights. She talked more, laughed more, and was an overall happier person since that Halloween night.
There was, however, a single sore spot left in Lannie's life; that of her boss Georgia, who a shrewd, conniving middle aged woman. She was pretty, to be sure, with lush red hair, typically dyed to give it an extra pop. But she was never content with her own image and constant

I had recently been laid off from my trucking job. The two years that had passed since my longtime employer had been bought out had been enough of a bear I was almost relieved by the layoff, despite the weak economy. I quickly signed up for unemployment benefits and started looking for new work, but my heart was not yet in it. Quite frankly, I was 'burned out'. What I really needed was a vacation, I hadn't been able to take one since before the takeover. The new management had refused to give us carryovers credit for the time we had put in with our old employer, thus stiffing us out of our hard earned vacation time; some of us had never been able to fully forgive them for that.
Since my layoff had been in mid October, I decided to take a trip the first two weeks of November. That would give me time to get ready, be home well before the Thanksgiving travel crush, and hopefully line up at least a temporary job through the ho

Kelly never liked to admit it, but she was terrified of the smothering dark of night. She never told a soul, and always slept with a night light in her room. So naturally, the worst part of Kelly's new life was the dark of her box. She would savor the daylight and the feeling of the world around her, but come night Lannie would always shove Kelly Fool back into the pitch black of her box, where her toy would wait desperately for the morning.
While she waited, the jester would dream herself into another place. Sometimes, she would dream about being with Mark, going to work, or even performing foolish acts for a king. And while Kelly did dream of doing to Lannie what she had done to her, the toy would only ever do so in the first half of the night. It was in the first half of the night when Kelly hated her owner the most. Unfortunately, her dreams were always invaded by the oppressive black of her box and always short lived.
So, for most of the

The sun was midway overhead as a chill wind blew through the trees. The forest was a riot of gold and red as the leaves changed color in preparation for winter. Heavy showers of brightly colored leaves fell from the trees as the wind snatched them from the branches. The air carried the smell of damp and rotting leaves, familiar odors that brought warm fires and hot cider to mind. However, there was something else to it, something undefinable and mysterious, that signaled great changes were about to happen.
Along the main highway, a bright red convertible mustang, with the top up, was traveling by. The visitor was none other than Megan, a now successful businesswoman who worked for a great firm in the great city. The twenty-two year old brunette was known as a determined woman with a knockout figure. She had successfully fended off the advances of her male colleagues, treating them with a slight derision magnified by her contempt for their pathetic advan

She had deleted all traces of the last upgrade from the system, with what it had done to her, and what it had caused her to think. The only reason she wasn't off causing trouble was because she had tried to get into her suit, which had automatically reset the "upgrade", thankfully. Now, it was back to trying out regular upgrades. She took the chip and inserted it into her zero suit, and waited for the changes to begin.Metroid: HoU: The Naga Upgrade3 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

She stumbled over to a wall to support herself, and struggled to maintain her balance as the changes continued. After the legs had become one, her shoes disappeared, the end merging into a pointed kind of tail, the front a shade of yellow, while the sides and back were the same blue as her zero suit.
Samus began to feel a curious sensation in her legs, as it became le

"Here's your drink, Mark."
"Hey, babe, I thought you were a fairy? What's with the new costume?"
"You know me, always changing my mind at the last minute. Do you like?" Lannie pulled at her dress as Mark examined her new costume. She wore a pink foam girl's dress, sleeves over-large and poofy, as was the dresses knee-length skirt. White tights, Mary Jane shoes, and a big white bow helped complete her outfit, as did a colorful and large yellow lollipop.
"Ooooh, and check this out!" Lannie turned around to reveal a large silvered key. "Go ahead, turn it." Cautiously, Mark reached forward and turned the key. He heard clicking noises in Lannie's back. When he let go, the key began to turn and Lannie spun around. "Hello, I'm Lannie-Doll. I want to be your friend!" A semi-mechanical voice said. "Would you like to play sex?" Perry spit out his drink. Mark would have done the same, had he been drinking at the time. The key wound down and Lannie shook her
Lazy SundayPeace and calm seemed to be rarer commodities than platinum in this apartment, and far more valuable than any sort of metal. It was only once in a blue moon that Amy was greeted with the chance to be alone in the relative quiet of her home, with no pesky roommate filling the air with some grating new noise every few seconds. In fleeting moments such as this one, where Sarah wasn’t filling the air with aural pollution, she liked to renew her resolve to never, ever have a roommate again.Lazy Sunday3 months ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

Her roommate like to joke about how the weekends usually consisted of a Streaming Sunday, a Streaming Saturday, or both, commentary typically fo

That’s what Denise’s first thought was as she first laid eyes on it. She hadn’t visited the garden in her small town’s park for quite some time – she spent most of her summer off from teaching working in her own garden. When she wasn’t on her knees in the soil pulling weeds and planting bulbs, the 39-year-old high school history teacher spent her days in her backyard pool, or laying out in the hot sun, reading and working on her tan.
This hot, sunny day in July had started much like all the rest for Denise; she got up, made herself coffee and breakfast, then she went out into her garden for a while. She had flowerbeds in the front and both sides of her Cape Cod-style house, and a garden in the backyard, with sunflowers, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and other vegetables as well. It made her proud anytime someone driving or walking past her house would slow down or stop to

After the shower, I exited the room, my feet all wet, but there was no towel in site.
I crossed the seemingly wet floor without considering; this was not water on the floor.
Stopping at the door as I was to go out to see if I could find the towels to dry myself off.
Only this was when I first noticed it was not as expected,
my legs glistering all the way up, in a shimmering hue, not entirely displeasing to me.
Leaning forwards with my hands on my knees, staring down in bewildered surprise.
Lifting my left hand up, licking it momentarily in the confusion,
then I thought my ears itched, so I instinctively scratched the itch before I had a thought.
When I next saw the floor, the tiles were once again white as expected,
where had the liquid gone, I had no clue that it now covered much of my skin.
Silly me, I then momentarily touched my tingling nipples before I could spare a thought.
As I find the time to spare a moment for a mirror, I see a very different me.

Sarah looked stood and looked at the audition that the Aquarium was holding, to see who would come and help them with their attraction. They had decided to put up a sailors tales display, involving many sea creatures of legend, including mermaids. Sarah read the sign saying that they needed an actress (around 15-18) with good lungs and good swimming abilities to play the role of a live mermaid for the show. She knew that she could do the job, for she had taken up scuba diving as a hobby and always tried out for plays for the school drama, so she entered the building. Sarah had expected a long queue of girls waiting to be questioned for the job, but the place was empty except for a man with a banner over head saying Auditions this way. She approached him and he looked at her.
Here for the Audition of the mermaid? he asked looking her up and down, sizing her up.
Yes, I was looking for a part time job. I have all of my qualifications here.
